@hidanstitties YES EXACTLY like this is why its so hard to put into words because its not as aggressively sexual or hostile as other mangas in the same genre... i think cultural propaganda is a good way to phrase it, also bc there are other themes in naruto that can be described that way except some lf them get criticized* in the story and some of them dont (this being one of them obviously)

*criticism in question is usually very centrist bc when he starts hitting the right notes he stops short....

cant rb the whole bc of naruto shippuden 2007 spoilers BUT user cloudabserk post abt naruto sexism is genius, esp the male interest in women being played for jokes or a sign of childhood, like its genuinely such a bizarre relationship.. its a very weird relationship to women and gender in general thats hard to put into words bc its not exactly like the Hand On Dick gooner shit in other shounens its like, kind of a jarring choice to put it generously when u know kishi is extremely capable of writing good characters but defaults into misogyny..
