Yeah burnout is pretty common in subs moonlighting as Doms. It's like asking an introvert to make small talk at a work event or giving an extrovert a mountain of monotonous data entry without connection or novelty or drama. The further you get away from your natural resting state, the more energy it costs you.

If it's not your natural disposition, you should be upfront and honest with whoever you're playing with. You need to replenish. You're learning. You may be better suited to being a more casual 'service top' than setting yourself up to fail in some constantly available 24/7 total power exchange 'mommy' thing.

Also worth considering is what kind of Dom you want to be. If you're naturally, say, quite soft when you're a sub (think ABDL or DDLG aesthetics and conventions) then being an edgelord sadistic Dom playing around with consensual non consent may also not be for you.

Be wary of emotional vampires. Just because someone is presenting themselves as helpless and submissive and needy and it might appeal to your ego that you can help them and be their world, there are a lot of bad actors who after the initial love bombing will take and take and take and make you feel bad for not giving more. Pay attention to the red flags. Avoid these people like the plague. It's not just Doms who can be assholes.

You might do well to mix with other switches than out and out subs. This will keep your connection and intimacy going when you need something different and you need to be the little spoon for a while.

You mentioned boundaries. Have some. Discuss them at the beginning and be prepared to revisit them with regular healthchecks periodicially. Immersive roleplay is fine if that's how you want to be, but if one of the actors is married with kids and will occasionally have to disappear and prioritise their vanilla life, it's best you both know and are cool with it than find out 6 months in. Communication, honesty and consistency are key.
