7 Ways to Help Protect Our Rivers at Home

HOW YOU CAN HELP PROTECT RIVERS AT HOME

Always use biodegradable, earth-friendly cleaning products and body products to avoid sending nasty chemicals down the drain and into the rivers. 

Only run your dishwasher and washing machine with full loads to conserve water. 

Take shorter showers. Using 5 gallons per minute, a 10 minute shower uses 50 gallons of water!

Brush your teeth with the water turned off.

Turn electronic devices and lights off and unplug when not in use. The production of energy requires water!

Participate in Meatless Mondays. It takes around 600 gallons of water to make a hamburger patty due to the amount of water used to grow feed crops and water cattle.

Pick up trash and litter when you see it.
