Lucy has made comments about how she needs to be in the system to make changes. I honestly feel that Lucy becoming a patrol Sargent would make more sense. Her interactions with the public is her greatest strength. Going UC and becoming a detective pigeon holes her in many ways. While she is great at it, that doesn’t mean she has to do it. And everyone on the show doesn’t need to be a detective. Lucy has also shown she could be a Sargent and in being a Sargent she can work to have changes made.

I was driving home and the song Not Fair by Lily Allen started playing and it made me think of when Lucy says “he’s just not…”. Chris and her didn’t communicate well so I feel like that would have carried over into other aspects of the relationship. Possible fic idea here.

At the beginning of the episode Smitty tells Tim he owes him a beer for letting him know he gets paid over time for his court duty. At the end, he tells Lucy he is going to watch Monday night football (even though Lucy points out it’s not Monday). Maybe he goes to the same bar as Tim and they both end up there when Smitty leaves Lucy at the trailer so Smitty buys Tim that drink and of course Smitty has a big mouth and brags to Tim about how he got Lucy to clean his trailer for an easy trade of information about a job. Tim of course figures out that that was the reason all the shifts of Sargents occurred and now knows it was because of Lucy. He then shows up at the trailer to help her and thank her (and, well, later they can enjoy the evening together, probably with a lot of soap)

I feel like this daddy cop opening would have been so much better if it had been on Lucy and Tim’s last day riding together. Tim’s reaction would have been so good. And Lucy would have probably made daddy cop jokes. Of course she would have probably told Angela about it too and Tim would never live it down. They would have probably downloaded the footage too.

So, if Tim's going to Metro we get more of this, right?

And this?

And... this?

Oh, and this.

Oops. Well hell,... yeah that one too.

Ya know, i get a little outraged...
Celina's getting a medal for shoving a kid out a window? Jackson got a medal as a rookie as well. Nolan got himself a golden ticket...
Lucy took down two major drug lords on her first undercover operation. She walked through a house that was literally rigged as a minefield to apprehend a literal terrorist in the very same episode that earned Jackson and Tim their medals that time. She jumped off the top of a parking structure to chase after a criminal. She was the only one to find a lead on Rosalind after her escape. She fought off her neighbor's stalker with nothing but improvised weapons.
Where the hell are Lucy's medals and golden tickets???

This just came across my screen and I immediately thought of Lucy’s last day as a rookie. “I have feelings for you.” And then she try’s to play it off as just kidding.

@harrietmjones had made a post about Lucy’s bed breaking and I thought up this little idea for a cold opening because seriously, that bed did not seem very sturdy when she was just dreaming about Tim in that episode.
The opening would be Tamara is coming out of her room in the morning and suddenly hears a loud crashing noise come from Lucy’s room. She is worried about Lucy but then is hesitant to run into her room like she normally would because now that Tim and Lucy are obviously together they come and go more freely and she doesn’t know if Tim is in there or what their state of dress is. She hesitantly knocks on Lucy’s door and asks “Lucy are you okay?” Lucy replies “Um, yeah, I think. You can come in.” She opens the door and Tim (in boxers) and Lucy (in her floral robe) are standing there looking at the broken mess of bed. Tamara says “guess we’re going to IKEA (or their knockoff of IKEA)” excited for a shopping trip.

Lucy needs a new person. While she does have Tamara, that is not the same as what she had with Jackson. Tamara has more of a surrogate mom/daughter or little sister relationship. Lucy still needs someone that is her person like how Tim has Angela. Maybe it can be Aaron but I’m still not sure about that.

This is definitely not how it is going to go in the show, but it is probably a good fic idea.
Tim ends up working with Chris and it is awkward but Chris doesn’t figure out that Tim and Lucy are together. Chris only asks how Lucy is doing the first time they interact and then they only talk about the cases after that. Tim only ends up in this position for a few weeks before he moves to a position as Training Sargent for Mid-Wilshire. He now is in charge of TO’s and rookies (essentially Nolan’s boss) and works at the academy a few times a week.
Nyla requests to start working with Lucy for the Elijah case since Angela can’t work that case and Lucy becomes a Detective. Months later she ends up having to do a deposition for a trial. This is when she runs into Chris. She goes to the DA’s office for the deposition and Chris is shocked to see her.
“Lucy what are you doing here?”
“I’m here for the deposition on case 4875.”
“I’m working that case but I have that Officer Bradford is supposed to give the deposition. Why are you here instead of Tim?”
“I’m Officer Bradford now, actually it’s Detective Bradford.”
Lucy may or may not be pregnant too. It could add a little more to it if she were visibly pregnant when she showed up. Chris might even think it is his even though it had been so long.
Just a thought that had me cackling in my head and had to put it out there. If anyone is a fic writer feel free to steal this idea and go with it. I am not a fic writer and would totally butcher it if I tried.

That scene when Tim talks to Grey was so significant. In my opinion it was the most important scene of the episode. He had that conversation with Grey when he was with Rachel about transferring and Grey had told him if it was the right person it would be the right move. Then when he was in the hospital with him and Ashley was asking him to retire, he told him of the benefits if that is what he wanted. Now Grey knows how serious it is with Lucy because he sees what he is willing to give up for her. He reminds him that he isn’t going to like the job and that professionally it is not the right place for him. When he asks if it’s serious, it’s just a confirmation, he already knows because Tim is willing to give it all up for her. Grey should be the officiant at their wedding! ❤️❤️❤️
Now on to how I think things will go going forward. They put Tim into this position to bring in Chris. I kinda look forward to whatever awkwardness is coming there but a part of me doesn’t want Chris to figure it out that easily. I have a fic idea for this that I will probably post separately.
I’ve said this before, with this whole Elijah situation, they are opening up a position for Lucy to move into a Detective situation. We know she is going to be working with Nyla in future episodes. If she becomes a detective, Tim will be able to move back to patrol.
Lucy had a rough time since the end of her rookie year and she has been trying to find her place on the force and her personal life has been a mess. She has done the UC stuff and she is good at it but I think a part of it was that it was an escape from everything that was going on in her life. She sees what doing full blown UC did to Isabel and Nyla’s lives. We talk about the abuse Tim went through as a kid, but what Lucy’s parents did to her was a form of abuse as well. Pressuring your kid to do what you want and using your love as the reward is abuse. She wants to feel safe and accepted which I feel she finally has with Tim. She wants a future with him and the whole family thing. She won’t want to jeopardize that and she won’t want to put Tim in the position of worrying about her and worrying that what happened with Isabel could happen to her.
