the thing about mulder and scully is. the thing is. they’re not friends. they’re not siblings. they’re not lovers. they’re none of those things. they’re coworkers. so whenever it seems like the x-files are going to be taken away from them they are so terrified that whatever it is between them is going to be taken too. because they don’t actually have a place in each others’ lives. but they also dont know how to live without the other.

They’re already sitting right next to each other! Shoulder to shoulder! But as he tucks her in he scoots closer so they can be hip-to-hip and thigh-to-thigh for a moment before he gets up 😭
