Getting a little nervous as late this week/early next week we will submit to insurance for approval. I talked to a rep with my insurance agency today and he assured me as long as I submitted all they needed that I would be approved, but I am still nervous! Everyone cross your fingers for me !!

So after the 24th (just about 2 weeks from now)... all I will have left to complete for my insurance approval is my blood work which I have scheduled for Dec 4 (because it has to be within 30 days of surgery)! I can’t believe how quick but slow this time seems to be going. It’s like, I can’t believe since I made the decision on Sept 12 to now, I’ve had my consult, my primary care doc wrote my referral letter and after this week I will have met with the nutritionist and hopefully have my psych clearance. But I also know it’s still about 2 and a half months away from my surgery date which seems so far, but I know with work and life, it’ll be here before I know it!
I’m going to start incorporating a protein shake as a meal replacement next week in hopes of start shedding a few pounds before surgery. We’ll see what I can do, but any progress ahead of surgery I think will really set me up for a successful post-op. I also know it sounds crazy, but I want to try a few different brands a flavors to see which ones to buy.
Any of my followers have recommendations as to what they liked and what flavors?

Surgery Date Finalized
So I decided to go with Dec 21! I’m so excited and cannot wait to get it done. It’s crazy, it’s still just under 3 months away but still, something to look forward to.
Now that I have set the date, I promised my mom that I wouldn’t go shopping for anything or buy clothes which sucks because so much cute fall shit is out, but hey, it’ll save me money to buy my new wardrobe !!!
Get ready for this exciting ride. I guess in my next post I’ll do an about me and get to know me since I haven’t revealed my face or name. I was nervous to at first but I think it’s time

Some of you need to learn the difference between skinny girls being made to feel insecure about their body from certain people and fat girls being made to feel like their entire life is worthless because of their body size from literally the entire world

Doc Consult and Moving Forward
Soooo...I met with my doctor/surgeon today for a consult and just to get to know each other and talk about the options and my health and goals.
He couldn’t be more nice or helpful. He answered every single one of my ridiculous questions I had thought of and assured me every step of the way I would have support. We discussed the two different hospital locations I could do my procedure at and talked about a timeline for when I wanted my surgery. We scheduled for December 20 (I have off from work the following week for the holiday so it allows me to have time to recuperate) but it may end up being December 21 at another hospital. So I will keep you all updated on that.
I talked with his nurse and scheduler about what I needed to have done and by when in order to get approval from my insurance company. It varies for all insurance companies as well as your BMI so what I have to do, some people may have to do them too and more or maybe not as much. Here is what I have to do:
- see a nutritionist (have an appt for 10/11)
- see my primary care physician to get a physical, a chest X-ray, an EKG and then a month out from my surgical date, a bunch of bloodwork
- get cleared by my psychologist
- attend a pre-surgery information meeting (not the seminar I first attended, this is more in depth)
He told me I should start eating healthier now and try to lose a little weight prior to surgery because obviously the lower weight I have at surgery, the more I have the potential to lose. He made a joke that I can have have my break up meals with some of the places that I really won’t be getting to enjoy after surgery but I can’t have 20 break up meals lol. I’ll prolly indulge in a break up meal for Taco Bell, fried pickles at Buffalo Wild Wings, Pizza, and Chinese food lol.
Well that’s all for now but I am very excited to get going on this and get to a healthier, happier lifestyle and eating habits 💜💜

I have my consult on Wednesday and I’ve been really looking forward to it. But what I’m even more ecstatic about is my therapist that I currently see is able to clear me for surgery rather than having to go see someone I really don’t know and have to open up to about something like this!
Hoping to schedule my blood test and nutrionist appts after the consult! Yay!!n

One thing I’m nervous for regarding the surgery aside from the actual surgery is loose skin. I know insurance really doesn’t cover the procedure to remove it. I’m gonna do some research about loose skin and what can help it or if there’s anything that can.
Oh well, I’d rather have loose skin than this extra weight

I have stretch marks.
Reblog if you do too. Just to prove that it is more normal than what people actually think.

