Lakeside Cabin Wedding in Kananaskis Alberta

Lakeside Cabin Wedding in Kananaskis Alberta
This lakeside cabin wedding in Kananaskis Alberta can only be described as a dream. Anything I can write in a few short paragraphs could never do this much beauty justice. Every inch of this day was styled to perfection and every human present was the sweetest of souls.
Details of Getting Ready Moments
We started the day at the Pomeroy Mountain Lodge in the heart of the Kananaskis Valley. As I entered one room, Jules was just getting her dress on and as Andrew entered the other, Rory and the boys were blissfully unaware of the time. How all mornings should be on your wedding day! I really do love these morning moments when everything seems to come together in a matter of minutes.
As Jules came out of her room dressed flawlessly in a Liz Martinez gown she looked as if she belonged on a runway, but the mountains were her backdrop today. Fall for Florals designed the most incredible floral bouquet which was the perfect mix of dried and textured.
An Intimate First Look Surrounded by Mountain Peaks
Just a few doors down Rory was looking dapper as he made his way out to one of the spectacular viewpoints on the property. Standing amongst the summer wildflowers with the mountains towering above him he waited for his bride to be. It was something out of a fairytale with butterflies flying around them. One of those perfect moments that we won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
Reuniting with Family and Friends in a Special Place
Julia and Rory both call Calgary home. Julia’s grandparents purchased a small lakeside cabin in Kananaskis Country when she was a little girl and when it came time to start planning their wedding, they knew that this would be the perfect place to celebrate in an intimate way.
A few years ago Rory and Julia moved to London, England for career opportunities. They have been living there for the past two years and haven’t been able to get back and visit their family until this trip for their wedding. Not only was it a special day to celebrate their wedding, but a day to reconnect with all their loved ones and the who they have been away from for so long. And there was no better place to do so than at their beloved grandparent’s cabin tucked in the trees.
The Most Beautifully Styled Intimate Wedding We Have Ever Seen
As you can imagine, planning a wedding in another country isn’t an easy task. This is where Julianne Young and her amazing team come into the story. Julianne took Julia and Rory’s vision for their day and transformed the cabin into a dream venue. We all couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw the space for the first time.
One long table decorated with candles, flowers, linen and terracotta was nestled perfectly in the trees out the front of the cabin. Overhead greenery framed the space and it was so beautifully lit with string lights and wicker lanterns. To the right, a cosy chill-out space with couches and blankets and to the left stood the bar space with a vintage rug mosaic as their dance floor.
A Gorgeous Lakeside Ceremony and Incredible Dining Experience
As Jules walked down the garden path to the lake, the views opened up and revealed the ceremony space. She met Rory on a wooden platform adorned with flowers and in that space they shared their vows, rings and sealed it all with a kiss. After everything was made official we all made our way back up to the cabin for the most beautiful cocktails you have ever seen.
Slowly everyone made their way to their seats and the evening carried on with the most incredible courses and wine pairings by the talented Garrett Martin of The Major Tom Bar. In between courses, sweet and cheeky words were shared by friends and family. It was one of those nights that you wish could go on forever.
The dance floor kicked off with a first dance surrounded by sparklers. These two sure know how to have fun as they cut a rug on the rugs. Hope you have fun looking through these photos of one of the most incredible days we have ever had the pleasure of photographing. I hope these images do more justice than these words ever could.

