Rajnath Singh at SCO Meet: Some Countries Use Terrorism as Policy, Shelter Terrorists
At the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ Meeting in Qingdao, India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called out nations that support cross-border terrorism, urging SCO to take a stronger stance against such activities.
In a direct message aimed at Pakistan without naming it, Singh said, “Some countries use cross-border terrorism as an instrument of policy and provide shelter to terrorists. There should be no place for such double standards. SCO should not hesitate to criticise such nations.”
Referring to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Singh stated that the attack followed a pattern seen in earlier assaults by Lashkar-e-Taiba. India, he said, responded by launching Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, to take down terrorist bases across the border.
No Room for Terror and Violence
Singh emphasized that peace cannot thrive where terrorism is allowed to grow. “Terrorism and the spread of dangerous weapons to such groups are serious threats. We must act together to stop them,” he said.
He highlighted the importance of preventing young people from being influenced by extremist ideas. Singh praised SCO’s Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) for helping member countries fight radicalization and work toward peace and stability.
Urging Accountability for Terrorism
Calling for global action, Singh said, “Any acts of terrorism are criminal and wrong, no matter who carries them out or why. SCO members must speak out clearly against terrorism.” He added that the people who plan, fund, or support terrorist acts must be punished.
This visit to Qingdao is the first by a senior Indian leader to China since tensions began at the border in Ladakh in 2020. Singh's presence marks a significant step in regional discussions.
India and the SCO
India joined the SCO as a full member in 2017 and held its rotating leadership in 2023. The group, founded in 2001, focuses on cooperation in security and development. Its members include India, China, Russia, Pakistan, Iran, and several Central Asian nations.
Singh’s remarks underline India’s clear message: the fight against terrorism must be united, firm, and without exceptions. Read top news India in Hindi by subscribing our newsletter!

After Delays, Axiom-4 with India’s Shukla Set for Launch Today
After several delays, NASA has confirmed that the Axiom-4 mission, which includes Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla will launch today. This marks an important milestone, as it will be the first time in 40 years that an Indian travels to space.
The team of four astronauts:
· Shukla (India)
· Peggy Whitson (USA)
· Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski (Poland)
· Tibor Kapu (Hungary)
The spacecraft is scheduled to lift off from Kennedy Space Centre around noon IST. The spacecraft will take about 28 hours to reach the International Space Station (ISS) and is expected to dock around 4:30 PM IST on Thursday.
A Mission Long in the Making
The mission was originally planned for May 29 but faced several delays. These were caused by technical issues such as a faulty part in the spacecraft, a leak on the space station, and bad weather. NASA also delayed the mission to make sure everything on the ISS was safe and ready for more astronauts.
Even after the leak on the ISS was repaired, NASA took extra time to check if any other systems were affected. “Every part had to be tested again for safety,” an Indian official said.
A Big Moment for India
The mission, called ‘Realize the Return’, is the fourth private trip to the space station. For India, this moment is special, the last time an Indian went to space was in 1984, when Rakesh Sharma spent nearly eight days aboard a Soviet space station.
At the time, India didn’t even have a launch pad of its own. Today, the country is planning its own human spaceflight mission. “India has come a long way. We’re now part of the global space community,” said Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh.
Shukla’s Space Duties
Shukla, who is nicknamed “Shux” by his fellow astronauts, will carry out seven science experiments from India. He’ll also take part in other research activities and will interact with students, teachers, and space industry leaders back home through video calls from space.
The astronauts will stay on the space station for about 14 days before returning to Earth. If everything goes as planned, this mission will not only bring back an Indian presence in space but also show how far international cooperation in space has come.

After Indus Waters Treaty Suspension, India Asks World Bank Expert to Pause Work on Kishanganga & Ratle Disputes
After putting the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) on hold, India has asked a World Bank-appointed expert to pause his work on two ongoing water disputes with Pakistan related to the Kishanganga and Ratle hydropower projects in Jammu & Kashmir.
The expert, Michel Lino, a well-known French dam engineer, was appointed by the World Bank in October 2022 to review whether the design of these projects follows the rules of the treaty. Since then, he has been working with both India and Pakistan to understand each side’s views.
