i'm really glad to hear you're still doing them! this is my boy, auron. he's the prince of a small kingdom and next in line for the throne (it was his brother, before said brother was banished.) auron is sheltered, perpetually high-strung and anxious, and does not know who he is outside of peoples' expectations for him. he goes through unbelievable amounts of trauma!

i didn't include it because it wasn't an option with the picrew, and you don't need to include it if you don't want to, but auron is supposed to have a birthmark- a large reddish discoloration on the right side of his face, covering pretty much his entire cheek.

Fantasy drugs 👀

-A stimulant that enhances every sensation. Every touch, no matter how gentle, feel like sandpaper on your skin. What would be mild pain becomes agony, pleasure becomes overwhelming to the point of pain

-Ever heard of locked in syndrome? Make it a drug. The body is paralyzed, unable to move. But every sensation remains, and the mind? The mind is fully aware. Whumpee hears, sees and feels everything. They're all too aware, and they will remember. Unwanted touches, excruciating pain, they're aware of it all, completely, totally helpless. They can't even scream.

-a drug that temporarily mutes all your senses. You're still very much aware, you're fully conscious, and it differs from locked-in drug in that you're not paralysed. You're just deafened, blinded, you can't smell or taste or feel anything. You won't even feel the pain until it wears off. It probably wears of gradually too - maybe you smell the blood before anything else. Maybe you see the horrific wounds before you feel them. Or hear cruel taunts as they tell you what they've done to you before you can see or feel it for yourself.

-Enthralling drug. With a mix of whumpers DNA, they render you an empty shell, existing only to serve them. You take orders only from Whumper, who has to order you to sleep, eat, do ANYTHING. You feel nothing. You're aware of nothing. You're barely even alive. It'll wear off... eventually. Better hope Whumper doesn't find a way to make it permanent.

when the whumpee is snarky and scared all at once. the backtalk is an instinct, a manifestation of their anger at the situation they're in, at the horrible things being done to them, but they regret it immediately half the time. all that bravado is false and they're terrified inside. snapping insults at whumper at the same time that they're shaking so hard it's visible, knowing that they're about to pay for it, that by the end of this they'll be crying. unable to stop either response.

What are your favorite ideas for aftermath of "noncon" scenarios? As in trauma recovery or lack thereof.

Scenarios for trauma and recovery of noncon under cut, aka me yapping

First off I really love whumpees who are... messy, in their recovery. They're so angry at themselves, at everyone around them, but they refuse to tell anyone why. They're too guilty, too ashamed to even confront the truth of what happened to them. They wind up pushing everyone away, until one day, somehow, one character finds out and it all just makes sense. I adore friends finding out of course, but I also love when enemy or rival finds out. They thought Whumpee was just a being a dick for the sake of it - bonus points if rival has noncon related trauma too.

-Adding on to that, whumpees who engage in risky behaviour in an attempt to gain their life back. I'm talking going home with strangers, getting drunk and letting themselves be taken advantage of, even if they know they've been drugged. Never saying no, to anything, even non-intimate things because they're so used to it being ignored. Just. Dangerous self-destructive behaviours just to gain some semblance of control.

-Perhaps a scenario for the first one, whumpee who never speaks a word to anyone of what happened - Whumper was someone highly respected. Team Leader, or Medic, or Hero, even just a Friend, someone beloved so whumpee things no one will believe them. They keep quiet with all this angst and rage building inside them. At a party -maybe celebrating Whumpers promotion or heroic deed- Whumpee drinks a little too much. They get into a small argument with whumper that escalates until it all comes out in one tearful confession. And personally I'm a fan of whumpee being believed immediately after this, every face in the room a mixture of concern, shock, anger and horror

-I see a lot about hypersexual whumpees after trauma and that's very good. But I really like whumpees who completely clam up at the prospect of any touch or intimacy, even non-sexual. It leaves room for some wonderful moments when the slightest innocent touch, brushing against them in the hallway - or needing to touch them to treat their injures - leads to a panic attack

-In fact, I love whumpees who's trauma response makes them act the opposite to how they normally would, and the confusion of friends/family/team that follows

-Whumpers who become so loving and tender afterwards, cleaning whumpee up and offering soothing words no matter how violent they were moments before. Even kindness can become a trigger

-When whumpee was captured with the team and abused - I'm not a fan of forced to watch in this regard, but I love when they take whumpee to another room but the team just knows. And if Whumpee did it in exchange for necessary supplies - one or more of them are sick or injured, and desperately need water and medicine- well then there's just a whole bunch of trauma and guilt for everyone involved! It will either make them grow closer as they work through it together... or drive them apart because it's all too much.

-I LOVE when whumpee is able to enjoy intimacy again. Whether it's a new relationship after the event, or an old relationship where intimacy had to be put on hold - there's little I love more than a Partner who really doesn't care how long it takes, even if it never happens, just having Whumpee safe is all they want; but it bothers Whumpee. They refuse to let whumper steal this from them, too. The moment they finally do it without crying, without being triggered, without having to stop and apologies - I think it's so sweet and a real marker of whumpees progress.

