The real problem with the classics corner of tumblr is that it's deeply unbalanced. There are not enough hellenists going insane over random ancient greek politicians. The latinists are giving it their all and being completely unhinged on main and we aren't matching their energy. This simply cannot stand.

Re-Drew these three! Gave them some animals ! Kri-Kri - "The kri-kri is not thought to be indigenous to Crete, most likely having been imported to the island during the time of the Minoan civilization."

Alosa macedonica -"The specific name means "of Macedonia", the refion of Greece to which thuis fish is endemic." (I just wanted to take an endemic fish of Greece to also use later for Macedonia) Mammuthus creticus- "an extinct species of dwarf mammoth endemic to Crete sometime during the Early Pleistocene to early Middle Pleistocene." Decided to make then the Mycenaen Civilization's animal because of the fact that Fossils of prehistoric elephants may have inspired the Greek myth of the Cyclope! A copy and paste of the previous post with them: The Cycladic culture was a Bronze Age culture (c. 3100–c. 1000 BC) found throughout the islands of the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea. Being a Culture between islands I decided to make them dolphins , (the current national animal of Greece!) to make then swim around the islands !

The Minoan civilization was a Bronze Age culture (3100 – c. 1100 BC) which was centered on the island of Crete.

Decided to keep them a Minotaur!

Mycenaean civilization was the last phase of the Bronze Age in ancient Greece, spanning the period from approximately 1750 to 1050 BC. It represents the first advanced and distinctively Greek civilization in mainland Greece with its palatial states, urban organization, works of art, and writing system.

Kept them as a Cyclop for Cyclopean masonry: "...Pausanias attributes all of the fortifications of Tiryns and Mycenae, including the Lion Gate, to the Cyclopes..." also : "Mycenaean Greek is the earliest attested form of the Greek language, dating back to the Mycenaean civilization (16th to 12th centuries BC) on the Greek mainland and Crete. It was written in the Linear B script, a syllabic system, and was primarily used for administrative and economic records rather than literary works."

Look, I like Ragatha as much as the next guy but to me, she’s a work friend. You talk to her at work but forget about her on the way home. She’s nice. Kind and caring but it’s obviously a coping mechanism, she’s trying way too hard to pretend everything’s alright. When Pomni said that she can think for herself it made me realize how much Ragatha was basically projecting her feelings through Pomni and I think that’s why she’s visibly bothered by seeing Jax and Pomni getting along. She’s been trying so hard to connect to Pomni only to see Jax do it effortlessly. Her having a controlling mother explains SOOO much about her behavior. She’s so nuanced I love it.

Aphrodite 🕊️🩷

ermmm hi first posts are always awkward but here's my Aphrodite I don't know. How tumblr works. 😅‼️What are all these things on my screen hell

Here's some details about her design... 🗣️

~ HER HAIR is fastened into a heart shaped bun by arrows! 💘 Of course a nod to her cheeky son, as well as just general imagery of "falling in love". Also, chains of bubble braids adorned with hearts down the length of her hair (cause don't bubble braids look like little pearls?? 🩷), as well as her hair fading to white at its ends, just like foam gathering at the ends of crashing waves 🌊 ~ SEAFOAM! I wanted to add lots of seafoam and ocean vibes– since that's what she was literally born from– so waves, and thin, perpetually wet fabrics (like the ones she's usually depicted wearing– whenever she's wearing clothes at all– in classical paintings!), and lots of actual seafoam all over her! ~ DEATHLESS AND INHUMAN, as signified by her more godly traits! She has teal-tipped nereid-like ears, and similar teal freckles dusted over her joints. Plus, she's got pearls for irises! And of course, those wings– dove wings, her sacred animal! As previously mentioned in my aeneas design (see my IG highlights! I'll post it here one day soon), she has super long hair, a trait I'm trying to keep wherever I can in divine/half-divine characters! ~ HER GOLDEN BELT of course I didn't forget to include it who do you think I am 🙄 YES I know it's a girdle now but my first impression of it was a thin little band okay?! ~ THOSE COLUMNS IN THE BACKGROUND I tried to fill them up with genitalia motifs. Just having fun with the sexy part of it LOL can you see them all?

SOME DETAILS ABOUT HIS DESIGN! vv

-RED FLOWERS similar to the ones that sprouted from his blood when he died 🌹 they're on his bandana/headband (he has a matching one with Teucer!), necklace, around his waist, on the cloth tied around his sword, and even engraved into his sword and shield if you look closely! - BOAR TOOTH EARRING as in some accounts, ajax took part in the Calydonian boar hunt (although the timelines don't seem to add up to me? Unless Ajax is super old somehow, which wouldn't make sense since he's explicitly much younger than Odysseus... Eh whatever... These timelines never make sense anyway...) - YES HE IS SUNBURNT get my boy some spf50!!! -TRIDENT & WAVES on his shield, as although Ajax has no patron God (and took pride in that in Sophocles' play about his death!), Poseidon did bless him once in the Iliad! Plus, his feud with Odysseus just makes me excited to add little nods to Poseidon, and I needed something to put on his shield lol - HES A WIDDLE CUTIE PATOOTIE awwwwisnt he so cute my widdle guy awwhhh he's just a widdle guy guyssss look he's a widdle guy... - ALL I HAD TO WORK WITH was very little (like many of these guys, there's barely any description of their looks), all I had was that he was super huge, bearded, and had dark curly hair, so I tried my best to incorporate that!