India Wants to Pause the Process
India recently sent a formal request to Lino asking him to stop the current work schedule related to the disputes. This comes after the Indian government suspended the treaty, saying it would stay on hold until Pakistan clearly stops supporting cross-border terrorism.
According to the original plan, Pakistan was supposed to send its reply to India’s earlier submission by August 7. A key meeting was also scheduled in November to discuss both sides’ arguments and plan a second site visit to India in December. India now wants all of this to be put on hold.
Lino has asked Pakistan for its views on India’s request, and Pakistan has disagreed with the idea of stopping the process. It is now up to the expert to decide whether to continue or pause the discussions.
Why the Treaty Was Suspended
India officially informed Pakistan on April 24 that it was suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, which was originally signed in 1960. Under this treaty, India can use water from three eastern rivers (Sutlej, Beas, Ravi), while Pakistan has more rights over the three western rivers (Indus, Jhelum, Chenab). The disputes over the Kishanganga and Ratle projects involve rivers that are in the western group.
After receiving India’s letter, Pakistan responded before May 7, saying it was open to talks and even suggested a meeting. But India has not replied and, according to sources, is not currently interested in holding any discussions.
India Moves Forward with Water Projects
Meanwhile, India is planning to build a canal to redirect water from the Indus river system to different Indian states. The government has also started clearing sediment from two major hydropower plants—Baglihar and Salal on the Chenab river in Jammu & Kashmir. This is the first time such cleaning has happened since these projects were built in 1987 and 2008, respectively. Officials said this cleaning will now be done every month.
India is also pushing ahead with four major hydropower projects on the Chenab river:
· Pakal Dul (1,000 MW)
· Ratle (850 MW)
· Kiru (624 MW)
· Kwar (540 MW)
Among these, Pakal Dul is notable as it is the first storage-based hydro project in Jammu & Kashmir.
What Happens Next
Michel Lino will review both India’s request and Pakistan’s response before deciding whether to pause or move forward with the ongoing process. The outcome may impact future talks and developments between the two countries, especially in light of rising tensions and India’s current decision to keep the treaty on hold. An email sent to Lino for comment did not receive a reply.

Iran Moves to Block Strait of Hormuz: What It Means for India, Iran, and the World
Iran’s Parliament has approved a move to close the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil routes though the final call will be made by the country’s top security council. This comes after the U.S. carried out airstrikes on Iranian military sites. With tensions rising, here's what the situation could mean for India, Iran, and the rest of the world:
1. Why the Strait of Hormuz Matters
The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway that connects the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea. It's a major route for oil and gas shipments - around 1 in 5 barrels of oil used worldwide passes through it. If blocked, there’s no other direct sea route, meaning oil and gas supplies to many countries would be affected, pushing up prices everywhere.
2. Impact on India
India gets a large part of its oil and gas from countries that ship through the Strait. Even though India also buys from Russia, the U.S., and Africa, a blockage would still hurt, not because of shortage, but because prices would shoot up. This could make fuel, transport, and many everyday items more expensive in India.
3. Will Iran Really Go That Far?
Iran has threatened to block the Strait before but has never done it, not even during past wars. That’s because it also needs the route for its own oil exports, especially to China. Closing it would hurt its own economy and affect relations with its neighbors. But after the recent U.S. strikes, Iran might now be more willing to act.
4. What It Means for the World
If Iran blocks the Strait, it could cause a global energy crisis, leading to higher fuel prices and panic in the markets. Countries like the U.S. are ready to respond quickly, but even short delays in shipping could cause serious problems. China and other big oil buyers may try to ease the situation to avoid more trouble.
In Short
Blocking the Strait of Hormuz could hit India’s economy, hurt Iran’s own trade, and create global fuel shortages. The world is watching closely because what happens next could affect everyone. For latest political news in Hindi, subscribe to our newsletter!

As US Eyes Airspace Access, Pakistan Confirms Trump-Munir Talk on Iran
The Pakistan Army has officially confirmed that US President Donald Trump and Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir discussed the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel during a meeting at the White House earlier this week.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Pakistan Army said, “A detailed exchange of views also took place on the prevailing tensions between Iran and Israel, with both leaders emphasising the importance of resolution of the conflict.”
