Suki blinked her eyes a couple of times at the woman, confusion as plain as the nose on her face. “I...I don’t know, um...have we?”

     “I’m sorry, but have we met before?”

“It sounds like a wonderful place to me,” Suki beamed. She was soon nervous at the question she had asked. To her, it was something simple, something she had been wondering about ever since she found out they were friends. She didn’t remember the special connection they shared. But Kai did, and suddenly she felt bad for bringing it up. A small blush fell upon her cheeks as he described her as cute. “I can’t say I can see you as being awkward. You seem confident, at least today. I’m sure you’ve grown a lot since we were kids. Of course, I’d love to hear about these adventures. You seem like someone who would know about all the good places to explore.” 

Kai couldn’t help the small bout of laughter he let out at the tiny girl’s appetite. “Yeah, they’ve got all that. Don’t worry. And really awesome fries for that milkshake too.” At her question, he peered over at her briefly, his eyes quickly shifting forward again. It was a simple enough question, but the necessity of it managed to create a small knot of guilt in his stomach. He didn’t know why he wanted to apologize so badly for something he couldn’t have controlled. “Hm… You were cute, and I was quiet and awkward. Or I was in the beginning, anyway. I warmed up to you pretty quickly,” he chuckled sheepishly. “We were avid adventurers. And… I can tell you  more once we’re inside and settled.”

“Then you’re already doing better than most!” Suki’s stomach seemed to growl the moment he spoke of a diner. “That sounds delicious. Ooh, do they have those bacon cheeseburgers? Oh my gosh, Kai, they’re so good! And a strawberry milkshake, you simply can’t miss those. I don’t think I’m helping myself at all,” she giggled. As they fell into step toward the diner, Suki couldn’t help but ask, “What were we like when we were kids?”

“Ah, I’m still learning it I guess. But I think I’m getting there,” he smiled. “Yeah I’m totally free! And… kinda starving too. How do you feel about diner food? There’s one close by that’s been around since we were kids. I’m kind of a regular there now.”

“Maybe you could teach me!” Suki gasped with excitement at the thought. “You’re a wonderful driver, plus you’ll be with me to keep an eye on things and I’m sure my parents would feel better having you around. At least I think so. They talk about you a lot, actually, when they think I’m not around. I guess they truly think you’re a great friend. But of course I already knew that.” She gave him a beaming smile, even if her heart ached a bit at the word ‘friend’

Suki was looking up at the menu, honestly not to sure what kind of drink she wanted. Did she even like any of these drinks. “Um, maybe something fruity?” She asked to Jace, hoping he had an idea of what she liked. Anything fruity did sound pretty good. When her gaze shifted over to the boy, someone caught her attention from the cover of her eye. Soon Suki was focused on the girl who seemed to keep eying Jace up and down, a playful smile crawling upon her soft features. Suki’s hand squeezed the boys for a moment, soon pulling him a bit closer in fear if he saw her, there would go all hope of Suki keeping the boys attention. “Um, h-hey, you’ve got something on her cheek there.” Her free hand soon shut up, pretending to remove whatever it was Suki just lied about being on his cheek with her thumb. She pulled her face closer to his, as if she was studying it to make sure she had gotten it off, her thumb stroking over his cheek before she smiled. “Sorry, um, you’re good now. I think it was just a piece of fuzz or something.”

“No, I understand,” Jiyoon spoke in a soft tone, giving the other a light smile. He could understand her parents view on it, but the fact that she didn’t want to be treated like a child was entirely understandable as well. Jace was pretty sure he wouldn’t have liked it either when people would take away privileges like that. “Maybe I can try and convince them as well? Maybe if I accompany you, they won’t be as worried? I’m sure you can find some way to work around it,” He bumped against her lightly, as if it would reassure her somehow. Jace knew any type of skinship with the girl would’ve comforted him, he could only hope so much vice-versa.

“You did,” he nodded, his smile returning once again. It was somehow amusing to him at some time how he seemed to know her better than she did herself. It was confusing it some sort of way, and how awful it might be, Jace somehow enjoyed that fact. Walking into the bar, Jace felt his head already nodding to the rhythm of some cover band. “Great idea,” the boy nodded, tugging the other along towards the counter while their hands were still intertwined. “What would you like? My treat of course.”

“i-i don’t know if i can dance though,” suki bit her lip as the nerves began to travel through her. “i bet you’re much better at it though! i’ll just watch.”

Suki couldn’t help but shiver with a laugh at the mention of a dead rat. “See! You truly are brave. Oh no, it’s not silly at all! Never letting your feelings make you feel silly. It’s who you are. It’s taken me a bit to learn that myself,” she spoke softly. “Are you free now? I’m starving! You can pick the place if you’d like?”

