At my funeral, I’m gonna hire somebody with a scar to look over my body and audibly whisper “I should’ve been the one to finally take you out.”
Alternatively, they could also whisper “They won’t get away with this. I’m gonna finish what you started, old friend.”

bad caretaking...
"take it," caretaker said, holding the pill in their palm in front of whumpee. whumpee already felt sick to their stomach and they knew the pill would make them feel worse. their head felt like it was swimming underwater and on top of everything, it wasn't even helping with the pain that much.
whumpee shook their head, afraid to see no. caretaker took a step closer and whumpee found themselves trembling. caretaker was so forceful, so intimidating. but in this moment they put their free hand on whumpee's shoulder. whumpee flinched, but caretaker just gripped them harder. "whumpee," they said, looking whumpee right in the eyes. whumpee had started to tear up - they couldn't help. "I know you don't like it. but I'm doing this for you."
whumpee hesitantly picked the pill out of caretaker's hand, and caretaker passed a glass of water. whumpee put the pill into their mouth, wondering if they could hide it to make it seem like they'd taken it. but caretaker would check - they knew it.
whumpee brought the glass upwards then rested it in front of their lips for a second. "come on," caretaker whispered. whumpee tilted the glass down just a few degrees. then all too suddenly, caretaker took another step forward, tilted the glass much further down while holding whumpee's hair to keep their head in place.
whumpee swallowed the pill and choked on some water then started to cough. and as the tears they'd been pushing down spilt over their eyes, caretaker helped them back down into bed. whumpee was weeping now from a combination of everything. the water they choked on, having to force down something they didn't want, and the general sense of unease they were starting to feel whenever caretaker said they wanted to "help."
but whumpee couldn't bring themselves to say anything. things were better now than when they had been with whumper, right? although it felt like the lines were starting to blur sometimes. but at least they had someone.
whumpee started to feel dizzy and more sick and they doubled over as a sharp pain dug through their stomach. at darker moments, they wondered if the pills were causing the pain in the first place. they let out a whimper and caretaker just rubbed whumpee's chest and leaned them back. "good, you've been very good," caretaker said, using their other hand to stroke whumpee's sweaty forehead. "maybe now you can finally get some rest."

friendly reminder that if you have a hard time eating due to nausea or other chronic illness ickies, just eat what you can eat. even if it’s not particularly “healthy,” getting calories in your body to help it function is more important.

I heard you want more VILLAIN whump?? Specifically Villains with shock collars? I propose to you:
- Villain being forced to work with the heroes, and instead of taking the opportunity for what it is, the heroes stick the shock collar on them "just in case."
- Villain is utterly shocked and rightfully pissed, but it only gets worse when the resentful teammate taunts them, saying claiming that if Villain is going to act like an animal then they deserve the collar.
- any attempts to fight back or defend themself leads to shocks ranging from a warning to utterly can't-think-straight painful.
- Maybe some of the teammates antagonize them to get a reaction or simply mess with the controls of the shock collar because it's only Villain, it's not like they're tormenting anyone important. Besides, it's the perfect opportunity to teach them a lesson.
yessssssssssssssssssssss especially that last bit
villain doesn't want to work for the heroes but the heroes shock them whenever they so much as even glare too much, let alone disobey an order
the heroes say they'll never be able to trust villain otherwise and need to keep security in place, and that the collar allows them to discipline villain when they try to do anything bad anything the hero team doesn't like
villain has a red, raw band around their neck, extra-sensitive around the the delicate skin of their throat
villain being awoken at night by shocks that jolt them out of their sleep, causing them to fall from the bed. they look up and see a hero standing above them and laughing. villain lies on their stomach on the floor in a pile of blankets, sweating, scared, breathing heavily, and oh so confused
the heroes condition the villain to obey their orders using the shock collar. villain does their tasks mutely, their eyes dead and exhausted, uncomplaining
villain claws at the collar, digging scratches into their throat, but it won't come off
villain being rescued and finally having the collar come off, but it's been on so long that it sticks to their skin and the removal is painful and leaves a red welt around their neck. a scar that will never go away

Supervillain whumperee undergoes the exact torture he inflicted on one of the heroes. When he is later found, he's crying and whimpering and barely alive, covered in burns, infected cuts, and whip wounds. The heroes, including the one he hurt, agree that even though he's scum, they cannot leave him to die. But when they approach him, he starts struggling and desperately begging for mercy. Only his previous victim is kind enough to try and calm him down. He manages to recognize them, and cries even more, apologizing for what he did, because now he knows, without a shadow of doubt, what he put the hero through.
hnnnnnnnnmmg hnngngnm gm hgn h mg this. this right here. this is the gooooood shit. hooo boy. hooooooo boy, this is good shit. im. im h aving a. im hav in g. a mo.ment. this is my favorite thing. this is my most favorite thing. this is such a trope. this is the most trope ever
and people are using my word!!! whumperee! it's catching on!!
the whumperee was not a good man. he had never been a good man. he loved the sounds people made when he tortured them, the screams, the whimpers, the pitiful keening wails in between begging pleas for him to stop, to have mercy, to kill them and end their suffering
he was good at getting inside people's heads. fucking with their minds. digging up all their old insecurities and throwing them back in their face. it wasn't for any particular purpose, but seeing them forced to talk about the things that plagued them amused the whumperee to no end
he did the same thing to the former whumpee, Team Member. all that and more.
he laughed when he did, but as it was done to him, he found that he had been wrong and nothing about this was as he'd once thought it to be. he knows now the extent of the damage he did to Team Member
whumperee was tortured for weeks longer than the amount of time he kept Team Member captive, and his torturers extracted every bit of humiliating info he had to give, tried every method of torture that whumperee had once used on others, so that whumperee now knew how it felt and regrets what he’s done
he’s left to die after expending all his usefulness, meaning that his torturers got bored of him when he stopped reacting after a while
the heroes find him lying in a pool of his own blood and barely recognize him at first, seeing his face bruised and bloodied, an eye swollen shut, cheeks sunken and hollow. his body is covered in wounds, burns, cuts, and whip lashes so much that he can barely move
whumperee sees the hero team and thinks they’re there to get revenge on him for hurting them, so he begs them not to hurt him, wheezing out the word ‘please’ over and over as he sobs fitfully, trembling on the ground
the Team Member he once hurt kneels down beside him and sets a gentle hand on whumperee’s shoulder, saying things to try and calm the whumperee down.
it has the intended effect that the whumperee realizes Team Member isn’t there to hurt him, but now he’s crying for a different reason. Team Member has every right to hurt him, to leave him there to die, and instead they’re comforting him, even after everything, and guilt swallows the whumperee whole
they keep saying that they’re sorry, they’re sorry they hurt Team Member, they don’t expect forgiveness and they don’t deserve the kindness, and the heroes watch this all with the strange sense that the dynamic has shifted so far out of what they’d been prepared to deal with

