I'm a little nervous posting about this again, but-

Hi (＠´ー`)ﾉﾞI'm the little guy behind the curtain that runs this blog. As of January, I'm starting up my degree again after having to put it on hold due to the pandemic.

Which means I just got the bill for my classes and- ah...hahaha... aaaaah (ಥ﹏ಥ)

a really great organization that i don't see any posts about here is HEAL palestine. it was founded by steve sosebee, who was a founding president of the PCRF before leaving in late 2023 to refocus his efforts on heal palestine to better meet the needs of palestinians impacted by the genocide. the organization provides palestinians in gaza with food, clean water, shelters, "makeshift classrooms," and even medical evacuation for some children when it's possible--their services are pretty wide.

you can donate here if you would like to send a tax-deductible donation to an organization. also, i don't think any evacuations are possible right now, but if you're in the united states and you'd like to welcome medically evacuated children in the future, i highly recommend signing up for their newsletter or following them on social media so you can stay updated in case any children evacuated by HEAL come to your area for treatment. welcoming these kids at the airport is a really moving way to provide them with moral support, entirely for free.

I have been thinking about this all day..

Consider... what if Sonic got attached to the custom character so fast because they were the first person he knew was real in months

Like, let's say that Infinite used his illusion powers to make Sonic think his friends had come to rescue him on multiple occasions, and let's also assume that he's only ever drawn on Sonic's memories for the illusions because I like it when magic powers have a limit

Sonic always takes the escape opportunity no matter how many times it's a trick because he's Sonic, he refuses to give up even after all this time - but his expectations are pretty low. He's "escaped" from prison a bunch of times, with and without his friends in tow, nothing about this time seems any different.

...Right up until he sees someone he doesn't recognize. Which has never happened before. Sonic's a smart cookie, he'd have figured out by now that Infinite only ever uses his past to taunt him, if he could've been including strangers this whole time he definitely would have.

But the custom character is completely unfamiliar to him, and that means that everything that's happening is real.

And they're even here to save him?? Hello??? New best friend?????

So of course he's going to want to do joint missions with them like they do in the tag team levels; they give him a sense of security that he hasn't had since the war started. Which isn't to say that they don't genuinely become buddies, of course - there's a reason their theme song is Fist Bump - but I think this would add a really interesting layer to their dynamic.

It could even open Sonic up to a type of arc he's never needed to have before: learning to be confident in himself and his own perceptions again, without needing the custom character by his side all the time. It makes the scene where they part ways just as much about the OC coming into their own without relying on Sonic as it is about Sonic finally being able to move forward without relying on them.

I don't even have any specific scenes in mind, but can you imagine how compelling that would be as a central part of the story?? Sonic would still give the OC his classic, inspirational pep talks, but this time they'd be able to return the favor and help Sonic take his own advice about believing in yourself despite your fears. It would be so sweet

truth be told, i would love to see a sonic game where sonic isn’t the main protagonist, he actually becomes the antagonist.

hear me out, i think that it would be pretty cool if there was a sonic game where in their adventure, something goes awry and sonic ends up on the wrong side. ultimately having to figure out what’s wrong with him and to bring him back. i think it would give other characters more of a chance to shine in a playable aspect. maybe bringing back the ‘06 style of playing as sonic (before things go wrong) shadow, and silver.

this idea came to me after playing spider man 2, and to have a boss battle against peter as miles. i think it would be so sick to have a final boss battle where the boss is sonic himself. and the line that peter says ‘im a hero, i dont get saved’ kinda stuck with me and gave me thoughts on it happening within the sonic universe.

although i fear it wouldn’t happen, as sega holds heavy mandates on sonic, where one of them doesn’t allow sonic to ‘lose’ in a sense. however, i think with the angsty story that frontiers had, i would hope we’d be in the right direction. idk. i just think it would be cool.

sega needs to allow more angst and seriousness to continue in the stories in future games. it makes it more interesting.
