Final Surrealism Piece
“Through the Looking Glass”
#AFAWaketech
#ArtWaketech
The surrealism aspect for this piece comes in the terrarium. I used pictures from various different objects and plants around my house to build the terrarium, as well as my mother for the figure. I tried to use pictures that all had similar lighting, and if some didn't I tried to recreate that lighting through editing.
I wanted to piece to be very whimsical and fun, so there really isn't a major theme or idea behind the piece. I just want it to create a sense of childlike wonder and imagination when viewing it. I tried to incorporate that feeling with the lighting, colors, and the objects inside the glass (the teapot, vase, and sign).
Overall I am fairly happy with the final product. In my initial proof, the colors came out much darker, so I am happy with how the final version turned out. I think I could go back in and possibly add another figure outside of the glass or maybe incorporate a more interesting background.
