Making a kilo of leather, in the industrial form that your gonna find in any retail environment, is gonna involve more than a kilo of plastic waste anyhow. The tanning ingredients list is just a bunch of the worst chemicals you can think of swallowing (hence their ability to turn skin into leather) which either requires careful and expensive hazmat disposal (good ending) or dump it on the nearest river (bad ending, yes this is standard procedure in a good percentage of the world).
