It's making a class system of trans people by it existing. By playing "well what group is most affected". When that transphobia never just applies to trans women, it always affects all trans people. Of course it affects trans men. of course it affects non binary people.

Like when we talk about bathrooms, it's always "trans women in the bathroom." While this conversation still affects where trans men feel comfortable? and where non binary people are supposed to go? Both groups are still getting transphobic remarks about bathrooms. These groups still have to worry about bathrooms.

Another thought is trans people in youth sports. The conversation always centers around trans women in sports. When it hardly affects trans women. It always affects how trans men are, because a part of the "masculine" experience is playing in sports, especially in school. And of course, where do nb people fit into this system? If they play sports they have to conform to their birth sex. When that's inherently transphobic.

Another really bad point, but drives it home imo. Trans women are pedophiles. I pressed my ex friend about this because he said this. And his point was its how we dress. It's how we act (indoctrination argument lol). This is not a statement about trans women at that point, it was a point against trans people as a whole. Queer people as a whole.

My point is, transphobia affects everyone at the end of it. Just because you don't read about it in news. doesn't mean it's not happening.

I know when people intentionally misgender a "bad" trans person, everyone with common sense is like "Hey don't do that because [something about how it hurts trans people in general or how having your pronouns respected isn't something to be earned]" but whatever happened to "a member of a minority group doing something bad doesn't give you a free pass to be a bigot"?

I don't care how shitty a trans person is, you do not get to be transphobic because they're shitty. I don't get to be racist because Kanye is antisemitic. It's the same fucking logic for trans people.

I called someone out recently about their transphobic rhetoric.

I told them that's transphobic since it makes pronouns seem like they're optional if someone disrespecting someone's name.

I got told I'm wrong never explaining why other then "I misinterpreted it" and that I was mentally ill.

Solely for just calling out a transphobic statement. Not even saying the commenter was transphobic. This was a leftist conversation. They felt so attacked that I called their post transphobic. That they would attack me and my call into question my mental health. Over this.

I can't even have conversations with the type of people because they don't get that any group has the ability to be fascist.

Another aspect. In US history, the reason why the gay marriage movement was able to succeed is due to gay rights ppl making a scapegoat for all their problems. That was trans people. Mainly trans women, especially to those who are people of color.

Assimilation is the goal for minority groups. You want to seem just like an average Joe. Irish people got assimilated because they began being extremely racist. Groups pick on other groups too apear normal.

This is a necessity. I would not be going to college right now if they didn't have financial aid programs.

I would say it depends on your college, mine isnt too bad with trans individuals. Tho having some private bathrooms would be nice ^^; I had to run across campus bc there were a lot of cis people in the bathroom. (Very early into being independent and trans by myself in the world so it was very scary. Now if they look at me funny I'll bite)

I would like to add another necessity

On campus dorms need to give transgender people space to use nesecities that may be hard to use in public. Ie basic hygiene (I would prefer if cis people didn't see me shaving my face). If not just making rooms not house 2+ people per room. That's weird.

Also depending on your college, professors are held up to the universities standards. Be loud if something is wrong. (Course some situations are unsafe so if you can't totally fine. Do what makes you feel comfy. Just don't forget you matter too.)

TransgenderFirst Scholarship- Why it's difficult for transgender individuals to afford/attend college

Anyone who has attended college or is currently attending college knows it is very expensive, and this includes transgender students.

Throughout college, some of the most important things you gain are connections and knowledge. Students can struggle with these things, having to rework their study habits or learn what's socially acceptable all over again, but this can be more difficult for transgender individuals.

A lot of trans individuals have had poor experiences socially due to their identity, especially in high school or the workplace. A large amount of transgender people have been ostracized by some of their peers, bullied, threatened, or ridiculed. On top of that, these same things may have happened or are happening with family members, meaning less financial and emotional support at home. Many have also been kicked out or disowned, myself included, due to their identity. With all of these things in mind, it can be very discouraging for transgender individuals to interact with their peers or professors due to fear of being bullied or ostracized. This can make it difficult for trans people who are struggling to get the help they need to stop struggling. If trans individuals feel they cant speak to their professors or peers for help, they may just sit in silence until its too late to fix anything.

Transgender students are just like anyone else in college right now: they probably can't afford it any more than anyone else. Not to mention gender-affirming care is getting more expensive and difficult to receive.

Luckily, there are a few solutions to make transgender students' lives a little easier.

Making it easier for every student to afford college. This can include student loan relief and more resources being available. This helps both regular and transgender students.

All-gender restrooms being available in most, if not all, student buildings on college campuses. Some colleges have already started doing this.

Staff and faculty being made aware or trained on how to help transgender students.