Trump: "They Know Iran Very Well"
When asked if Iran was discussed during the meeting, Trump said, “They [Pakistan] know Iran very well, better than most. They are not happy about what’s going on.”
He added that Pakistan has a close understanding of both Iran and Israel, and Munir agreed with his views.
US May Seek Access to Pakistani Airspace
Indian officials believe the main reason behind Trump’s extended lunch with Munir was to gain Pakistan’s support in case the US needs to use Pakistani airspace or bases for any military action on Iran. The lunch lasted two hours—double the originally scheduled time.
Meeting Arranged Outside Diplomatic Channels
White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said the meeting happened after Munir praised Trump for helping avoid a war between India and Pakistan. However, insiders suggest it was not arranged through the usual diplomatic process. Instead, it was reportedly set up by a group of Trump’s business allies, political advisors, and lobbyists.
Trump Praises Both Pakistan and India
Trump also spoke highly of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Field Marshal Munir, saying, “I want to thank him [Munir] for not going into the war with India. And I want to thank Prime Minister Modi.”
He referred to a past conflict between India and Pakistan, saying he was glad both leaders chose peace. “That could have been a nuclear war. But they ended it,” he said.
The Pakistan Army shared that other topics discussed during the meeting included - Working together on new technologies, energy, and cryptocurrency
Trump showed strong interest in building a long-term partnership with Pakistan in these areas.
Key Figures at the Meeting
Trump was joined by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Special Representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff. Munir was accompanied by Pakistan’s National Security Advisor, Lt Gen Asim Malik, who also heads the country’s intelligence agency.
Munir Invites Trump to Pakistan
In a gesture of goodwill, Munir invited Trump to visit Pakistan officially, saying it would reflect the growing warmth in their relationship.
The Pakistan Army’s statement ended by thanking Trump for his role in reducing past tensions with India. “President Trump appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for peace and stability in the region,” it said.

Flight Carrying 110 Indian Students Evacuated from Iran Lands in Delhi
A group of 110 Indian students, who were stranded in Iran due to the ongoing conflict with Israel, arrived safely at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport late last night. Among them, 90 students are from Jammu and Kashmir, most of whom were studying at Urmia Medical University.
This group marks the first batch of students to be brought back to India. Their journey included a transit through Armenia and Doha, before finally boarding a flight to Delhi, which was delayed by nearly three hours.
Relief for Families Back Home
With rising tensions between Iran and Israel, families of students in India, especially in Kashmir, which sends the largest number of students to Iran, had been pleading for help. Protests were also held in parts of Kashmir, demanding swift evacuation.
The Jammu and Kashmir Students' Association thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar for their quick action.
"We hope all remaining students will be brought back soon," the association said in a statement.
They also confirmed that the Indian government covered all travel costs, including the final leg from Delhi to Srinagar.
"We deeply appreciate this effort to ensure a smooth, full journey home," they posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Thousands Still in Iran
Reports suggest that over 13,000 Indian students, mostly pursuing medical degrees, are currently studying in Iran. Many others, including pilgrims and working professionals, are also stuck in the region.
On Sunday, the Indian Embassy in Tehran activated an emergency helpline and asked all Indian nationals to evacuate as soon as possible.
Background: Iran-Israel Conflict
The evacuation comes amid intense fighting between Iran and Israel. The situation escalated after Israel launched 'Operation Rising Lion', targeting Iranian nuclear sites last week.
In retaliation, Iran fired dozens of missiles and drones, causing damage in multiple Israeli cities and killing more than 20 people.
On Wednesday, Israeli warplanes hit parts of Tehran, with reports later confirming strikes near a nuclear facility. Iran responded by launching hypersonic missiles.
Amid global concerns, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned the US of “serious consequences” if it joined the conflict. President Donald Trump denied US involvement but expressed growing impatience with the crisis.
As the situation remains unstable, more evacuation efforts are expected in the coming days to bring back Indian nationals still stranded in Iran. Read the top news India in Hindi by subscribing our newsletter!

