For the my poster I wanted to add the title of my comic to the page however this didn't go as planned as can be seen my font I used was less than acceptable as the colour didn't work as well as the way I formated it, I attempted to make the font during the night in which my pc was giving me a lot of difficulties and such I wanted to move my project into my one drive where I would then begin working on fixing the project at college where the computers would be more capable of handling the program.

I wanted to use this font to make a small tag on the sided of my work for my poster.

I added a drop shadow on the text to help connect it more with the page.

Mimics

I find the idea of mimics to be very interesting with them having most commonly discussed themselves as chests, this fits in perfectly with the idea behind my project with mimics creating a false sense of security with them pretending to be something they aren't, like how my cats will be wearing a façade to pretend like they aren't plotting against the human race. While they are somewhat similar in concept they aren't in design as my cats will just be regular cats, however the mimics technically can be morphing creatures that let them be anything they want.

This is typically what a mimic is depicted as however another example of a mimic creature would be the alien from the thing.

Webtoons

Webtoons are digital comics, they were initially released in South Korea however the format became incredibly popular world wide with many people creating and releasing their own titles, I really like this format of comics as it allows anyone to get there comic out there without having to go through a publisher as well as it makes the comic work more universally accessible, this allows you to widen the audience that interacts with your work. I really like Webtoons as they widen the market for people to make their own comics as well as it could potentially kick start careers into the industry however the issue that comes with something like this is that anyone can technically make any comic they want so webtoons won't be met with professional standards as if it were published.

I also enjoy Artists that post small comedic comic strips on the internet, They are not industry professionals however I love how they put their Art style and humor in their comics.

One of these Artists would be Glassshine who can be found on tumblr, he creates small comics that tackle the audiences relatable humor I love his art style and how his use of color makes a lot of his art seem comforting and warm.

Comic Research

Duncan and Eddie is a wholesome comic about a loving homosexual relationship between two anthropomorphic characters as well as their friends. This web comic takes place in an anthropomorphic world. I love the art style as well as how they create short weekly comics however this seems to be more of a comic series used to create weekly comics with a very small over arching story as its more so meant to show small moments in this couples life to relate to the audience. This isn't what I aim to make in my project as I wanted to create a story that would take the main focus as the characters are meant to just be placed in it however with Duncan and Eddie the characters seem to take priority over the story.

every comic is short however I do find them really nice to read and the art style and the use of colour is really creative and unique as can be seen background pieces aren't really focused on which is something I might want to consider if I struggle with my backgrounds.

Webtoon Research

Felinia is a comic series that involves the idea of cats having survived the apocalypse and evolving to be a complicated and human like species that have used the previous research of humans to grow exponentially quickly. What happens in this world though is that the cats once evolved call themselves Felinia's and exiled all other species that they considered feral and beneath them, as can be imagined this appears to be a racist commentary as our protagonist is a half fox half felinia which leads to them facing discrimination from other felinias around them, While looking into the comic pages it seems that it has been drawn over a long period of time as you can notice the artists art style change through out the comic. I wanted to look into this comic to help me understand separate designs, and look into how they've simplified their characters, The comic itself isn't made professionally however it did gain a following, the artist responsible for making this comic was hannah daigle, they have stopped working on this comic however have been working on many other projects such as being an animator on Smiling friends. Personally I do really like the comics art style on the later pages

while the designs are simple I really like their designs as well as how they've used the characters colours and body shape help differentiate them. I love how this comic looks and I find the story very intriguing.

Strays

My story revolves around the idea of stray cats having resentment towards humans due to their environments so I decided to look into stories in real life where Stray cats were befriended by humans showing that cats are only feral due to their environment.

I looked into these stories and they seem to suggest that cats while having been feral can be tamed and I found these stories both heart warming and saddening as the cats were able to recover however having them live in awful conditions at such a young age is upsetting.

Now I want to look at what stray cats look like to get an idea of how scruffy I need to make them,

As can be seen their fur is a bit more rough than usual and just to exaggerate it I could make my characters more dirty. As well as I found out that stray cats develop a big fur coat to help them through the winter, this means I also need to exaggerate my stray cats character fur coat.

The welfare of cats

I want to look at how cats are treated legally to understand how my well demotic cats in my story may be treated. In order to own a cat you need to meet the requirements of having a suitable environment, suitable diet, normal behaviour patterns, placed in a home away from harmful animals and the cat needs to be protected from suffering and pain, These are the legal requirements for being a pet owner and if the conditions aren't met its followed with a fine up to £20000 and a potential 6 month prison sentence, I agree with these rules to keep animals safe and I do feel the potential punishments are fair.

Church Glass Art

I'm looking into church glass references so that I can include it on my comic panel involving a church, as can be seen church glass art seems to have the colour of the glass slightly change when a lot of it is in use, this is something I will attempt to do with my work. Another thing I can notice is that the glass is divided into many small pieces.

Harmony colours

I want to add a red tint to my character for the cover to emphasis that he's the antagonist as well as a blue tint to emphasis who the protagonists are, I wanted to do this to experiment with colour and help the reader understand a bit of the story a bit before they have even started reading to try sell the idea. This will allow me to understand colour theory a bit better for the rest of my project as well.

I added a red glow behind the character by using a soft air brush and switching the layer to be a glow layer and lowering the opacity a bit because of how bright the red was far too strong for the effect I wanted.

Now I've given my character a slightly red harmony colour as to further connect him to the red colour.

Ancient Egypt Beliefs

Ancient Egypt beliefs seem to have some integration in todays society but traditional practices have died out, the Ancient Egyptian mythology is still found engaging today, it also has a following that still exists called Kemeticism, Kemeticism is a Neopagan religion.

Kemticism more specifically is focused on reviving the ancient Egyptian religion and beliefs associated with Ancient Egypt.

I don't mean to offend this group of people with my work, I am just using the Ancient Egyptian beliefs to help tell my story.
