Writing a Phoenix Wright x City of Angels crossover fanfic but because I started writing at 4pm it sucks and I'm going to have to rewrite 500 words already lol

A fantastic performance from the late, great, Hadyn Gwynne from the 1993 London production of "City of Angels"

The musical's plot concerns a writer, Stine, and his fictional noir detective, Stone, and the impact each has on the other as Stine is trying to write a movie using Stone. The real world interacts with the "story within a story", and vice versa, to entertaining, if sometimes complicated effect.

Stine bases a lot of the characters on the people he sees around him in the real world and this means that, like most of the cast, Hadyn Gwynne plays two roles; "Oolie", Stone's loyal "girl friday" in the movie script, and "Donna", the secretary to the film's director who Oolie is based on.

So Gwynne gets to, essentially, sing a two part song with herself in both roles, as they each bemoan their crummy taste in men. Oolie's diatribe against her boss (who is totally oblivious to her love for him), switching to Donna regretting her tendency to bad one night stands.

In a very nice touch, "story within a story" scenes are in black and white (or as close as they can get), "real world" scene are in colour. The sets were done in greyscale , with warm colours projected on to them when the real world kicked in.

Given I only knew Hadyn Gwynne from her role in sitcom "Drop the Dead Donkey" I was absolutely floored by her voice. (For a clearer version of the audio, though with no visuals, here's the soundtrack track.)

The best thing about being a small fandom is that I can say I’m Stone and Stine’s #1 fan but the worst thing about being in a small fandom is that I have no one to talk to about said characters 😔

I love Double-Talk (from City of Angels) so much

Like both Stone and Alaura both think they have the upper hand with their thinking and how they speak to each other but at the same time they also know that the other knows what they’re thinking

It’s just a back and forth of who’s the smartest but the thing is they both are on the same exact level and are fighting a losing battle of who can break the stalemate (obviously the stalemate does get broken by Alaura offering Stone the 100$ upfront but just in the song)

Also just aside from what the songs about I love how each of their dialogue becomes silenced when the other has their soliloquy-ish I think that’s what it is it looks so cool

It also just gives insight on characterization in one of the first songs and I love cool character introductions

Fandom so small there’s only about four posts on tumblr about it and one is mine, there’s no fandom wiki page for it, there are only less than ten posts about it on tiktok, and there’s nothing about it on AO3

I am fully convinced that me and like one other person are the only actual people in this fandom HELP ME
