Regarding that one post you reblogged, how did Ben solo succeed?

I think the OP meant that he succeeded in saving someone he loved, just like Rose did. Ben knew he couldn’t decline anything Snoke requests of him. There was only one thing he could do to save Rey. This time, Ben made the right choice, chose the right person, in opposite to what he’s done in TFA. It’s well-portrayed by his line “I know what I have to do”. How confident, non-conflicted and calm yet menacing he is in that moment! No resemblance to the broken, conflicted boy about to make the worst mistake of his life, saying “I know what I have to do, but I don’t know if I have the strenght to do it”. There’s even more to that. Ben has been manipulated by Snoke his entire life. One could argue, ever since he’s been in Leia’s womb. After what he thought was Luke trying to murder him, Snoke’s words were more than law, they were sacred, because it turned out that he was “right” all along. For 6 years, Ben had been constantly seeking his approval. Resisting the “it was I who bridged your minds”, as in “it was all pointless, it wasn’t real, you’re alone”, and still save Rey, having no guarantee that he’ll have anything in return - that was his personal success, in my view.

It's really an achievement to turn cute Emilia into stiff cold bitch that Dany have become. They need to make Dany more likeable like she was in first season.

I’ve been thinking about this too as it’s one of the issues I’ve had with how the show presents Dany but I’ve come to 2 conclusions:

1. Dany in the books is not much different. The only discrepancy is that the book gives us an inner monologue. We know when she’s scared, nervous, unsure of herself and even lonely. For the most part Dany is playing a Queen. A young woman commanding fierce armies and conquering foreign lands. She never wants to show any weakness or doubt in her authority. Now when she finds herself supposedly home, her last name still breeds scorn, distrust and hostility in some. What other choice does she have than to be cold and intimidating on the surface? Her enemies would eat her alive otherwise.

2. This season will work to change how the audience may see her. We already know the two events that will test her resolve: Viserion’s death and her feelings for Jon. For her to lose one of her children, something I think she’s never prepared for or even considered, will be devastating and the show needs to make that as poignant and impassioned as possible. Her relationship with Jon will work the same. She may have come to Westeros weighing up a marriage alliance but she’s definitely not expecting love. She even doubts whether she’ll ever feel something for someone again. So imagine how amazing it will be to watch this ‘icy queen’ gradually fall in love? The unwavering image of Dany being rigid and unfeeling will make any deviation from it so much more dramatic and impactful.
