Final Update (The biggest of them all)

Final Time Log Hours: 36 TOTAL HOURS!

This was such a hectic week and I've spent more time on this project in such a short amount of time than I think I have for a lot of my other projects. in the past. At one point I had a file corrupt and I had to restart that part of the project, but I managed to complete it and make it look as close as I could to the original while still adding color! I have one gif here where the images are in color (basic color) as well as one that is made of tradition drawings that I have darkened to improve the visibility of the line work. This set back was what took up the majority of my time, and once I was able to fix it I was back on track working on this project. Below are the two newest gifs. I'm honestly impressed that I made it to the time requirement for this project and even though it's been very difficult along the way, I am very proud of myself for getting this far.

Time Log 9&10 (BIG one!)

Total Time Spent (Both Weeks): 18.5 Hours

These past two weeks I have been revising my physical drawings and improving on them with the help of a lightbox which has helped me with my consistency in my drawings. Previously the drawings all looks different, and now they are much more consistent. I decided to take my project in a digital direction since I am coming up on the end, and because I am using Photoshop to create the gifs that my project uses. I think that using digital drawing helps me more to be consistent as well with the appearance of my drawings. Much of m time was spent revising my drawings as well as swapping over to Photoshop to continue my progress. There was a lot of trial and error which accounts for most of my time here! I am mostly happy with the results so far however, below is a gif of what I have so far. I still need to add shading and a few more details, which I will be doing in the upcoming week.

Time Log #8

Total hours spent: 9.5

This week I spent my time drawing and putting together my images for my gif. I unfortunately have a lot to work on with consistency in my drawings! It didn’t look as good as I had hoped but I plan to fix these drawings to where they look more cohesive. I have attached two gifs of the drawings, one faster and one slower so it is easier to see each individual drawing.

Time Log #7

Total Hours Spent: (so far) 6

This week I have been taking photos and working on preliminary sketches for my project. Since I’ve gotten my reference images for the gif I am creating, my next step is to continue working on each frame of the gif. I’ve included 10 of the 12 reference images (picture limit on post) on this post and in my next post I’ll share the drawings! My sketches took up the majority of my time this week so far.

Time Log 5 & 6

Total Hours Worked (Time Log 5): 6 Hours

I worked this week on making small gifs for my project. I used the small drawings I had done previously to create the gifs, and I have started to work on more dynamic things for my drawings (people, more interesting objects). 

Total Hours Worked (Time Log 6): 8 Hours

This week I have begun working on drawing people instead of smaller objects for my project. I have begun sketches of people in different poses that can be strung together in an animation. My next goal is to upload a collection of the reference images for my human animation as well as a sketch of these references.

Time Log 4

Total Hours Worked: 7

For this time log, I worked on drawing small things from life in different perspectives. I used a mug for my main focus and I drew multiple versions of it. I drew multiple other objects from life, but this was the best outcome of my practicing.

Time Log 2&3

Time Log 2:

Total hours worked: 6

This week was spent working on value range exercises, collecting interesting reference photos, and getting new materials to help me work on my drawings. This week was a slow week with a lot of outside distractions.

Time Log 3:

Total hours worked: 8

This week was spent working on sketches and coming up with ideas for a comprehensive project. One of my ideas for my project is a series of drawings from different perspectives, starting from the ground up (first drawing starts at a perspective from the ground, last one would end with a perspective above the head). The subjects would either be one person, or multiple people together. This idea could be combined at the end of the process to almost create an animation effect and I think that would be a very interesting idea to follow. I’ll be continuing to find and take more reference images for this project to further my progress.

Time Log/Contract Entry #1

This is my first time log for this class! I’m very excited to get this blog started and to be able to share my process of growth during this semester in Advanced Drawing. 

So far, I have spent several hours over the weekend and the past week deciding what I want to focus on and improve on in this semester, and my main goals for this class include:

Improving my range of value (I tend to use very light values throughout most of my work).

Improving my human anatomy as well as how dynamic my poses are (I have a hard time not making my humans look a bit stiff and awkward sometimes).

Working more on my perspective and improving that as well (this is the hardest thing for me to do, so I am excited to work on it more!). 

Of course I do have other, smaller goals for this class, but these are the main goals I have set for myself. I have ideas for my work, I would like to create a series of people in very dynamic, animated poses from interesting perspectives. I think these types of projects would be the most beneficial for me and the goals I have for this semester and my next step is to bring these ideas into the light further to expand on them.