Elegant Wedding at the Fairmont Banff Springs
Banff Wedding Photographers
Mariana & Craig
Elegant Wedding at the Fairmont Banff Springs
This elegant wedding at the Fairmont Banff Springs was such an incredible day. The Banff Springs has a rich history in this pretty mountain town and is affectionately known as the Castle in the Rockies. Originally built in 1888 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, this interesting building is one of Canada’s last standing Railway hotels. Walking through the grand hallways you are presented with picturesque mountain views through every ornate window. These are only a few of the reasons why it is truly is a magical place to get married.
Changing Plans and an Unpredictable Year
This couple are two of the most thoughtful and kind humans we have had the pleasure to meet. Their deep connection and care for each other was such an honour to witness and we both feel so lucky that they chose us to be the photographers to create all of these memories of their day in the mountains. We first met these two for their sunrise hiking engagement session earlier in the summer. They both met working at the same company and connected quickly through their shared love of travel and good food. It was incredibly important for them to have their family with them on their wedding day and Covid presented a few challenges throughout the planning process. As their dates, guest lists and plans changed multiple times, they persevered and ended up having a perfect day!
A Romantic Ceremony in Mount Stephen Hall
Mariana and Craig had a vision for their day and it was so stunning! An elegant and classic theme was considered through every last detail. Pops of blue styled into the decor were carried through so beautifully in the mountain landscapes surrounding them. Including the icy blue of the glacier-fed rivers and lakes in Banff National Park.
The day began in the Strathcona Room where the girls were getting ready. A balcony overlooked Mount Stephen Hall where the ceremony space was being decorated in pillars of flowers. Alegro YYC was setting up and rehearsing their songs, echoing throughout the hundred-year-old walls. It set the romantic mood for the day to come.
Letters were shared to one another in the morning. Words expressing how excited they were for this day to finally be here. This day, made even more special by the difficult year they both had. We think it’s fair to say this wedding was worth postponing 3 times to get to this incredible day! The emotion in the room and love for these two was so beautiful to witness and capture through these images.
Craig walked down the aisle with their excited pup Peanut while Mariana held her father’s arm down the grand spiral staircase. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room when Mariana entered the room. She was absolutely stunning! We all watched as these two sweet souls shared words, exchanged rings and signed the documents necessary to be legally wed. After their ceremony, Mariana and Craig decided to share their first dance in the open ballroom. Serenaded by the musical duo playing their song. It was magic.
The Most Beautiful Summer Portraits Exploring Banff National Park
After the ceremony, we made our way outside to explore Banff National Park for their portraits. A beautiful blue classic car pulled up to the doors on the Fairmont. Mariana’s parents had surprised them with a stylish ride for the afternoon! We cruised along the mountain roads and found some incredible locations for their portraits together. By the shores of the Bow River and through to Lake Minnewanka where the mountains tower over the lakeside views. Banff was really showing off that day!
An Elegant Candlelit Reception
When we re-entered Mt Steven hall it was completely transformed to reveal their reception space. Two long tables were adorned with greenery and candles with the bride and grooms sweetheart table centred between the two. Rose petals marked out a giant M symbolizing their new joined name at the other side of the room. Everyone cheered as the newlyweds entered the room. Following their grand entrance, the evening flowed perfectly between delicious courses and heartfelt speeches. Desert was a platter of Brazilian deserts paying tribute to Mariana’s family heritage. The night closed with dancing and a sparkler send-off. Every moment and every detail was such a joy to photograph and we hope you enjoy looking through their story.

Kananaskis Wedding at the Pomeroy Mountain Lodge
Canmore Wedding Photographers
Allison & Steve
Kananaskis Wedding at the Pomeroy Mountain Lodge.
This Kananaskis wedding at the Pomeroy Mountain Lodge was such a special two-day wedding in the mountains! Allison and Steve had two main requirements for their wedding day. 1. Get married outside, somewhere accessible in the mountains so that they could share the day with their family. 2. Go exploring for their portraits somewhere more remote to capture their love of adventure.
While planning out their day they found the perfect venue at the Kananaskis Pomeroy Mountain Lodge where they were able to have the most beautiful outdoor ceremony and intimate dinner, then rest up for their sunrise adventure.
A Beautiful Summer Ceremony in the Mountains.
If you are searching for a commissioner to tell your story beautifully then look no further than Barbara from Threshold Ceremonies. Barbara takes so much time to get to know each couple and weaves in so many special elements into each ceremony that she creates. These two have such a special story and their ceremony reflected how they have come to share such a special bond.
Steve and Allison met on a climbing trip organised by Steve’s brother. They kept a piece of the climbing rope from that trip and incorporated it into their day. First, through a leash for their pup Luna and then further through their ceremony with a symbolic knot tying ceremony. The trust and support that is so crucial in a climbing partner is mirrored in the relationship that they have built together.
I also can’t talk about their ceremony without mentioning their beautiful vows. Steve is a writer and Allison a teacher and they share a passion for literature. Their words to one another were some of the most thoughtful and inspiring we have ever heard and it was so special for them to be witnessed by all of their family and friends on the day.
Making Sentimental and Sustainable choices for your Wedding Day.
Allison and Steve are both incredibly kind and thoughtful humans. They planned the details of their day with so much care and sentiment. Researching vendors that truly spoke to them and choosing sustainable options where they could. Allison’s dress was purchased from a consignment store in Calgary and her flowers were all locally grown and sourced by Prairie Girl Flowers who shares the same passion for sustainability. The wildflowers in her bouquet and crown were so stunning and she even made a second bouquet with heartier flowers our morning hike!
An Incredible Sunrise Hike for some Epic Portraits.
Their second requirement for the day was to celebrate in the mountains hiking. Sunrise is our favourite time in the mountains as we love how peaceful it is hiking up in the dark and then experiencing a first light high in the alpine. The morning we got for this portrait session was incredible. There was a little bit of smoke lingering in the air that intensified the colours through the sky.
We spent the morning exploring across the vast landscapes, soaking in the sunlight and enjoying each others company. It was truly a pleasure to spend time with this amazing couple and we feel so lucky to have shared these memories with them and created some moments that they can look back on for the rest of their lives.