Israel-Iran Conflict Updates: Israel Bombs Tehran for Sixth Day, Sets Oil Sites on Fire
Fighting between Israel and Iran has entered its sixth day, with fresh Israeli airstrikes hitting Iran’s capital, Tehran. Several oil facilities were set on fire, and a nuclear site was also damaged, confirmed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The situation is becoming more dangerous, raising fears of a larger war in the region.
Nuclear Site Damaged, Oil Facilities Burning
Israel’s latest attacks have caused major fires at Iranian oil sites. The IAEA confirmed that one of Iran’s nuclear facilities was hit in the strike. Footage shared online showed thick smoke rising from industrial areas in Tehran.
Israeli officials, along with U.S. President Donald Trump, claimed that Israel now has full control over Iran’s skies. In response, Iran said it struck an Israeli intelligence center in Tel Aviv. Israeli sources confirmed damage to both civilian and military areas, though exact details are still unclear.
According to Iranian officials, over 220 people have died in Israel’s attacks, including at least 70 women and children. Meanwhile, more than 20 Israelis have been killed in Iranian counterattacks.
Targeted Killings and Intelligence Sites Under Attack
Reports say that a top official in Tehran was killed by Israeli forces. Iran also targeted what it claims is a Mossad intelligence office in Tel Aviv, highlighting how the conflict is now hitting sensitive locations on both sides.
India has started moving its students out of Iran and is avoiding flying planes through Iranian airspace. Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi urged the Indian government to bring back over 120 Indians stuck in Iraq, as the region grows more unstable.
World Leaders Call for Peace at G7 Summit
Leaders meeting at the G7 Summit in Canada have called for calm. French President Emmanuel Macron said that Donald Trump spoke to leaders about a possible ceasefire between Israel and Iran to help start peace talks.
German Chancellor Angela Mertz said the U.S. and Israel have the strength to destroy Iran’s nuclear systems. The G7 nations supported Israel and blamed Iran for creating instability in the region.
What Could Happen Next
With U.S. fighter jets now entering Iranian airspace and no side willing to stop, there’s growing fear that this could turn into a much bigger war. World leaders are urging both countries to stop the attacks and come to the negotiation table. For more political news in Hindi, subscribe to our newsletter!

Transnational Crime in Focus as India and Canada Seek Common Ground
India and Canada are taking steps to repair their strained relationship by planning a joint working group focused on tackling transnational crimes. The initiative aims to keep diplomatic ties separate from the ongoing legal case in Canada concerning the 2023 killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Canada on Tuesday for the G7 Summit at the invitation of newly elected Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. This visit marks an important opportunity for both countries to re-engage after a year of tensions.
Nijjar Case Casts Shadow Over Relations
Ties between India and Canada deteriorated in 2023 after then-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged the “possible” involvement of Indian agents in Nijjar’s killing. India strongly denied the claim, calling it “absurd” and “politically motivated.”
To avoid further strain, both countries are working on forming a joint group that will allow discussions on legal and security concerns without derailing the larger diplomatic relationship.
Security Agencies Already in Talks
According to sources, high-level meetings have already taken place between key security agencies - India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Canada’s Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), along with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and National Security and Intelligence Advisor (NSIA). These discussions laid the foundation for the joint group, which is now being evaluated at political and diplomatic levels.
The joint group will serve as a platform for Canada to bring up judicial matters and for India to raise concerns about pro-Khalistani extremism in Canada. It’s expected to be a key confidence-building measure for both nations.
Trade and Investment Talks May Resume
The two countries are also looking to revive trade and investment dialogues that stalled after the Nijjar case. In 2024, trade in goods between the two nations stood at $8.6 billion, while trade in services reached $14.3 billion. Canadian pension funds remain strong investors in India, with over $75 billion invested to date.
Ten rounds of talks for an Early Progress Trade Agreement (EPTA) have already taken place. Sources say that once tensions ease, both sides may push ahead with negotiations for a larger trade deal. Given Carney’s background as an economist, progress in this area is likely.
Modi’s visit could also lead to the appointment of new envoys. Dinesh Patnaik, India’s ambassador to Spain, is being considered for the post of High Commissioner to Canada.
A Step Toward Normalcy
The creation of this joint working group signals a cautious but clear effort from both India and Canada to move forward. By addressing sensitive issues through direct dialogue, both sides hope to rebuild trust and revive broader cooperation. Read political news in Hindi by subscribing our newsletter.

