“…hah. next time warn me before you say something like that. i wanna get it on camera.” they take a seat next to him, holding the controller and restarting the boss fight back to the beginning. “i’m only going to show you, i’m not beating the boss for you. it only gets harder from here on out.”

she wishes she could say she makes it look effortless, but by the time she’s finished, she only has a sliver of health left. she leans back and sighs. “…jeez. you should spend more points on stamina.”

     HE SNORTS. ❝ NO WAY. THAT was a once in a lifetime confession. ❞ not that he’s ashamed to admit it ; he just doesn’t need to give them more ammo against him than they already have. at least not until there’s another boss he needs them to fight.

     bringing his knees to his chest and his arms folded across them, rindo largely keeps his eyes on the game. occasionally his attention will wander peripherally — taking note of shoka’s furrowed brow and the cute way their mouth purses when they’re focusing — but he’s quick to school it back to the screen with reddened cheeks and an internal reminder not to be a friggin’ weirdo. by the end, he’s pretty sure he caught all the important parts. ❝ i thought an agility build would be smarter, ❞ he explains, tone neutral as he takes back the controller. ❝ health doesn’t matter if you don’t get hit, right ? ❞ an impish smile tugs at his lips then. he can’t help teasing her a bit, poking her side with one of the hand grips. ❝ maybe you should just get better at dodging. ❞

     ❝ WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ? there’s no phase two. ❞ the guide he read just before starting the fight never mentioned one, and there’s no way the internet would ever lie to hi— ❝ wait, what’s that ?! ❞ death, apparently, and a fast one at that. as the screen darkens, marking his character’s untimely demise with big, bold words reading ‘you have died’, rindo simply stares, dumbfounded.

my favorite thing about rindo is that he really is just some kid. he doesn’t have crazy high imagination like neku or anything else that makes him super special. he’s just some guy that only ended up in the situation he was in because joshua was like “yeah sure that one will do.”
