I was watching a few episodes of Monster High (G1) and in the episode "crime scream investigation" I had the epiphany that Deuce, despite his relaxed manner... is just as jealous, if not more so, than Cleo

Like, we have several moments of Cleo being jealous in G1, but when she was jealous, she preferred to deal with it with Deuce (usually). I mean, yes, she gave the ghouls a few "cuts", but it was Deuce who really suffered the consequences.

But when it was the opposite situation, where Deuce got jealous. His first reaction was to get angry and go hunting for the monster that was supposedly hitting on his girlfriend.

And that made me think, most likely, because she's popular, Cleo must have several monsters interested in her, but they must all be too afraid of Deuce to even look in her direction the wrong way...I'm sure that right at the beginning of their relationship, a situation occurred and Deuce got so angry/jealous that they all just decided together

"Cleo's hot,...but her six-foot boyfriend is a challenge I don't want to face."

I don't know, it just came to me now 😅

Clawd's diary (back to School) on: Clawd and Cleo relationship

October the 18th

(...) today I had to stop Clawdeen from going after Cleo because Clawdeen still thinks Cleo dumped me for Deuce and broke my heart. That's not how it happened, so I told Clawdeen the real story. When Cleo and I first started going out, I had just been voted captain of the football team, and Cleo had taken over her sister Nefera's spot as captain of the fear squad. I was the BMOC–Big Monster on Campus, and she was Her Royal Hawtness; it was like living in the perfect nightmare. Even then, I think we were enjoying the attention more than the relationship. We were friends, still are, in fact, but the spark just wasn't there. There was a spark between her and Deuce, though.

You couldn't help but see it when they were around each other. I confess I was a little jealous, but I soon got over that as our perfect nightmare suddenly came to an end. My wake-up call came in the form of a season where we lost every game, but one and I completed more passes to the other team than I did to my own. For Cleo, it was thinking she could just pick up her sister's pom-poms and not miss a fear, except she was so bossy half the team quit, and the half that stayed just did their own thing. We probably would have broken up then, but the thought of adding any more drama to what was already going on was too much to think about. So we stayed together and kind of leaned on each other through it all. Eventually, I started to make better decisions on the field, and Cleo learned that leadership involved more than barking orders. So on the night before the last game of the year, we decided to break up. Cleo told me that she knew Deuce wanted to ask her out but didn't dare because she was still dating me and that she wouldn't say yes for the same reason. That was that, except Cleo wanted to tell everyone that she broke it off because she didn't want anyone thinking that the captain of the fear squad got dumped. I told her I wouldn't lie about what happened, but I wouldn't say anything to contradict it. Looking back, I think it was dumb on her part to care so much about social status, and it was equally dumb on my part to be "heroic" about it. (...)

okay but like. I love the buckley siblings??? buck and maddie are everything to me. i mean. god you guys. she was a kid herself and she couldn’t grieve her dead brother she had to pretend he didn’t exist and do all that while being the only one to give Buck any semblance of comfort, that’s her little brother and she loves him so much and she raised him you guys. she saw he was hurting and she gave him her Jeep and her money and told him to drive—she gave him an escape but also, she gave him her escape. that jeep was her escape route her and she gave it to her baby brother I’m insane abt them. Maddie Buckley the woman that you are.

all this to say i desperately crave an au, with changeling child Buck. Perhaps he was born due to a deal made with the fae to save Daniel, a deal that didn’t end well? maybe it was trickery or maybe the Buckley failed to uphold a piece of their bargain or maybe it was a my sisters keepers type deal where daniel does initially make it, but is constantly in and out of the hospital when it comes back and just. is so tired, and wants to go now. who wants to be told, “it’s okay Daniel. You can rest now.”

idk what the situation would be. all I know is, is that i read this book, and I don’t know the name, or the author or even what the book was about. It was years ago. But there was this kid and he was a changeling, and he was beautiful. And he met these other changelings and saw they were frightful and scary looking—rotting, almost. And he didn’t understand why he was different, until one changeling told him it was because a changeling is fae, particularly dying fae, and then given to a human family in the hopes that they would survive and become stronger through the exchange. Maybe strong enough to come back to Faerie if they want to. But most changelings don’t make it—the rot kills them.

The reason the changelings are given to the humans is because of—actually, I don’t even remember the reason, I don’t even remember the plot. 😭

but I remember that there was a component of the changelings appearance. the main character was told he wasn’t dying of rot and that the reason be physically was beautiful the way other fae are (bewitching and otherworldly) was “because his human parents loved him.” the other changelings were not loved (human host families were unwanting of the changeling children who were seen as impostors or cuckoos in a nest) and therefore were physically sickly looking—im talking skin hardening to rotting bark, blood slogging to muck, hair falling like decaying leaves, that kind of stuff.

BUT THE REASON I BRING THIS UP- is because the mc’s human host parents didn’t love him at all. They were indifferent- they didn’t want him, they ignored him and made it clear they would have preferred and missed their real child who he was switched with. He was a monster to them.

and there was a scene where he, when he was a baby, placed in the original child’s crib, the human family’s older daughter was in the room. And she knew right away that he was a changeling. And while her parents screamed and grieved and wished to get rid of him, she slid her fingers through the bars of the crib and reached for him—only for him to latch onto her finger with sharp teeth and draw blood. her first action—to reach for him. His first action—biting her, causing pain however inadvertently. She loved him anyways.

and there’s another scene where she said, you are so beautiful I am not. And he said, a changeling is only as beautiful as he is loved. Mom and dad didn’t love me. All this is from you. You are so beautiful, and you shared that with me.

So just. Idk. Buckley siblings vibes.

On August 25, C.A Cupid had the brilliant idea of arrowing Clawd Wolf and Cleo de Nile

After much observation, I have brought together a couple with much potential. He is a werewolf and captain of the Monster High football team, and she is a mummy and the captain of the Fear Squad. Much to my delight, my arrows both flew true and struck the intended targets at the perfect moment. I foresee them being together for a long time, and I can’t imagine anything but good coming from this match.

On September 20, she thought she might have made a mistake, But she didn't understand what was wrong

I am beginning to think that maybe I acted a bit hastily in pairing Clawd Wolf and Cleo de Nile. I had not counted on Cleo loving herself as much as she does or Clawd’s love for the game he plays. This is becoming very confusing. My arrows are supposed to be foolproof, but even though they are still together and appear as happy to every other monster, I know they are not. Cleo is also beginning to have affections for a Gorgon boy named Deuce. I suppose I could ask my father what to do, but I want to work this out on my own. I can’t be flying home every time I have a problem I don’t think I can solve.

On November 1st everything came together in a confusing way...for Cupid

Clawd broke up with Cleo today, although he let her tell every monster that she dumped him. Now Cleo’s dating Deuce, Clawd’s sister Clawdeen believes her brother has been “done wrong” and is very angry at Cleo, and I find this all very confusing and well… confusing. I almost shot Clawd and Cleo again but then thought better of it. Maybe just randomly picking out two monsters that seem compatible isn’t the best way to go about this. I have somehow made a mess out of something that should have been so easy. I guess this is what my father meant by “gaining experience”. Oh, and Headmistress Bloodgood wants to see me tomorrow. I can’t wait to have that conversation

I love how Cupid arrowed Clawd and Cleo, being absolutely sure that they would be prefects together just by being captains and popular, only to see that they don't "click". It's also cute how Cleo fell for Deuce even when she was under the effect of Cupid's arrow

It's also hilarious that even today a large part of the fandom really believes that it was Cleo who break up with Clawd and not the other way around