Sunrise Hiking Wedding near Canmore Alberta

Ley & Cory
Sunrise Hiking Wedding near Canmore Alberta
This sunrise hiking wedding near Canmore, Alberta, was such a perfect intimate day in the mountains. These two lead a life of adventure. Spending most of their free time trail running, they feel most at home in the mountains. Because of this, they knew that this was the perfect way to celebrate their love and start this next chapter of their lives. Ley said it was hard to pick a shorter hike as most of their trail running adventures lead them on long missions through the alpine. But tucked in the foothills between Calgary and Canmore they found the perfect location. A 2km hike up revealed the most incredible views. It was the perfect spot for their sunrise intimate wedding.
Planning an Intimate Mountain Top Wedding
It was a warm and still morning in the mountains. The new sliver of moon was glowing as we made our way up above the trees. Being one of the first ranges west of Calgary this meant that we had unobstructed views of the sun coming up to the east. A clear sky to the wast meant that the clouds lit up all around us as dawn approached.
Ley and Cory invited a few of their closest friends to share the day with them as well as their two dogs Freddie and Archer. One to legally marry them and two as their witnesses. Their good friend Nathan also came along and captured some wild drone footage of the morning which you can check out on Youtube here.
Portraits with Puppy’s and a Ceremony in the Sunshine
As the scenery began to light up around us Ley and Cory began to get ready for their first look. We found the perfect lookout where Ley walked up to Cory, her dress trailing behind her. It was a picture-perfect scene with Archer walking alongside Ley matching her white dress and Freddie waiting by Cory’s side for them both. These things you just can’t plan. We spent the next little while roaming around the mountain top fields, with the pups following along freely around us. It was such a lovely way to create some beautiful portraits of this sweet little family.
After exploring the area we found a beautiful little spot for their ceremony in the sunshine. Sharing words and exchanging rings to symbolise their bond. It was so beautiful to witness. We ended the morning with a celebratory toast to the married couple in awe of the scenery around us.

