"...it has always been that way, and that was my very first mistake." Odalia had always been more assertive, if not aggressive, and was quick to take charge. Alador, being the more passive of the pair, simply let her lead and do as she pleased. While he did have his moments where he stood up to her, or at least took control, they were few and far between. It was far more draining to take over, but as he now learned, it caused far too much harm to simply sit idly by while allowing Odalia to continue having her way.

—✕ █ ▌It has taken many a year for Loghain to GRASP the technology of the current age, and what he knows is still but a fraction of the grand truth. What he spoke of as a facetious possibility must be something to genuinely consider in the stranger’s world.
❝Just … don’t worry about it. I’ve been here so long, you’ll eventually get USED to it too.❞ And at least you have the eye for technology, his thoughts chime in. ❝Right. We’re here. Please don’t touch anything without my permission. If you’re hungry or thirsty I’ll be HAPPY to provide …❞
Voice trailing off as hands shuffle through his pockets for his keys. Door creaking open when he unlocks it.
Despite having more questions than answers, Alador gave a nod of his head. He was here for one purpose only, and it would take every ounce of focus he had not to get sidetracked. He also kept in mind the others request not to touch anything without permission (another bad habit of his).
As the door opened, Alador peered inside to see if anything stood out. From the entrance way alone it looked like a typical apartment, and it looked a little bit neater than the space he claimed for himself in his own apartment.
He wouldn’t be able to see more until he stepped inside.

Given how he follows curiously, it seems he’s at the least invested in Alador’s answer to his question too, and it’s a good chance to stretch his legs lest he be overcome by aches and a stiff body.
“That’s kind of weird.” He admits as he rolls his shoulders, a hand coming up to rub at one absentmindedly. “I’ve run across plenty of humans just by going about my day normally, even when I started spending more time out during late nights.”
He’s purposely leaving out the fact he was human before for now. Maybe that would be too much of a surprise this soon after meeting? Who knows.
“I can’t picture it all being separate, myself. Although… I think I’ve heard of things like underground vampire covens before. Maybe it’s not that different. Still. How do people get back and forth between the two, then?”
“It would be weird if the realms weren’t separate,” he said. “It sounds like humans and witches, or other non human entities live side by side where you’re from. In this case, it would be weird to consider them as separate.
As mentioned before, humans exist in one world, or realm, while we witches and demons exist in another. Travel between them is quite rare, and the means of doing so are even rarer. I do believe that the primary method is through a portal of some description, but as to the mechanics and workings of such a thing, I know very little of.” He tried to remember what Amity and the other kids tried to tell him about Belos and the portal door he had, but the specifics were lost on him.

✧*:・゚| ❝THERE’S nothing wrong with thinking about it, ja?❞ He sits down, albeit HOVERING a few inches off the surface – content to watch the tinker work. ❝I just find your talents to be, ah, how shall I put it … magical?❞
PERHAPS he’s got a morbid mind of his own, that he would rather happily have played with little soldiers as a child - abomatons, what a CUTE name! - but despite being well aware of how differently his mind thinks, Siebren has hope.
❝SO, weapon-making is what you’re used to? That would … explain the emphasis on functionality.❞ Eyes flutter, focused on something that is neither here nor far off —- Weapons, oh how dangerous. ❝Ah, pardon, if you do not want to talk about your past, I won’t FORCE it.❞
“...I suppose not.” It would give him something to do in this world, though he would need to work on his aesthetics if these toys were to be well received by kids. “Well, a lot of my creations are infused with amobination magic, so you are not wrong.”
At the question, Alador paused before giving a small nod of his head. “Yes. Originally we had planned to focus just on home security and defence, but my wife suggested that we branch out. Apparently there was a market for abomination magic based weaponry.” As he talked, a frown came to his lips. “I never cared much for the weapon aspect of it all, but with everything else I simply went along with what my wife wanted.” And in the end his weapons went to serving a tyrant who had a plan to wipe out their entire race, and Odalia saw nothing wrong with this. As long as it was for the good of their family, she would go along with anything, morals be damned.
Then again he was no better, was he?

…Hmm.
“I didn’t have anything else planned.”
It really isn’t his cup of tea, mostly because he doesn’t exactly go taking apart his stuff unless he has to. But on the other hand, it could come in handy knowing where to get that stuff and he could learn a bit more of the city’s layout. Also, any self respecting adult living on their own should have a tool kit of some kind at least, anyway, and all the stuff he had back home didn’t make it here with him. At least until he can afford one though, he knows he can just grab a hold of Alador probably to borrow what he needs, seems like.
And so far, he was most familiar with his home ward — Golden — and a bit of Cotes for the little familiarity it had to him. So the trip would help in a few ways.
Either way. Edgar is going to follow Alador’s lead on this one.
The look on the other’s face when money comes up doesn’t slip past Edgar’s radar though. He frowns himself, wondering what that’s about but—
“…So.” A different curiosity gets the most of Edgar yet again.
“You’ve also been talking like the human world and yours are separate? I kind of want to know about that. Because it’s totally different for me.”
It wasn’t hard to tell Alador wasn't human either, but something about his speech and wording had just struck him as odd at first.
Judging by his response, the other was not opposed to Alador’s idea. Still, it would be good to get more explicit confirmation than just assuming he was okay with it. “If you are certain. I do not mean to pressure you into this, especially if ti is not something you would like to do.”
As the topic changed, Alador paused for a moment. “That is correct. Where I am from, my world and the human world are separate, and travel between them is rare and uncommon. However, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been done before, or that elements of my world haven’t found their way to the human realm.”