villain captures sidekick as bait for the real target, but hero doesn’t show. villain chats with sidekick, because most of the evil is just theatrics, really, and it becomes increasingly clear that if sidekick has been captured then hero must have decided that they’re too weak, and expendable. villain is already speechless when sidekick, seemingly out of nowhere, asks plaintively for “a merciful death, at the very least.” because they’re “useless”. villain isn’t sure what lies hero’s been feeding this kid, but they become determined to help sidekick unlearn them.
ohohohoho i do so love a good ol' adopting the abused sidekick story
Hero's team was full of the strongest in the city--those who weren't strong enough to come back from their missions didn't deserve to be on the team in the first place, and no rescue missions would be carried out. This wasn't common knowledge outside the team, though.
Sidekick just barely made it onto the team and worked themselves near to death to be able to keep their position, but Hero never paid any attention to them unless they made a mistake.
Hero would verbally abuse Sidekick and berate them for anything that was done less than perfectly until Sidekick began to believe their own uselessness
when they were captured, they knew there was no one coming for them, and they accepted that it was because of their own mistakes and weakness. Hero would have told them they deserved to die for it, which is why Sidekick asked for a quick and merciful death.
Villain is so shocked by the resigned way Sidekick asks, and how they speak of their own perceived worthlessness without emotion, like it was pure fact
Villain clenches their jaw, imagining how Hero is training their subordinates and assures Sidekick that they aren't useless. They're strategies were good, and if they want to succeed next time, they've got to learn to believe in themselves. To know that one mistake isn't their end.

Hero's mentor is badly injures by Supervillian, and has to retire because of it. Hero goes and finds Supervillian, and almost kills him in their fight. He holds up his hand to stop her, and she realizes she went to far.
ooooooo a nice setup for a good dose of "oh shit...am i the monster?"
Hero's mentor was at the top of their game and has to retire because of the injury, causing them to fall into a depression. Hero is crushed because she always knew her mentor to be a bright and confident person, so she decides that if her mentor is going to suffer, she's going to make villain suffer worse
Hero's mentor was getting ready to retire anyway and finds nothing wrong with this new arrangement, and doesn't even harbor any feelings of malice toward villain. Hero, on the other hand, hates that villain hurt someone she cares about and goes out to deal her own version of justice to villain
Hero beats villain within an inch of his life, using all her powers and strength and perhaps a metal pipe she picked up along the way until villain is nothing more than a bloody pulp
Villain holds up his hands to protect his face, already covered in blood and tears. He's trembling. Hero stops hitting him long enough to inspect the damage she caused, and drops the pipe, deactivates her powers.
"P-please...I'm, I'm sorry...please...have mercy."
Perhaps Villain didn't mean to injure Hero's mentor so badly they had to retire, perhaps it was just meant to be a casual fight and things went sideways. It doesn't matter now.
Hero stares down at her nemesis writhing in agony, weakly begging her to stop hurting him.
"I'm sorry..."

"Why did you save me?" Villain asks when they regain consciousness. The last thing they remember is bleeding out behind a gas station, now they're bandaged and bundled up in Hero's bed.
Hero meets the question with a smile. "I'll tell you later. For now you need to rest."
But that's easier said than done. Villain spends the first few days wearily watching the one they had previously considered their enemy.
But nothing happens.
"Why did you help me?" Villain asks again, a few weeks down the road. The wound in their side still hurts, but they're healing. Hero makes them a bowl of chicken noodle soup.
"I'll tell you later. Eat up, you need your strength."
Had they dined with Hero a month ago, Villain wouldn't have eaten a bite, suspecting poison or foul play. But now the thought barely reaches them as they finish the bowl.
And it's the best they've ever tasted.
"Why did you fix me?" Villain asks. It's been over a month now, and they can almost call themselves well. Hero is washing their hair, patient and gentle.
"Do you really want to know?"
"It's later, isn't it?"
They can hear the smile in Hero's voice as they speak. "I wanted you to trust me."
"Why?"
"Because I like a challenge."
Something in their tone doesn't sit quite right with Villain, a chill that spreads as they feel something around their throat.
"Fixing you was fun, but I think breaking you will be even better."