Mountain Elopement in Banff Alberta

Jackie & Erinn
Mountain Elopement in Banff Alberta
This mountain elopement in Banff, Alberta was such a breathtaking adventure in the Canadian Rocky Mountains! I like to think that things all happen for a reason and this morning was no exception. Jackie and Erinn had quite a few iterations of their wedding day. Each version adapting to the ever-changing restrictions in Alberta and BC.
Staying Flexible when Planning an Elopement in the Mountains
They initially were going to elope in the mountains but when gatherings were increased they decided to celebrate with a small group of their family and friends for their ceremony, then travel out to the mountains for a sunrise hiking adventure for their portraits. This meant that they could have two celebrations and not sacrifice any aspect of their day. But of course, this wasn’t the only change. As the wedding date drew nearer, BC issued regional restrictions preventing J and E from leaving their home area. They decided to postpone until later that summer and luckily we found a date in our schedule where we could make it happen!
Elopement Photos High Above The Clouds at Sunrise
All of these changes then lead them to this magical day. Where every second felt like we were dreaming. When you head out in the darkness of the early morning all you can see is the path in front of you lit up by your headlamp. You have no idea what views await you until the sun starts to rise. It is such a special experience and this is why we love sunrise sessions so much. There is always that element of surprise. This particular morning we were blown away!
It takes rare conditions to produce mornings temperature inversions like this in the mountains. With low clouds hanging in the valley, when you hike up above them, it feels like you are flying. The peaks of the mountains jutting out like islands out at sea. We had so much fun exploring this landscape with these two. Finding all the ridges and rocky points to explore.
Capturing the Essence of Each Couples Unique Love
Just like this day, timing was everything in their relationship. J and E new each other growing up and had kept making plans to catch up. The day they finally made it happen was almost serendipitous. They had both just got out of long term relationships and Erinn told us he just couldn’t stop thinking about Jackie. One thing, she was on a plane shortly after to teach English in Taiwan. So naturally Erinn took leave from his new job to go and find her and bring her back and the rest is history!
Jackie and Erinn were such great company and these photos really show their sense of adventure and love for one another. Hiking also gives us time to really get to know our couples and we really connected with their story. Their support for each other’s passions and their commitment to leading a creative and meaningful life. Erinn’s love for coffee and Jackie’s talent as a florist both lead them to steer away from the corporate world and pursue things that they love in life. Having someone special by your side supporting you really makes you feel like you can achieve anything.
We hope you enjoy this adventure high above the clouds! It was truly a morning to remember!

Moody Wedding Photos in Banff National Park
These moody wedding photos in Banff National Park were so much fun to photograph! We planned a sunrise session with Mo and Enayat and we were surprised with a low fog hanging in the valley. This creates the most beautiful mist through the trees and the light was so soft and beautiful all morning.
Planning an Adventure Session for your Wedding Photos
These two got married in Canmore the day before this session. It was a beautiful day with their family in the mountains. They knew they also wanted to do something special for their wedding portraits when they came across our work. Together we decided on a sunrise session at Moraine Lake the following morning after their wedding. One of our favourite drive-up locations in Banff National Park.
Preparing for an Adventure Session at Moraine Lake in Banff National Park
Moraine Lake is a very popular location just outside of Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada. It is known for its turquoise waters and incredible scenery but access is very limited due to its small parking lot. For this reason, the only way to secure access is by getting up super early! Mo and Enayat didn’t sleep at all after their reception before having to drive out for their session. They wanted to squeeze in as much as possible in their trip from Toronto.
Mo wore the most incredible green dress that she has planned to go with the landscape. She absolutely nailed it! Her dress was one of the most beautiful outfits I had ever seen and complimented the green and blue shades of the forest and lake so perfectly. Enayat, you looked pretty sharp too! Not only were these two a pleasure to photograph but they were two of the kindest humans we have ever met. We feel so lucky to have shared this time together.
We hope you love looking through these photos as much as we enjoyed capturing them!

Summer Wedding at Stewart Creek
This summer wedding at Stewart Creek in Canmore, Alberta was such a beautiful day! What a day to mark our first wedding back after the covid restrictions had eased. It was so wonderful to be surrounded by smiling faces again. Lisa and Mike had postponed their wedding from last summer and it was definitely worth the wait! This day was filled with so much love in the most incredible setting.
We first met these two for coffee in a Starbucks. They brought their sweet pup Milo who was only a few months old at the time. Not long after, we were hiking up above Moraine Lake at sunset for their epic fall engagement photos. You can see all of these images here!
It was so lovely to finally get to catch up again on their wedding day! The restrictions lifted the day before their wedding which was such amazing timing for these two. It felt so wonderful to finally celebrate, eat, dance and feel so much love in one room again. These two are such a sweet couple and we had such a great day with their family and friends in the mountains. We hope you enjoy looking through some of the memories they made.

