↬ hammer me to the cross of my despair (1) – look, i love torture and despair just as any other gal, but aftercare? looking out for each other after horrific violence? tending to each other’s wounds after almost escaping an execution by hanging? all of that and more in this stunning continuation of The Disturbing Murders at Keddie Cabin (0) by cantwritegood, which actually leads me to my absolute favourite story by cantwritegood (this author needs a new name bc it’s just a straight up lie)↴

↬ The Bizarre Road Trip Of A Missing Family (3) – not really enemies to friends to lovers and more like two guys who love to hate each other and that pretty much stays the same throughout the whole fic, but godamn do i love their banter and the dialogue- i laughed out loud multiple times, you guys, this fic is freakin funny and heartwrenching! premise: shane’s dabbling in creative accounting, always on the run, always charming and unpredictable and hot on his heels, always, detective Bergara, who is getting fed up with the former’s shenanigans - and now they have to work together for a bigger goal ?? DRAMA

↬ Black Sun (2) – the fucking WORLDBUILDING ?? it’s a detective urban fantasy AU and Ryan and Shane are the only supernatural cop team who are both human. or are they? secrets! mystery!! supernatural racism and prejudice against demons! (also demonic cannibalism? seriously this fic is so creative ..!)

↬ In Between Ghosts (1) – look, it’s about ryan watching shane sleep during one of their haunted mansion sleepovers and its just cute. CUTE!! (nightmares included, all that good stuff ;u;;)

↬ The Worst Demon Ever (4) – a demon!shane fic and it has everything you need: worldbuilding, demonic marriage, demon vs demon fights, threats of hellish torture, demons bein dicks, demons bein multifaceted villains with more than one motivation - beautiful .. ;__;

↬ In These Frozen and Silent Nights (evolves from 0 to 4 but ah man this is one epic coherent slow burn) – the boys are snowed in and the only entertainment left are cat puzzles and and truth or dare games - this one is funny and sad and somber and i really like it a lot -u-  this is also one of those rare ones where ryan isn’t just the straight man for shane’s goof ups. there’s actual character which makes this just great.

↬ A Ghoul’s Guide to Life, Death & Afterliving (3) – this one is just …. really really special. besides cellard00r’s fics this is the one i’ve already read multiple times and it’s always gut wrenching. ryan moves in another apartment and what do you know, turns out it’s haunted. but the spirit seems mischievous and harmless and ryan soon gets over his fear and starts snooping around for more information about shane the friendly ghost and why he seems stuck in this mortal realm. you guys. this fic will make you laugh, cry, punch you in the gut, mug you in a dark alleyway – the full program. you’ll love it.

AND OF COURSE (drumroll)

↠ ↠ THE BONDED SERIES (from a 1 to 3 i guess? look it’s perfect) by @cellard00rs – i don’t think i can praise this fic enough, but let’s start with this: it’s demon!shane but the boys still banter around, still make each other laugh, and it just fits shane’s character so well that he’d be this millenia old being- he’s weird and he wants to eat pickles out of ponds, what did you expect?? no, but really, all that aside: i don’t ship shyan and i consumed this whole series in two nights. again, it’s that rare mix of writing, that’s (i think) so hard to do: write funny, but also write dramatic and take your story seriously at appropriate moments- cellar just nails it and i thank the pagan gods every day for that :’)

I don’t have, like, one in specific but I think a lot about

Ryan running outside the Sallie House and Shane running behind him to encourague him to go back inside and finish their damn first demon investigation ever, and the fact that it worked. (Shane mentions this during a panel at an event last year and in a live q&a).

Every single time Ryan looks up at Shane with scared as fuck eyes waiting for him to have a reaction to the anything happening in that moment, even when he knows Shane probably doesn’t see it the same way as him and the fact that Shane usually says something stupid in that moment and makes him laugh.

Or the fact that Ryan always looks back/up at Shane to make sure he is listening to him/agreeding with whatever explanation he is giving, regardless of if Shane believes what Ryan is stating at the moment, and the fact that Shane either nods or looks back, doesn’t matter he doesn’t believe in that, he knows is the right explanation Ryan has either researched or believes to be right, and it’s the answer they are giving.

Shane looking at Ryan for prolonged times while he’s speaking or walking, without saying a single word, just looking at him.

Those weird lil videos of Ryan and Shane going shopping and going to a pub.

Bathtube moment in the Dauphine hotel. Come on.

Also that one time they touched hands and Ryan didn’t jump in the Voodoo episode.

Height difference moment in that same episode when Shane doesn’t have to even make an effort to see the damn graveyard and Ryan has to jump to see.

The entire Boysenberry video is a fucking GIFT. I love them.

Those moments when both do the exact same thing at the exact same time without even noticing.

Also Shane doing this on purpose on the Rolling Hills post mortem.

Shane sounding so genuine about believing Ryan would have saved JFK.

The way Ryan looks at Shane every single time he does something Too Extra And Too Weird™ + “I wish I was pretending”. Guy is stuck with this giant dork but no way he’s changing that.

Ryan taking aesthetically pleasing pictures of Shane, sometimes posting them without caption (aka probably just posting because he really liked that pic/that moment, like– Love me some good frienship).

“And I don’t believe in you, but my friend Ryan does, and he’s smart… I wouldn’t say rational, but pretty smart” which is the follow up to Shane’s iconic ya boi moment, and also shows how he can’t talk about Ryan without mentioning at least once that he thinks he’s (incert something positive here).

Shane immeditally reminding everyone in the room Unsolved is Ryan’s baby during the q&a at the short film festival he was invited in his hometown.

Ryan crying over a nightmare where aliens killed Shane and putting him on the same lavel as his close family.

Every instance of Shane saying something in That One Commanding Voice and Ryan immeditally doing as he is saying/looking at him in silnce.