“Yeah, it was a lot of fun—despite a dead rat or two,” he chuckled softly, shaking his head at the memory. “Ha, thanks. Y’know that’s always kinda been a goal of mine. To come off as brave, I mean. Silly as that might sound. But no, I wouldn’t mind at all. I’d like that, actually. Whenever you want to go, you pretty much know my schedule. Just let me know.”

“I don’t believe you could come off as rude, Neil. It’s no problem at all, honestly! It’ll be fun! And we can make all this popcorn, and get some sweets, ooh, and order a pizza! We’ll snack until we can’t snack anymore and enjoy the movies! All we need is a blanket and pillow fort and we’ll be set!” Suki wasn’t sure where all of this was coming from, but as she spoke, she realized it was something she was craving so badly. The feeling was almost...childlike! Maybe it was a feeling from her past that somehow managed to make it’s way back to her. “That’s true! Which I’m still very excited for, by the way. I just hope I’ll be a good student and not a frustrating one. Does it get difficult when people don’t understand something that you know so well about?” A giggle soon sprouted past the girls lips at his little tongue sticking out, and of course, the word play. “Mm, I believe you have a point there. It’s a warm feeling knowing I seemed like a good person, and knew how to pick better people to be around as well.”

Neil couldn’t hide the look of surprise on his face. Sure, he was pretty certain he had remembered her referencing watching all the movies they talked about with a friend, but for some reason in the man’s head he had assumed she wanted someone else to watch them with. “No, no, that’s completely fine! I just didn’t want to invite myself or anything, didn’t want to come off as rude.” Placing a hand over his heart with a smile, he gave the girl a soft nod. “I’d love to, though. It’d give us a chance to get to know each other more again, right? Besides just learning the piano of course.” It truly pleased the man that she seemed to believe his statement, not that there was anything he felt like was a lie about it, but he knew how others were difficult with compliments. The look on her face made him feel like this wasn’t the case for her. “Of course. I don’t see why someone wouldn’t want to, though. Give you a second chance that is. I guess you just seemed to pick the good friends since before you can remember, huh?” he smiled, sticking his tongue out at the word play.

“Max...um, no, I’m sorry. A face isn’t coming to mind, but I’m glad you were still able to go with someone. You two had fun, yes? You seem very brave to me. Call it intuition, but I can sense it. Hey! You wouldn’t mind maybe hanging out sometime soon? Maybe grabbing a bite to eat? It’ll be my treat.”

“Oh no, I went with one other person… Max? I’m not sure if you know him—or, uh, remember him. I like to think I’m pretty brave, but I wouldn’t go into a place like that by myself. Good idea though. I’ll try asking around town.”

“Won’t you be watching them with me,” Suki asked, her eyes looking up at the boy with a curious look. Maybe they hadn’t truly talked about watching said movies together. Maybe he was simply informing her of the movies. “You don’t have to, if you don’t want to. But it seems like a movie that would be fun to watch with a friend!” She beamed at this statement. A blush quickly made it’s way to her cheeks as Neil soon began to speak about just how strong she was. It was making her a bit emotional if she were to be honest. There was always a constant struggle within herself, wondering if she truly was strong enough to overcome the situations in her life. There were always other reassuring her, making her feel comfortable and safe, but the way Neil spoke to hear, it was different. She appreciated it, and was happy to have him back as a friend. “You’re absolutely right,” Suki nodded, her smile never fading. “Thank you, Neil. Not just for the kind words, but for giving our friendship a second chance. It seems the world would be pretty dark without it.”

“In that case you’ll have to let me know what you think, alright? And if you end up watching all three as well of course,” he added, his smile grown wide from her excitement, it being something he hadn’t realize he may have been trying to get out of the girl inadvertently. He noticed the small cue of the wrong emotion in her eyes at his suggestion, however, and immediately regretted his decision in telling the girl. Her following words surprised him, however, the smile still on her face, if even a smaller one. Giving back one of his own with a nod, his sign of giving a silent acknowledgment to her thanks, he bit his lip as he tried to think of her words that were arranged more like a question for him than for her. He thought about it and nodded eventually. “I think that’d be a good idea, honestly. One of the things I remember from you then and even know is that you’re a very strong person, Suki. And if you feel like there’s even a hint that wants to try it again, I think it’d be a good choice for you. You have nowhere to go but forward, right?”

Based off looks only and not the movie itself, who do you feel is the creepiest scary movie killer?

i haven’t really watched many scary movies, that i remember at least. i think there’s one i might have seen called the grudge? she looks very scary.

What is your favorite quality about yourself? External and internal?

um, i guess externally, i feel like i have a well toned body? it’s always nice to feel comfortable in your own skin. internally, i feel that i’m very caring and compassionate to others around me.
