Brendan's family love nothing more than to participate in contests and battles, something that seems off putting to him. He'd rather spend his time researching Pokemon in their natural habitats, to which his folks find very odd. They try to instill on him that he's going to become champion instead, but all he wants is to pursue a career to be a researcher, and maybe Professor one day.