Camping Elopement in Alberta, Canada

Emily & Darin
Camping Elopement in Alberta, Canada
This Camping Elopement in Alberta, Canada was such a wild adventure! Camping trips in the backcountry are our favourite way to experience these remote mountain landscapes. You can settle into a location and really experience something unique. It’s such a beautiful way to celebrate an elopement. Hiking in with a backpack and all of your wedding gear and setting up your tent under the stars. There is nothing more beautiful and romantic than that!
Planning an Adventure Elopement in the Mountains
Emily and Darin are based out east in Ontario and wanted to celebrate with their family and friends but also experience something special, just for them. While planning they landed on the perfect solution. They would get married at home surrounded by their loved ones and then go on a fun adventure just the two on their honeymoon to Alberta. This is where we came in. Emly and Darin pitched this idea to us and we couldn’t wait to be a part of it all. We suggested all of our favourite backcountry camping sites in the area and this special spot stood out to them.
Celebrating by Creating Memories that are Meaningful
Camping in the backcountry seemed like a perfect way to celebrate for Emily and Darin. These two adventurous souls have built a beautiful relationship on their shared love of travel and exploring new places. To add another adventure to their list, in their wedding clothes just made sense! So after their intimate wedding at home, they packed up their bags and hopped on a plane to the Rocky Mountains.
Our favourite part about documenting adventures like this is the experience. The most beautiful moments and memories come from setting up camp, exploring around the area, searching for beautiful views, building a campfire and sharing stories long into the night. Anyone who has camped in the mountains knows what I mean. You are removed from distractions and fully immersed in the moment.
Moody Weather and a Stunning Sunrise over our Campsite
We set off on the trail in the early afternoon so we had enough time to set up camp and go on a little adventure for sunset. It was a moody afternoon in the mountains with low clouds swirling around above us. We love this kind of weather in the mountains. It’s so special. As the sun began to set it created the most beautiful golden light through these clouds. It was one of the prettiest evenings we have yet to see in the mountains.
After our little evening adventure, we made our way back to camp and built a fire. We shared a drink or two and decided to get a few hours sleep in before our sunrise hike. Our alarms went off at 3 am and we made our way up to a little viewpoint that looks over the lake. Emily and Darin recited some beautiful private vows to each other as the sun crept over the mountains. The light was so beautiful and we made the most of the beautiful backdrops surrounding us as the rocky textures began to light up.
It’s always bittersweet packing up camp after an amazing adventure like this, but the memories live on in these photos. We hope you enjoy looking through these moments from this fun backcountry adventure.

Hiking Engagement in Kananaskis Alberta

Lyndsay & Ryan
Hiking Engagement in Kananaskis Alberta
This hiking engagement in Kananaskis, Alberta, is the kind of adventure we live for. We had heard a lot of good things about this particular hike but have never had the time during our busy summers to explore this trail. When Lyndsay and Ryan suggested it for their hiking engagement session we were stoked!
Sunrise Adventures in the Rocky Mountains
There is nothing quite like rolling up to a trailhead in the early hours of the morning. It’s exciting and a little crazy but that’s why we love it. Hiking up in the dark by headlamp means you don’t have much of an idea where your destination is. It’s not until the sun begins to rise that you start to see the amazing views around you.
It wasn’t until we got onto the ridge that we could see the incredible views of the lake and towering mountains surrounding us. These views that are so unique to Kananaskis Country in Alberta. That was only the beginning of the show. As the sun crept higher in the sky, the mountains began to glow the most vivid colours and continued to change throughout the morning. You’ll just have to keep scrolling to see what I mean.
Planning an Engagement Shoot to Celebrate Your Relationship
But enough about the view. These two were so much fun to photograph and / hang out with. Lyndsay and Ryan were made for each other. Ryan told us stories of his caving adventures while Lyndsay love for travelling brought her to so many interesting places around the world. After spending some time with them it was easy to see why they wanted to go on an adventure like this for their engagement photos. We had so much fun with these two humans and hope you enjoy looking through their photos from this colourful morning in the mountains.

