Happy Gotcha Day to my tiniest boy, Zeke — aka Lil’ Pancake 🖤

One year ago today, I drove Zeke home from a cat sanctuary in torrential rain. He cried the whole drive and got so scared he released his anal glands, and I was just so nervous for this little guy! He grew up in a large semi-feral colony, and he is (still) the only one who made it out. We truly didn't know if he was adoptable, and I wasn't sure how he'd handle living in a house after being outdoors for so long.

Within an hour of arriving home he was sitting in my lap, purring and enjoying belly rubs. In less than two weeks he fell in love with Desmond, one of my other three boys, and follows him around like a lovesick puppy to this day. And over the next month, he blossomed into the silliest little clown, becoming the most fun-loving and easy-going guy. He acts like being a pampered house cat is all he's ever known.

Zeke is proof that cats are resilient, adaptable, and extraordinary. He fills my heart with such warmth every single day. Here's to many more years with this absolute doofus.

Happy Siamese Cat Day!

Siamese cats are known for their striking blue eyes, sleek coats, and chatty, affectionate personalities. Their iconic coat pattern is actually a genetic trait called "point coloration". It’s caused by a temperature-sensitive enzyme that produces darker fur on the cooler parts of their body like the ears, face, paws, and tail. Even cats that aren’t purebred Siamese can carry this gene, which means you’ll find Siamese-style markings in mixed-breed cats of all colors.

Gucci and Hazelnut by Whisker & Howl

Gucci is feral and a member of a large, bonded colony called the "Shoe Crew". They were rescued around the same time Hazelnut was dumped/thrown over a fence. The Shoe kitties adopted him and he is now an honorary member. Gucci will likely always be feral, Hazelnut is semi-feral and will allow you to give him pets only when he crowds the food prep table during wet food time.

my name is Drew and i am a professional pet photographer. i've worked with animals in general for over a decade. i do paid, private photography sessions, but i also do tons of volunteer work with local rescues and nonprofits.

a lot of the kitties you'll see here are either available for adoption, or are permanent residents at a cat sanctuary because they are not adoptable. many of these cats have serious medical issues, behavioral issues, trauma, or are just flat out feral. they are responsibly free-roaming on fenced, secluded land and are very well taken care of!

i'm a huge advocate for animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. i post more of that kind of stuff on my instagram, along with even more rescue animals available for adoption. any support in finding homes for these animals is greatly appreciated!