“It’s heavily debated, actually. Some people claim they can ‘see’ ghosts, but most humans can’t. And for the most part when they say they can see them it really just means like faint details - like if you’re trying to describe someone you’re looking at who’s laying at the bottom of the deep end of a pool.”
Or you could be like him and have the ghost of a little girl living inside your head.
“This equipment is usually fake as hell anyways, as far as I understand. Like it’s not confirmed or denied if it works, but it’s the only stuff that might be able to do the job, which is why people use it.”
“I see. Do you know why most humans cannot see ghosts?” Was it to do with physiology? Or perhaps there was something about the human realm that made seeing ghosts impossible. It also made him wonder if demons and monsters existed over there. Then again, they did send giraffes over there, so there might be other aspects of the Demon Realm at work in the human world.
“So these devices aren’t even confirmed to work in the first place?” And humans were using them to try and make contact with ghosts? “Unless you are testing a device, you shouldn’t use one without confirming that it works as intended.”

“If you have the stuff or know where to get a set - go for it. That’s just better then trying to mess with it without the proper tools, and we should probably check for tampering or malfunctions to be absolutely sure?”
Which he only knows anything about because Rain was always tinkering with their desktop set up. It wasn’t usually the kind of thing he did on his own time. Not a problem though clearly, with Alador here.
“Yeah, if not though, we can visit a hardware store that specializes in technology.” Not always his favorite place, but sometimes it was interesting enough.
Now he’s curious, though.
“What kind of a place are you from? I know not everyone can afford decent high tech things, either, to be fair. But most places are steeped in social media, so I think that’s normal now.” He is not exempt from this, spending a fair amount of time on it. But it helped him promote business at the hair salon at home after all. It was easy enough to be the shop’s social media manager.
“I do not have any on hand, so we will have to purchase some.” Most likely at this ‘hardware store’ the other spoke of. “I have noticed that there are plenty of stores in Fibonacci that specialize in machinery and technology, so perhaps we could start there?” Assuming that the other was interested in joining him on this adventure, that is.
At the question, Alador’s lips twisted in a small, sardonic smile. “I am from the Deamon realm, specifically the Boiling Isles. At one point, money was no issue for me, but the situation has changed.” Not only did the old money from his family fail to follow him here, there was a high chance that Odalia was the sole keeper of it. She was far more of a Blight than he was, both in his eyes and the eyes of his parents.
“I should have enough dust to afford some; I managed to pick up a few odd jobs while staying here, and they pay well.”
He paused for a moment. “We have some technology in the Boiling Isles, but it is different from that of the human world. However, these ‘smartphones’ are not too different from our scrolls.

Man this guy must be really indecisive
He’ll take his phone out of his pocket ,a little hum as he types in ‘Deep Fryer/Air Fryer’
“Looks like you can get it online, annd if online shopping isn’t your fancy there’s plenty of shops you could snatch one up at~”
“I see.” He had yet to figure out how one could shop online, so it seemed that paying the stores a visit was his only option at the moment.
“Thank you. I think I’ll buy one of each.” Better to have both so he could see the comparisons for himself.

✧*:・゚| HE’S begun to see the cracks in his own past, that he too has been used for the creation of weaponry. There’s far more joy in spreading happiness, in teaching, lest he shut down again … AND AGAIN … There’s a coldness hidden behind his pale eyes.
HE thinks he’d rather stay in the world of creation for a while longer.
❝OH yes, absolutely. Children, they like little toy soldiers and dolls. It may need to be tweaked a little, but I am certain that any little one would LOVE to play with something like this,❞ he encourages. Oh, children could be fickle and have short memories too, but if Siebren was in the inventor’s position, it would be a risk willing to take. ❝Invention and progress can come in many forms, friend! Not that you NEED me to tell you that, I’m sure.❞
Alador still had his doubts, which showed in his furrowed brow as he looked between Siebren and the little abomaton he had made. “Aesthetically they might not be pleasing for children, and I am not certain that human children would like them.” Witchings, perhaps, but not human children.
“...that is true. If these were to become toys, I would have to put more thought into an appropriate design.” Sadly aesthetics, and anything remotely fancy and eye catching weren’t his forte.

“Sort of. It depends on if you believe in that stuff or not!” Aki lifts up the spirit box in his hand, shaking it back and forth a little as a gesture to show it off.
“They’re radios that flip around randomly between AM and FM radio signals, which allows spirits to pick out the words they want to say between the channels. I don’t think most people can just talk to ghosts normally since, y’know, they’re dead people. So they have to use equipment like this.”
“That seems like a lot of work in order to be able to communicate,” It made him wonder why humans just couldn’t go up and talk to a ghost like how witches did in the Demon Realm.
“Are humans unable to see ghosts? Is that why they cannot communicate directly with them?” He also wondered just how effective these human devices were in contacting spirits.
