I don't think that this is so much than a drummer and vocalist that's moved us with his voice and melody. He is allowed his views, but the second that he puts those views into the cyber-ether it becomes the territory of the spectators. Free speech only goes so far as not being jailed for a (non terroristic or hate speech) tantrum. Private companies hosting pages might say shut it down, but that's their right. If a page/blog/etc is being targeted and it's because of a full department shortage, rude behaviour, eyed up on literally everything. It's gonna get you nowhere when a company actually gives a shit about their employees.

I would actually call it underwhelming to be honest. As a procurator of delicious vices, his brothers are outright sober pharmaceutically from what we know and even the most "outlandish" stories wouldn't crack the top ten of my exploits before my eighteenth. I'm not bragging, because I'm fucked up, but their "vices"...? it's not even something that would get you a record in most cases. They have a very first world view on their sneaky quick ones... To be fair, he has gotten sloppy with his look. But he's also been more careful with his voice. Not well enough, gimme a good low growling tone. But he's been trying. And I also understand the need for spreading out lead vocals because they really do all contribute something different, which makes Hanson different. Not that any of that covers their absolute shite songwriting lately, all my own opinion there.

No. I've seen countless machinations of country that don't fit since the era of Shania. As much as I enjoy good country/bluegrass stylings, the definition that country has adopted makes me sick. I enjoy a few collaborations, but not many, and those that I do tend to side towards the twang. I originally liked Hanson because they were out of the norm. Part rock, part folk, with a lot of pop mixed in. If they're gonna go the way of the corporatist, they might as well pay the money for a good mixer/producer like the Jonas Brothers. And I'm not even a JoBros fan but their "Sucker" single is ear candy. They need to be critically challenged. Aside from a few good tracks per album, they've been foundering. They were the ones to first tell me to listen to an entire album and not the singles, and what are they doing now? As much as I have loved everything put out publicly, there hasn't been a cohesive story behind them since Underneath. They need to get their shit together and put in for that extra, outside attention to albums that they've given to EPs.

So I see that you are new to fandom, if not the interwebs entirely. Welcome *hands fruit basket and wine*, but you both need to sit down and really have a look at it from a broader sense. Fandom will always include the taboo. Shatner and Nichelle broke the world with a simple kiss almost half a century ago. There was fanfic then, and likely included a steamy Kirk/Spock category all its own. I've got "Delta of Venus" by Anaïs Nin, with excerpts written as early as the 1920s, and WOW. Fanfic cannot touch that amount of sexual adventurism. But using homoerotic and incest subtext is nowhere near new. This is also why I've strayed from this fandom. Between the political divide I personally face between myself and the band, and the beliefs of its followers, I just cannot anymore. they all write beautiful music when so inspired (generally the best is when they shrug off the expectations of their base, honestly). But I'm not big on stumping for them as I was in my 20s. The root cause is simply the protective bubble they live in, the guys and fans alike. But other fandoms embrace the weird, the cynics, the outsiders. Someone has already mentioned GoT. And while yes, the rise of genealogy has put a damper on it, maintaining bloodlines is still very much a cause in even the modern world (please see literally any monarchy). Selective breeding has roots in everything from medicine to animals to humans and it relies on certain pedigree (inbreeding) to make it happen. Is busy science there. But this doesn't diminish the fact that we were hooked on the complicated systems bringing Jaime and Cersei, as well 90% of the Targaryan lineage together. Dragons required blood from old Valyria. The Lannister twins not only were born from cousins, as was factually accurate about pretty much all of Medieval to Elizabethan history, but they shared an intimate bond from childhood. Same with Dany even though she was ready to wed her brother Viserys before the start of the books/show. I've gotten much more into more accepting fandoms since Hanson started banning certain writers that has been exposed. I miss Kerry and Aura and Dess and Sarah and Leigh and Amy, because they gave no fucks up until the upright regimen infiltrated. There are still twincest shippers that are openly party of the HP fandom. Supernatural has lampshaded the shit out of every pairing imaginable. GoT fandom doesn't blink an eye at Jonsa or Jonrya. My tl;dr is that the taboo will always exist, in malleable form, because it creates a supposedly "easy" dynamic and drama. It's *meant* to provoke response. And it is older than even my great-grandparents (rip), and will continue well into the future, because the taboo has existed for over 2000 years (see: Oedipus and a bunch of the OT). Do just leave us be. We're not humping doorknobs imagining them doing it. We're not holding presentable substitutes hostage. We just write words. And this fandom is not only the most divided on the topic of taboo fiction, but also the most strict. I started out writing about suicide, homoeroticism, slight hints to incest, drug use, abuse, I ran the gamut while hiding behind the names of familiar and real people, including my first real dive into fandom with Hanson and HP. I used their names to create familiarity to the base, and used my own imagination to spread the story out. It worked for a time and I moved on after working my craft on something both easily read (given the fandom and the thirst magnets) and intricate drama (taboo and maneuvering through it). As Dean Winchester so eloquently says: "I want you to put as much sub into that text as you can." The super tl;dr: it makes got interesting storytelling. Get over it because it exists in our oldest texts.

But think of it this way - you're working in food or retail and someone gushes about a drink, a dish, a lotion, perfume, outfit brand. The confession clearly said that Kate was working merch.
