Sir, you’ve known me all year. You like me, admit it. I don’t wanna.  I’m one of the good kids what are you so afraid of? Okay, guys. It’s seventh-grade spring fever, which leads to dating, which leads to movies, which leads to popcorn, which leads to putting your hands together in the dark touching the popcorn, which leads to holding hands, which leads to that. Oh, I am not ready for this.

                   “your mother && i haven’t been on a date in                     a while, so you please don’t back out now.”

       “really? then i guess i should just take back my babysitting offer           and you guys can hangout with us instead of going out tonight.”

                    he’s grinning from ear to ear as she gets down to his level. fingers brush against his cheeks && she’s saying yes && he’s happy. everyone’s always thought that after sixteen years, they wouldn’t have made it, but they’re here && better than ever. they’ve never needed to prove anyone wrong, because they’ve always just done them, but it was nice to know that they have. he kisses her back before their foreheads are resting against each other, but he brings his lips to her nose to kiss it && lets out a small laugh of his own. “topanga, you look beautiful no matter what you wear. i love you.” taking one of her hands in his, he slips the ring on her finger.

she can’t help it as the happy tears fill her eyes. the past sixteen years have been the best of her life. they’ve laughed, they’ve cried, they’ve fought, they’ve loved. but without each and every thing, they wouldn’t be where they are today. so as she listens to him speak, she places her hand over her heart, and kneels down to his level, placing both hands on either side of his face. she laughs through her happy tears, as her thumbs brush across his cheeks. “i’d love nothing more. you bring so much joy to my life, cory matthews. you are and always will be my whole life.” she brings his face closer to hers, and presses her lips softly to his before letting their foreheads rest against each other. “if i had known i might’ve gone for something other than sweatpants.”

                      you know if riley ever fell in love with winnie the pooh, it’d be cory’s fault, because he’d secretly do the nursery while topanga’s not around. he’d think she shouldn’t be on her feet, so he’d drag shawn into helping him && he’d make sure it was winnie the pooh, because you can’t go wrong with character themed nurseries over colors.

                  “well, ya have to. i have your anniversary present ready.” he’s been telling her all day that she had to wait for it to be finished, making her stay in the living room the entire time. the smile on his face grows as he hears her speak, shaking his head though he’s sure she can’t see him with his hand still over her eyes. “i don’t think that’s going to be an issue to worry about anymore.” he states confidently as he moves his hand away from her eyes. “happy anniversary, topanga.” there in front of her was the nursery completely finished with a winnie the pooh theme.

“CORY, i don’t want to get up…” topanga whines as she rolls her head to the side to look at him, her hand resting on her bump. their daughter is due in about a month, and she feels like she is still getting bigger every single day. “cory…” topanga mumbles once more, before finally getting up off the couch. “okay, where are we? we just walked down the hall, so it’s either our room or our daughter’s, which by the way we still need to decorate…”

Happy 16th Wedding Anniversary Cory & Topanga Matthews! (November 5th 1999)

                    there’s a smile on his face as she enters the room, holding up the ring for her to see. if there’s one thing he’s ever been sure of, it’s them && that they could make it. out of every marriage out there && the divorces that came along with them, he had always been so sure that theirs would be the one to last. sixteen years later && he’s never been more sure. “topanga. we have been together our whole lives, but these past sixteen years have been everything to me. our life, our family, it’s more than i ever could have imagined my own life to be. i have you to thank for it. i have you to thank for making me the happiest man alive. will you do me the honors of marrying me again? in renewing our vows?

she’s brushing out her long, damp hair in the bathroom, frustrated when the brush snags another knot. “why… do… you… hate… me!” topanga crinkles her nose as she, rather aggressively, finishes brushing out her light brown waves. tomorrow was her and cory’s anniversary, and she couldn’t wait to spend the day with him. their anniversary was definitely one of her favorite days, if not her favorite, of the entire year. yawning slightly, topanga lazily changes into a pair of sweats and a t-shirt, before making her way out of the bathroom. hearing cory call her name, a smile appears on her lips. “yeah, one sec!” topanga whispers as she runs her fingers through her hair one more time. walking down the hall, she feels her heart stop when she sees cory in the doorway. “cory… what are you doing?” now it’s beating so loud, she’s pretty sure it’s going to wake the kids up. but at this moment, it was just them – cory and topanga – in a world of their own.
