why does nobody talk about the hero of brightwall's fate? I don't particularly like the books, nor are they entirely "canon" to my universe, but shit's tragic nonetheless.

mf tries to help out across the sea bc they're a standup guy. If they can help, they'll help. that's just the kind of person they are. They find out the darkness is back? no problem. They beat it once, they can beat it again. They push on.

Only their little solo mission completely blows up in their face, they get fucked over by the big bad dictator, and are imprisoned indefinitely.

Theresa even had the balls to step in at the end and say "yeah nah you're done. don't worry tho, we'll be just fine without you 👍" then dips. I offered some kind of peace of mind, but still, really?

in The Journey, it's confirmed that the hobw was just... never seen again after heading off to the war in Samarkand. It's very likely they just rotted in that cell.

The kingdom probably went to shit without their monarch. Logan's long gone by this point, there's no heirs in canon (although if there is, they're probably too young to take the throne). No other heros exist, and there's no solid direction for anyone to follow. Albion probably reverted back to it's previous independent city-state structure in the wake of things. reaver probably does as reaver does; and maintains some kind of authority over the people, which definitely isnt for the best. everything that was set up by the monarchy disappeared with it's last ruler.

more importantly, though, was this theresa's breaking point? was this when she realized how many she had led to their ends? Sparrow, Logan, The Hero of Brightwall, The Abbot, maybe even Lucien. How many have been lost for the sake of her cause? Was it worth it, to see their towers be raised, only to one day crumble? Was it selfish of her to know? Was this when tears fell from her eyes?

Even if this was, she was too far in to turn back. She still committed to what she gave all this for. She does the same to Gabriel, knowing it is the only way to achieve what she needs. Does her guilt outweigh the greater goal?

It doesn't, of course. In a way, she's just like the rest of them. Too focused to dwell on that which is outside of her own goals. It happened with each and every one of them, didn't it?

Maybe it's a family curse. One that leads each and every person in your bloodline onto painful roads, which only result in bitter ends.

the hardest part about being someone who is Extremely Into Fable is when you mention the games to someone whose interest in Fable is just "oh yeah i played those games when they came out, they were pretty good" and you have to pretend that you're equally normal about the fable games and they haven't permanently altered your brain chemistry
