reminds me of one of those “”””””troubled teen”””” camp (money making scheme) docs I watched last year. They interviewed an elderly woman who had been a part of the abuse but was a rare adult from back then who would talk to the filmmakers.

she had an incredibly disturbing perspective that the kids lashing out to try to SURVIVE was full justification for what “discipline” she had provided. Fully no ability to see or name that if you goon kids into a prison away from all their connections and normal lives, and treat them in torturous ways YOU STARTED THE VIOLENCE BITCH. They are the ones acting in self defense. Fuck.

It’s also worth noting that she was the only one willing to talk and she was a very NOT powerful person who was exploited in the system too. She wasn’t the one making the money, but she was the one acting like the boot on the throat for peanuts.

Always question the missing reasons when a mental health professional talks about how they have been punched, bit, spit on, exc. Those who are hospitalized are routinely subjected to forced drugging, restraints, forced stripping, coercion, manipulation, violence, and isolation. They are detained and are often given no escape on their own terms. A psych sees any act of violence they commit as self-defense no matter the actual circumstances, and any retaliation or attempt at self-defense by the patient as violence.

Idk how many of you have been reading the news, but this treatment of immigrants to the USA is set to cause a constitutional crisis. If things continue as they have been, we're going to see dissolution of rule of law much, much sooner than almost anyone had anticipated.

"Fascism" doesn't just mean "when things are really bad", it's a specific system with specific features that is built when capitalism hits a crisis point. It grows out of liberal democracy, and the transition isn't all at once.

One of the key features of full-on fascism is that the law becomes irrelevant. The current regime is trying to speedrun the transition to fascism by repeatedly breaking laws and waiting for packed courts to sort out what's legal.

This is an incredibly effective strategy. Because these breaches of law are set to be addressed in courts, people believe there will be redress, which has worked brilliantly to reduce opposition to these crimes.

Trump's regime is also targeting groups considered inherently criminal in American racism, so outcry is even smaller.

Trump is openly defying law and court orders, and resistance to his regime is being coopted by centrist groups who want to avoid doing anything actually effective, funneling angry people into purely symbolic protests with no threat to his power at all.

We are watching the USA begin its final stage of transition to fascism.

Every TV show that goes beyond 3 seasons needs to hire a council of autistic peeps from the fandom. Ya know the ones who have said show among their most special interests, who the studio can pay for them to consult w/ the writers for basic “is this new script consistent with everything we’ve already written and put in universe” type shit.

I’m so serious.

The way shows will miss continuity errors across their own characters’ backstories and fumble cannon details across the years is so frustrating to anyone for whom “cannot turn off details tracking” is a brain default. so basically, pay us to help you, Hollywood 😂
