I Won!
Let me preface this by saying I have never really won anything such as a raffle or prize from a survey/feedback before. Especially not one that I’ve really really wanted before.
Anyway, because I’ve been reading and interested in so many Korean books in translation, I was introduced to Korean Literature Now, ‘A quarterly Literary Magazine by the Literature Translation Institute of Korea’ as stated on their website. I was able to sign up for their newsletter just in time for their 10th Anniversary special. It was awesome, not only did I get mail from Korea, but it was packed with short stories, essays, and poetry - all in translation. And it just so happened that they were also running a giveaway for reader feedback. The book they were giving away was I’ll Go On by Hwang Jungeun, translated by Emily Yae Won and published by Tilted Axis Press. This book had been on my radar for MONTHS, but I had so many other books that I was either in the middle of or had on the docket. It seemed like the perfect opportunity not only to provide feedback on something that was so unique and so special to me, but to also win a book that I’ve been dying to read - win/win. Let me tell you tho, the feedback that they wanted was extensive and really made me think about what I was reading and how it impacted me. And to win something that I really wanted and that was important to me was so amazing. I’m so excited about it! I’m even listed on their website as a winner. I’ll post the link so you can see, but you should also stay and look around.