Israel Strikes Iran for Third Night; Tehran Says 224 Killed, Including Top General
The conflict between Israel and Iran continued for a third straight night, with both sides launching missiles and ignoring calls from around the world to stop fighting. Iran reported that 224 people have died since Friday, including top military leaders, and 1,277 others have been injured.
Iran said Israeli airstrikes hit homes, oil facilities, and military bases, including the Defense Ministry. Among those killed were two senior generals from Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guard, including its intelligence chief, Brigadier General Mohammad Kazemi.
In response to Iran firing more than 270 missiles since Friday, Israel said it has hit back hard, destroying missile launch sites and factories. Most of the missiles aimed at Israel were blocked by its air defense system, but 22 made it through, hitting neighborhoods and killing 14 people. Another 390 were injured.
Heavy Civilian Losses
Iran's Health Ministry said most of the people killed were civilians. Videos on Iranian state TV showed people pulling children from destroyed buildings in Tehran. The Foreign Ministry building was also damaged, with shattered windows and debris inside.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister shared photos showing damage to government offices, accusing Israel of targeting civilians.
Air Attacks Continue
On Sunday night, sirens went off in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem as Iran launched more missiles. Israeli defense systems intercepted many, lighting up the skies with explosions. Israel quickly responded with airstrikes on military sites and oil storage areas in Iran.
A U.S. official told the Associated Press that Israel had considered targeting Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but former U.S. President Donald Trump stopped the plan to avoid a major crisis.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel will keep attacking Iran’s military and even suggested that the war could lead to a change in Iran’s government. He also claimed Iran was trying to send nuclear weapons to rebels in Yemen.
Global Tensions Rise
The U.S. said it was not directly involved in the fighting but did help stop some of the missiles aimed at Israel. Trump supported Israel’s actions but warned Iran not to attack U.S. troops or bases.
Iran has warned it will strike U.S., British, and French military sites in the region if they try to stop Iranian attacks on Israel.
A Growing Crisis
The conflict started on Friday with a surprise Israeli strike that killed senior Iranian commanders and damaged nuclear facilities. Since then, fighting has escalated, and both sides have refused to stop.
With more people dying and cities damaged, the world continues to urge peace, but Israel and Iran show no signs of stepping back. Read top international news in Hindi by subscribing our newsletter!

Axiom-4 Mission with Indian Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla Delayed Due to Technical Issue
The launch of the Axiom-4 (Ax-4) mission to the International Space Station (ISS), which includes Indian Air Force officer Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, has been delayed due to a technical issue. The announcement was made by Elon Musk’s company, SpaceX, on Wednesday.
According to SpaceX, a leak in the liquid oxygen system was found during a routine check of the rocket. “We are pausing the Falcon 9 launch of Ax-4 to the Space Station to fix the leak and complete all safety checks. A new launch date will be shared soon,” the company said in a post on social media.
The Ax-4 mission was scheduled to launch on June 11, 2025. Shukla was set to become the second Indian to travel to space after Rakesh Sharma, who flew with a Soviet crew in 1984.
What Caused the Delay?
India’s space agency ISRO explained that a short engine test was done as part of the launch preparation. During this test, a leak was found in the rocket's oxygen system. ISRO Chairman V Narayanan said the leak will be repaired, and further tests will be carried out before giving the green light to launch.
This is the fourth time the Ax-4 mission has been delayed. Just a few days ago, the launch was pushed back due to poor weather, including chances of rain and strong winds.
A Big Step for India’s Space Plans
The Ax-4 mission is a joint effort by NASA, ISRO, and SpaceX. The team of astronauts, including Shukla, will spend about two weeks on the International Space Station. They will carry out experiments focused on space health and science, many of which are designed by Indian researchers.
The mission is also expected to help ISRO prepare for its future Gaganyaan mission, which will be India’s first manned spaceflight.
A new launch date is expected soon. Meanwhile, the teams involved say safety is the top priority, and the mission will go ahead only after all systems are thoroughly checked. To read top international news in Hindi, then subscribe to our newsletter today!

