Fandom is a very wild place because you will see all these posts about queer rep being important because the way we look at queer people on television is connected to the way queer people are treated and viewed in real life and then at the same time pretend that the fact that black characters usually end up hated by fandom (including the totes progressive ones!) is a complete coincidence that just happens to keep popping up.
