The Fifth Doctor is like a dad to his companions, but in varying ways

Nyssa is like the daughter that Five has raised and loved, but he still doesn’t always know what to do and can be a little distant.

Tegan is like Five’s daughter-in-law who he sometimes tries to connect with and sometimes just wants out of his house.

Adric is like Five’s estranged son who he raised for a while before leaving for a few years, leaving Adric with some good nostalgic memories but also some bitterness. And when Five comes back into his life, he fails to meet the expectations of being how Adric remembered him as.

Turlough is like Five’s step-son who wants to get rid of him and constantly hatches little plans so he goes away, but they keep bonding little by little to the point where when Five seems like he actually might leave when he feels like Turlough doesn’t want him around, Turlough really wants him to stay now.

Peri is like Five’s neighbor’s kid who came into his house, ate all the food, never left, and is pretty much just considered part of the family at a certain point.

Kamelion is like Five’s dog that he initially didn’t want, started getting attached to, and then ended up having to put down.