Raja Raghuvanshi Murder: Wife Sonam and Boyfriend Raj Planned It Just Days After Wedding
The murder of Indore resident Raja Raghuvanshi during his honeymoon in Meghalaya has shocked the country. Police say the murder was planned just days after Raja’s wedding by his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, and her friend Raj Kushwaha.
While Sonam went on the trip with her husband, Kushwaha stayed back in Indore. He remained close to Sonam’s family during the time police were searching for the missing couple. This, police believe, was part of a plan to make it look like he had nothing to do with the crime.
How the Plan Was Carried Out
According to the Crime Branch, Sonam shared her and Raja’s location with three men who had been hired to kill him. These men followed the couple to Meghalaya, attacked Raja, and left his body in a remote spot. The weapon used, a traditional knife, was not common in that area, raising suspicion. Investigators now believe it may have been bought in Guwahati.
After Raja’s body was found, Sonam was missing for a few days before she surrendered in Uttar Pradesh. Kushwaha was arrested in Indore.
Police say he tried to act innocent by being present at Sonam’s family home and even attended Raja’s last rites, standing beside Sonam’s father.
Their Background
Kushwaha, 21, worked at the billing desk of a plywood company owned by Sonam’s family. Sonam worked in the HR team. The two became close over the past two years. Even after Sonam married Raja, she remained in contact with Kushwaha. Police say they spoke often while she was on her honeymoon.
A senior officer said, “They planned to kill Raja far from home so that it would take longer for the truth to come out. Kushwaha stayed in Indore to avoid drawing suspicion.”
Who Were the Killers?
Police have arrested three men – Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi, who they say were hired by Kushwaha. These men traveled by train to Guwahati and then to Meghalaya, where the murder took place.
A key lead came from a local guide who saw Sonam walking behind Raja and the three men near the crime scene. This helped police connect the dots.
Additional DCP (Crime), Rajesh Dandotiya, confirmed the movements of the suspects and said the local police have now been given custody to continue their investigation. The fourth accused, Anand, is being brought back to Indore from another district.
The Family Speaks
Raja’s family had doubts about Sonam from the beginning. His mother Uma said, “My son told me she wasn’t interested in him and didn’t want to get married. But when I asked her, she said she was just busy with work. Later, she agreed to the wedding.”
Uma also claimed that Sonam took Rs 9 lakh from Raja for travel and hotel bookings and convinced him to take expensive jewellery with them. Police are now checking if this money was used to pay the killers.
Raja’s brother, Vipin, said the couple told the family they were going to visit a temple in Assam. “Later, they said they were going to Shillong. They didn’t book return tickets. We still don’t know who planned the change in destination.”

Twist in Indore Man’s Murder During Meghalaya Honeymoon: Wife Sonam Hired Killers, Say Police
A newlywed couple from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, went missing in Meghalaya while on their honeymoon. Eighteen days later, the husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, was found dead. His body was discovered in a deep gorge near Wei Sawdong Falls, a popular tourist spot in Sohra (Cherrapunji). A sharp cutting tool, believed to be the murder weapon, was also recovered near the body.
Police Arrest Three Killers; Wife Surrenders
In a major breakthrough, police confirmed that Raja’s wife, Sonam, was behind the murder. She allegedly hired men from Madhya Pradesh to kill her husband.
Three men involved in the crime have been arrested - two from Indore and one from Uttar Pradesh. Sonam surrendered at a police station in Nandganj, UP, and was taken into custody.
Chief Minister Confirms Breakthrough
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma shared the update on Monday:
“Within 7 days, a major breakthrough has been achieved by the Meghalaya Police in the Raja murder case… 3 assailants who are from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, female has surrendered, and the operation is still on to catch one more assailant.”
How the Police Cracked the Case
The couple’s family raised the alarm after they were unable to reach them by phone. A large search operation followed, involving local police, rescue teams, and drones. Raja’s body was finally spotted by a drone deep in the forested gorge.
Police formed a special team to investigate. They examined CCTV footage from the places the couple visited and followed a trail of clues that led them to the suspects.
More Arrests Likely
According to Meghalaya’s top police official, the suspects revealed during questioning that Sonam had planned the murder. They also named other people possibly involved, and police say more arrests could follow.
