his sanity threatens to burst at its seams. the looming and gut churning realization that -- he won't ever feel certain again sinks to the bottom of his stomach. there are no warnings, the nightmares still echo through his mind in his most vulnerable moments. teeth gnash and sink into his shoulder, claws that dug too deep into his rib cage before a blood curdling yowl freed him. now the teeth are his, the claws are his own and they drag against his sternum desperate to be free. he won't grant it freedom, he cant or he wont be jason any longer. it's the rush of panicked thoughts that flicker behind his green eyes, lips parted as his voice escapes him in a hoarse and pitiful attempt to anchor himself. ' im losing control here. '
her touch makes him flinch, if only for a second before he leans into the warmth of her palms. how many hands had clawed at him? how many starved mouths? the notion used to exhilarate him that he was coveted so desperately, but now it sends a chill of fear down his spine. leaning his cheek into her hand he feels his eyes shut briefly, a small sigh escaping him as his heart beats into another county. peeling his eyes open he gazes back at gloria, the familiar serenity they grant him enough to knock the air out of his lungs. teeth drag against his bottom lip as he raises his own hand to rest against hers, lips pressing to the meat of her palm.
could he tell her? would she believe him? would she understand -- how easily his sister had adapted to this life. melted into its fabric guided with hands of friends and lovers who aimed to make her a part of their existences, all the while jason had never felt so isolated in his entire life.
" I -- i cant explain. i dont know how to tell you.. you'll think im insane. i think im insane, i can feel it crawling beneath my skin. "
"I’m losing control here." @werehause
she hears the words, never misses a syllable, but how they land makes that pit of grief wring a little tighter in her chest. a kind of breaking in it. not loud, not dramatic, just tired of holding up the world. she'd always found jason to be a little reckless, burning hot and full of life, running towards trouble with his whole heart. but this felt different, like the hidden lamentations of someone who didn't know how to carry their own weight anymore. she knew that feeling. lived inside the endless spiral of it every single day. gloria closed the space between them and placed her hand over his chest. the old bits of string braided together, adorning her wrist, had seen too much of the world with her. a palm that dances up and cradles his jaw, holding his gaze. and fuck — she can't help it when she looks at him. finding fragments of the same wide-eyed boy who used to meet her by the swamp beds at dusk. she still had a collection of skipping stones and gator teeth tucked in a box of memories beneath her bed, and she thinks about showing him. wonders if it might do good to steady the brewing storm she could feel beneath the beat of his heart. to know how much it stuck to her soul, tiny glimpses of a simple slice of something heavenly before she walked through hell.
❛ hey, look at me. ❜ it's a gentle husk, but no less commanding. ❛ talk to me, jason. i'll help you figure it out, whatever it is. ❜

@bloodbruja sent for an affectionate starter!
Calloused fingers swipe at the grime on his cheek bones. Green eyes squinted against the blazing afternoon sun as it bears down on the small town. It’d been a scorcher, somewhere in the triple digits and the sunset made no promise for a cooler night. Jason can feel the sweat running off his jaw as a low slung smirk stretches across his mouth. “ Hey pretty baby. “ the compliment is sailed in Solana’s direction, his long legs carrying him from the drivers side of his truck to her front gate. He’d been on his way home to get cleaned up, but the spur in his chest wouldn’t let him outside of the town without seeing Lana’s pretty face. A hand comes to caress her elbow, blonde bros arching high as he beamed at her. “ What have you been up too today? “

I realized then that's the worst thing you can do for them... make friends with them. 'Cause they get comfortable with you, they're just gonna end up getting killed.

* Another difference in my interpretation, Jason does not marry Crystal Norris. In fact his objection to do so is what drives a wedge between him and the hot shot community.
#.| about#.| headcanons#it’s Jason we’re talking bout here#you know how revolutionary you gotta be to get him to marry you?#ha honey he was raised right but the threat of a baby don’t scare him

* Jason never hits sookie and he never tells her to get over her assault. This is a big point in my interpretation of him, he is not physically violent to women. In fact it’s part of what gets him in trouble with vampires because he hesitates when it’s a woman. Second Jason struggled to believe and accept the assault sookie went through simply because if he accepted what happened he’d have to accept that there was a time in his life he was ignorant to his sisters turmoil and he will drown himself in what ifs and what he could’ve done. It’s very selfish thinking but he’s never been good at self reflecting and he didn’t wanna acknowledge it until there was such evidential proof he couldnt ignore it.