-I'm not just talking about sex, I mean intimacy in general. I really love Caretaker bathing a whumpee who's too injured or weak to do it themselves, gentle touches, tenderly washing their hair and it's so innocent yet such a private, intimate moment

-But also the lead-up to that moment too. It ends in a success, but there will be failures along the way. When partner is so careful, so perceptive, and when whumpee is triggered they keep crying and apologising and feeling guilty they can't share this with the one they love anymore, but partner keeps assuring them that it's okay, they can take as long as they need, that there's nothing wrong with them for being upset.

-There is also something to be said for a bad partner who does make whumpee feel guilty.

-After the event, Whumpee changed part of themselves that Whumper loved. Whumper loved their long hair? Cut it short. They liked the makeup they wore? Whumpee stopped wearing it altogether. Friends and team knew how much Whumpee loved doing those things, but it's too painful now. It's such a cathartic moment the first time Whumpee wears their hair long again, or comes down with a full face of makeup - and looking genuinely happy about it.

-I don't write it often, but I love when it goes to court, and whumpee is brave enough to look Whumper dead in the eye who tries to avoid their gaze. It's been a long fight, Whumpee often wondered if it was worth it, but when that guilty verdict hits they break down crying in relief. All that pain, reliving their trauma, it was finally all worth it.

Whumpee bound hand and foot on the ground. Making grunts of pain as whumper lands the toe of their boot into their stomach over and over

Whumper unbuckles their belt, and whumpee hears it, looks up over their shoulder with a hoarse groan-- "oh no, no no, fuck"

"fucking--" *kick and yelp of pain* "--stupid--" *again* "--piece--" *again* "--of shit--" *kick and yelp followed by a groan and a cry that sounds like a wordless plea for mercy*

Dropping the royal whumpee after their held-by-the-armpits beating by whumper and they just collapse. As the soldiers spit on whumpee, whumper drives their heel into whumpee's temple, grinding down. "How does it feel to be the one on the floor, huh?"

Living weapon comes back injured and faints from loss of blood when they "should be" standing at attention giving their report. After a failed attempt to obey the order, their handler goes back for the whip. Whumpee is still struggling to get up when the lash lands on their back and drives them back to the ground with a cry of fresh pain.

Stoic whumpee going through the motions and kneeling for whumper. Slapped across the cheek with a rolled-up newspaper because whumper is in a mood, and not getting to punish whumpee is getting boring. Whumpee gasps through their testh, grimacing and lowering their head as they try to figure out what the fuck they did wrong this time.

"I wanted a pet, not a masochist." Whumper glares at defiant whumpee, who is scream-crying against the whipping post. Whumpee, whimpering, "You should've thought about that when you asked for 'one with some fight in them'--ahhh!" Lashes rain down in quick succession to shut them up.

Little Whumpy Details (personal experience edition)

A character who recently had an IV in (or a failed plasma donation attempt lol) will find it difficult to bend that arm for a day after without feeling like they’re getting stabbed.

If a character is suddenly shoved, thrown, launched, or knocked off-balance, they will not remember being in the air; they will only remember being vertical one moment and horizontal the next.

Secondary bruises, scrapes, and cuts that don’t make sense under the circumstances of how a character got the primary injury happen all the time and do not need to be explained, other than, “Huh I don’t know how I could’ve gotten that?”

If a character is hit with sufficient force in the forehead, there will be a painfully uncomfortable pressure behind their nose that almost makes it feel like the nose is “loose” or “soft on the inside.”

Blood pooling in a bruise on the forehead will cause the eyebrows to droop.

A character with a slipping rib will suddenly stand or sit up very straight and use the hand on the injured side to support the rib from going out of place because it feels gross and they don’t want it moving around in there.

Riding a bike excessively can give a character stiff knees from overuse and can make it so painful to squat that they move like a little old lady if they have to sit on the floor.

Whumpee may feel terrible and get progressively worse in the process but at least they get the satisfaction of making the one who accused them of faking/playing up their condition for attention now eat their words and feel guilty about it

stubborn whumpee... refusing to let the pain they're in show, refusing to let anyone close enough to take care of it, or even notice. so deep in the pit of 'no one could ever care about me' that they keep on pushing people away, that they keep on turning away any kind hand, because who could ever care about them?

writing advice for characters with a missing eye: dear God does losing an eyes function fuck up your neck. Ever since mine crapped out I've been slowly and unconsciously shifting towards holding my head at an angle to put the good eye closer to the center. and human necks. are not meant to accommodate that sorta thing.

“What are you gonna do? Oh no, yeah, go ahead. Call the cops. Assuming you could even get the call through before I get that phone away from you, the average police response time here is twenty-two minutes. Do you have any idea what I could do to you in twenty-two minutes?”

Whumper kneeling down next to whumpee who can't get up from where they're laying-- either due to injury or restraint. Whumper getting in close, condescending, smug, and very freely touching whumpee since they know there's nothing whumpee can do to them.

Big fan of whumpers telling whumpee "don't resist, it'll only make things so much harder for you."

Bonus points if whumper's holding whumpee's face, or petting their hair when they say it.