While the key suspects are now in custody, police are still trying to understand what led Sonam to plan her husband’s murder. The case has shocked people both in Meghalaya and Madhya Pradesh. To read top news headlines India in Hindi, subscribe to our newsletter!

Trump and Musk’s Public Feud Turns Ugly Over Epstein Claim
What started as a powerful friendship between President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has now turned into a messy and very public fight.
On Thursday, Musk accused Trump of hiding his links to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In response, Trump threatened to end government contracts with Musk’s companies, including SpaceX and Starlink. Standing next to Germany’s new chancellor at the White House, Trump called Musk “a disappointment.” Musk replied online with sarcasm, memes and support for Trump’s impeachment.
Social Media Turns into a Battlefield
The fight exploded on their social media platforms, Trump’s Truth Social and Musk’s X (formerly Twitter), just hours after Musk mocked Trump’s new federal spending plan. Musk called it the “Big Beautiful Bill,” taking a jab at Trump’s famous slogan.
“I’m very disappointed in Elon,” Trump said from the Oval Office. Musk shot back with a post: “Go ahead, make my day.”
The exchange quickly got worse. Trump claimed Musk had taken too much advantage of government support and said he might cut off all business between the U.S. government and Musk’s companies.
Musk fired back with another post saying SpaceX would start shutting down its Dragon spacecraft, which is used to send astronauts to space under a NASA deal. If true, this could force the U.S. to depend on Russian space vehicles again.
The Epstein Claim
Things took an even darker turn when Musk wrote online that Trump was mentioned in secret files connected to Jeffrey Epstein and that’s why the documents haven’t been made public.
“Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” Musk didn’t provide any proof but stood by his claim and even posted support for impeaching Trump.
Once Close Allies
Their friendship started just after a failed assassination attempt on Trump during a rally last July. Musk became one of Trump’s strongest backers, forming a group to support his campaign and donating over $250 million to help him get re-elected.
Musk was seen often at Trump’s side during rallies, meetings, and even staying overnight at the White House. Just three months ago, Trump even bought a red Tesla to show support for Musk’s electric car company.
“I Helped Elon”
Trump admitted on Thursday that the friendship had soured. “I’ve helped Elon a lot,” he said. “But I’m very disappointed.”
Trump also dismissed Musk’s complaints about the new bill, saying Musk was upset that electric vehicle tax credits were reduced. Musk replied, “False,” saying he had never even seen the bill before it was passed.
He accused the government of wasting money and posted old Trump tweets criticizing spending. “Where is the man who wrote these words?” Musk asked. “Was he replaced by a body double?”
He later added: “Without me, Trump would have lost the election. Such ingratitude.”
Investors Are Worried
The fight has had real-world effects. Tesla shares dropped more than 14%, wiping out about $150 billion in value. Musk personally lost around $20 billion in a single day.
Experts say investors are now worried that Musk’s businesses, many of which rely on government support, could face serious trouble because of the fallout.
The End of a Partnership
Ironically, Musk had already hinted at stepping back from his role advising Trump. Just last week, he held what aides called a “farewell press conference” at the White House. He showed up with a black eye, joking it was from playing with his son.
But now, the breakup is no joke. What was once a strong partnership has become one of the biggest billionaire fallouts in recent memory. To read international news in Hindi, subscribe to our newsletter!

11 Dead in Bengaluru Stampede as RCB's Celebration Turns Tragic
A celebration meant to honor Royal Challengers Bangalore’s first-ever IPL title ended in tragedy on Wednesday, as a massive crowd led to a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, killing 11 people and injuring 47 others.
The disaster happened due to poor planning, last-minute changes, and a huge turnout of fans that the organisers failed to manage.
Crowds Build Up Early
Celebrations had already begun late Tuesday night as fans took to the streets across Bengaluru. The mood was festive, with the biggest gatherings on MG Road, Church Street, and other central areas.
On Wednesday morning, RCB’s team management announced a victory parade in an open bus from Vidhana Soudha to the stadium, followed by an event at the stadium for which a limited number of free passes would be available online.
But at 11:56 am, the police posted on social media that there would be no parade. Still, thousands had already gathered around Vidhana Soudha, where Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was set to honor the team.
