Released on this day (9 March 1983): double-sided single “Physical Attraction” / “Burning Up” by a hungry young up-and-coming pop starlet called Madonna. Of the two songs, I infinitely prefer the urgent, punky siren call of “Burning Up.” Like all her best tunes, the lyrics cast Madonna as the romantic aggressor / pursuer, wailing sentiments like “You're always closing your door / Well, that only makes me want you more” and – even better! - “Unlike the others, I'd do anything / I'm not the same, I have no shame / I'm on fire!” The haunting video directed by Steve Barron – with cat-on-a-hot-tin-roof Madonna writhing, flailing and thrashing around in a sexual frenzy on an abandoned stretch of road – cemented her provocative bad girl persona. (Fun fact: the guy in the video (Ken Compton) was Madonna’s then-boyfriend). Note that there are multiple mixes of “Burning Up” circulating. if you can see it properly, I have a silver 'still emo' necklace on. I feel this current style is nostalgic 2000s emo/punk revival as a form of reclamation after trauma. the comfort in the familiar, especially in this day and age, can be truly healing and calming. I've come a long way from where I was years ago.

I wanted to do some Hobie headcanon even though the fandom is not as active as before 😔

Hobie probably wears platforms on his boots to annoy his friends. Or simply to reach for higher things when he goes to the supermarket or store.

When he walks down the street he helps old women carry their heavy bags or cross the streets, grandmothers give him sweets as thanks.

Hobie wears his mask most of the time in spider society since he is surrounded by white Americans (except Pavitr and Miguel).

He likes to give nicknames with characteristics of a person (for example: Miles as Peter Pan).

When he met Gwen he thought she was a teenager who hates her dad for not fulfilling her whims. He then empathized with her when he told her about her problems and put her up in her apartment.

Hobie has a cat that he found in an alley, when he is not at home the neighbor takes care of him, he comes late at night to pick up her kitten.

Use any pronoun. He won't mind if you only refer to him with male pronouns, Just wait until you don't look at him weird when he says she's the best girl to ever play the guitar.

When he saw Miles for the first time he thought he was cool.

He laughs at how badly Miles flirts, but thinks he's cute.

When he first saw Miles fight a villain a pink text appeared naming his name, clearly amazed by Miles' abilities (He looks at Miles indirectly, He is a teenager in love entranced).

Sometimes he trips over Pavitr's feet to annoy him.