I personally can’t wait for some of these things too!! Some of mine include:
1. Feeling more comfortable in a seat on an airplane
2. Having the ability to go on long walks and hikes with my friends and not having to conviently be “busy” when they ask
3. Not do weird angles or distortions with my body when I’m posing in pics !
Some of The Things That I am Looking Forward to!
1. Being able to sit on something without worrying if it will break.
2. Being able to shop in stores, rather than ordering online.
3. Being able to borrow a sweatshirt from someone without worrying if it will fit.
4. Being able to share clothes with my girlfriends. (never in my life have I been able to do this, being a size 16 and all my friends are 4-10′s)
5. Being able to go up 3 flights of stairs to my apartment without feeling like death.
6. Being able to shop at little boutiques that only carry up to maybe an XL.
7. Being able to lay comfortably on the couch with my boyfriend.
8. Not feeling like everyone is staring at me when I eat.
9. Not hating every photo that I am tagged in.
10. Being confident and beautiful while trying on wedding dresses.
11. Getting through an entire day without needing a nap.
12. (Hopefully) getting off of anti depressants as well as maybe my migraine medicine.
13. Sleeping better.
14. Finding my love to run again.
I can’t think of anything else at the moment, but I would love to hear some more things that other weight loss surgery patients can’t/couldn’t wait to do!

My doctor’s office had a spot open up for my consultation today instead of waiting til next week and I was so excited but I got nervous also. I was working so I kept it for as scheduled but I noticed a little anxiety about going next week. It’s a huge step to be taking and while I’m so excited for it, it’s also pretty crazy to do and idk I’m just rambling now. I hope I get some followers soon or get comfortable interacting with others in the WLS/VSG community so I have someone to chill me out

Telling my Friends
I was so, SO incredibly nervous to tell my close girlfriends about this decision. I didn’t know how they’d react to it and what they would think. I never doubted that they would support me, but admitting to something like this is putting myself in a huge place of vulnerability. I know going through this process/journey I am going to need a strong support system in order to be successful, so I wanted to include them from the start of this.
Let me tell you... when I say I have the best, most supportive, incredible group of girlfriends that I could ever dream of, that wouldn’t even do it justice. As I sent the text to them, asking them to actually come to this page and read my initial post, I got extremely anxious. I was waiting for that first text reply just to see if there’d be a tone of support. Well 2 minutes later I was in the bathroom at work crying because of how much support and love I felt from them. They are so happy I’ve chosen to do something for myself that will improve my life and my happiness.
I’m going to include a few snippets of the support I received from them 💜

Things I Look Forward to Doing
Now there are a few things I look forward to doing once I have started to lose significant weight. I’m sure there are more things that I can’t necessarily think of right now, but I can do a follow up post to this if anything else comes to mind.
- Take more pictures of myself and not immediately delete them
- Love myself
- Have more confidence to be around people who I don’t know or are just meeting for the first time
- Having more energy overall
- Not feel uncomfortable when flying and having to use an extended buckle.
- Not worry about if I can keep up with my friends when we go on long walks or hikes, or even just walking around town.
- Going shopping with my friends and not having to say “oh I have to wait to get paid, I’ll buy it online” so I can look to see if they have it in the store’s plus size section.
- Wearing certain clothes or styles that weren’t flattering when I was severely overweight
- Not wonder if people are looking at me because I am overweight

One of the biggest de-motivators for those on a massive weight loss journey or those who are significantly overweight isn’t the exercise or the eating its just knowing your journey is going to be unbelievably long.
Its not going to be a 30-day-to fit and skinny thing, Its a 2-3 years of daily regimented eating, changing a lifetime of bad habits, habits that other people do not understand or care to empathise with. Its the probability of excess skin that you cant afford to remove.
2-3 years of self sabotage, hormones and mood swings, sabotage by those in your life who think its funny to see you fail. Its not one dress size down, its 5-10 dress sizes down. Its expensive, its exhausting, its physically painful doing thing at your biggest that appears easy to other people. You get waves of support, jealousy, suspicion, judgement…. for 2-3 years
So yeah, “just eat healthy and everything will be fine!”.. yes it will be, but please don’t forget the length of our journey ahead can be massively overwhelming.