The RCB players arrived in Bengaluru around 1:30 pm and went to their hotel before reaching Vidhana Soudha. Many in the crowd were unaware that the parade had been cancelled and expected to see the team pass by in the open bus.
Panic at the Stadium
By 3 pm, around 50,000 people had gathered near the stadium. Many did not have passes and were simply hoping to get a glimpse of the players.
Trouble began around 4 pm when Gate 3 of the stadium was partly opened. A mix of people with and without tickets tried to rush in. This caused panic and led to people falling and getting trampled.
“There was no one to guide or control the crowd,” said Inayath, a local resident who witnessed the incident.
Mahesh, another eyewitness, said, “People were falling on top of each other. Some of us made a human chain to help those on the ground. One woman needed CPR before being taken away in an ambulance.”
Officials Admit Poor Planning
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the crowd was much larger than expected. “We thought a few more than the stadium’s 35,000 capacity would come, but there were nearly 2–3 lakh people on the streets, and around 1 lakh near Vidhana Soudha,” he said.
Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy blamed the state government. “This tragedy happened because there was no proper planning or safety arrangements,” he said.
Victims and Compensation
Most of the victims were young men and women. One of them was 14-year-old Devyamshi from Kanur, who had come with her family. “I lost my granddaughter,” her grandmother said outside the hospital.
The government has announced ₹10 lakh compensation for the families of those who died.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also posted his condolences, calling the incident “heartbreaking” and wishing a quick recovery for the injured.
Transport Problems Add to the Mess
Due to the heavy crowd, metro trains skipped Cubbon Park and Dr BR Ambedkar stations, leaving many stranded.
What was meant to be a proud and happy moment for RCB fans turned into a painful day for the city. As investigations continue, many are asking why better steps weren’t taken to protect the fans and keep them safe. To read top news headlines India in Hindi, subscribe to our newsletter!

At Long Last! Royal Challengers Bengaluru Crowned IPL Champions
After 18 long years, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have finally won their first IPL title, and for Virat Kohli, it was a moment he had waited for his entire career.
As the final over ended with RCB beating Punjab Kings by six runs while defending a total of 190, Kohli dropped to the ground, overcome with emotion. He buried his face in his hands, then let the tears flow, tears of relief, joy, and years of hard work paying off.
“I can now sleep like a baby,” Kohli said after the match. “I’ve given everything to this team — my younger years, my best form, my experience. I never thought this day would come. I was full of emotion when we won.”
Kohli also mentioned former teammate AB de Villiers, who was present at the ground as a cricket expert. “What AB has done for RCB is huge,” Kohli said. “I told him this trophy is his too.”
Kohli Fought Hard, Even Without a Big Score
Kohli didn’t score a lot of runs in the final, he made 43 from 35 balls with just three boundaries. But he kept going, running hard, pushing himself, and staying focused. He showed his passion in every moment, shouting in frustration when things didn’t go his way and encouraging his teammates throughout.
Even though he’s no longer RCB’s captain, he still led by example. During Punjab’s tense chase, Kohli was active on the field, appealing, cheering, and guiding the team as they held their nerve.
A Team Built on Teamwork
Unlike earlier RCB teams filled with big stars, this year’s win came from teamwork. Fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Yash Dayal were key to their success. So were spinners Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya, who kept things tight in the middle overs.
RCB’s captain, Rajat Patidar, might not be the most well-known player in the league, but he calmly led the team through pressure moments.
Finally, the Wait Is Over
RCB fans have waited for this moment since the IPL began in 2008. Over the years, they’ve seen their team lose in finals, face setbacks, and become the subject of jokes online. But not anymore. This time, the underdogs came out on top.
Plans for a grand victory parade in Bengaluru are already underway.
A Dream Fulfilled
Kohli had played three finals before this one but never won. At 36, with many years of effort behind him, he finally lifted the IPL trophy and celebrated like a kid.
“I just wanted to be there till the end, till we won,” he said. And now that he has, the wait and the hard work have been worth it.
RCB have finally done it. And for Virat Kohli, it’s a night he will never forget. Subscribe our newsletter to get more cricket updates in Hindi.