Rachel and Brendon
Camping Elopement in the Rocky Mountains
This camping elopement in the Rocky Mountains was one adventure we will never forget! Rachel and Brendon wanted to do something intimate and unique for their wedding day. When they told us they were interested in backcountry camping, we couldn’t wait to help them find the perfect spot for them to tie the knot.
These two adventurous humans met while travelling through Europe and had a special bond. With Rachel being from Canada, and Brendon from New Zealand, these two have overcome the seas to be together. Something we know all too well. Their love for each other was so special to witness.
Staying Flexible When Planning an Adventure in the Mountains
After brainstorming some location ideas, we settled on an amazing area in BC by some alpine lakes. As their date drew nearer, the snowpack in this area was still high. Meaning we would be hiking and camping in a few feet of snow. We decided to go back to the drawing board and that is when we remembered this special spot, perched high above a lake in Alberta. We have been hiking around this area a lot and had always wanted to camp on this ridgeline. We knew it was free of snow and if you’re after a backcountry campsite with amazing views, it doesn’t get much better than this!
Planning a Mountain Top Wedding with your Friends
Rachel and Brandon invited a few close friends to share the day with them. We all met up at the trailhead and packed up our things. With their suits and dresses hanging from their bags, we made our way up the very steep trail to our campsite high on the ridge. Once we got to our destination, we gladly took off our bags and revelled in the views. After a steep hike like that, there is no better reward than 360-degree views of the mountains.
A Sunset Ceremony Followed by a Wedding Feast of Hot Dogs and Smores
We then set off up the ridge to find a clearing for their ceremony and within a few minutes, we found the perfect place. We decided to set up our tents first so we could enjoy their ceremony at golden hour. One of their lovely friends applied to be their officiant for the day making their ceremony at sunset even more special. With their best friends by their sides, Rachel and Brendon said the most beautiful words to each other.
After they said their ‘I do’s’ we made our way back down to camp where we made a fire and roasted up some hot dogs and smores. The perfect camping elopement dinner!
An Epic Sunrise to Top it All Off
Our alarms went off after a few hours of sleep and we headed off on our final journey. This time further up the ridge for sunrise! We knew it was going to be a beautiful morning as there was no clouds on the horizon and the air was still. We found the perfect little spot to explore as the sun peaked over the mountains. Rachel’s dress flowed so amazingly in the wind and the golden light lit them up as they explored around the cliffs.
Putting this gallery together we are reminded why camping elopements are our favourite way to celebrate. You get to enjoy each others company without any distractions and find a special place to soak it all in. We feel so grateful that these two invited us along to share these memories with them and we hope you enjoy their story.

Adventure Elopement in Kananaskis Alberta

Ashley & David
Adventure Elopement in Kananaskis Alberta
This adventure elopement in Kananaskis, Alberta, started like all our favourite wedding days. In the heart of the mountains, in the middle of the night, surrounded by millions of stars. We met Ashley and David with their bags packed full of their wedding clothes and hiked up to this amazing viewpoint in Kananaskis Country just outside of Canmore, Alberta.
Ashley and David decided to plan an intimate elopement day in the mountains to celebrate their love. Their mutual connection for travel and the outdoors inspired them to elope in a way meaningful to them both. They came across our work while wedding planning and we were so thrilled to help them plan a unique day inspired by their relationship.
Spring Weather in the Canadian Rockies
Leading up to the day there were thunderstorm warnings all week long. This is common in the Spring months as the snowmelt produces moisture and heat which is the perfect recipe for these systems. We kept a close eye on the weather radars and could see that there was a perfect break overnight. Just what we were all hoping for their sunrise hiking adventure!
The warm temperatures made for a lovely hike up to our destination. Once we got up above the trees, Ashley and David each found separate places to get ready in their wedding gear. Ashley zipped up her beautiful dress complemented with a bouquet of dried flowers, while David finished off his suit by tying his tye tight in the morning breeze. With David waiting out on the cliff with the dawn light revealing the view around us, Ashley walked out to him for their first look. It was perfect.
Mountain Top Photos and Letters from Loved Ones
We spent the morning wandering around the cliffs and viewpoints of this amazing location as the sun peaked over the prairies. Ashley and David had brought along letters their family had wrote to them for this day so they sat together and read these to one another. This was such a sweet idea to include family on an elopement day.
A Stormy Ceremony to End the Morning Adventure
As we made our way back down to the lakeshore, we watched clouds form to the south. The sky began to get dark as we could hear rumbles of thunder getting closer. Just as we got back to our cars we could see the rain coming in so we all jumped in our cars and pulled them up to face the lake. Klaus, their officiant pulled up next to us and we all watched the storm roll past. There was so much energy and we decided to wait it out before heading out onto the lake for their ceremony.
As the rain eased, we all ran out onto the shore but it was clear that more rain was coming! As they said their vows, another wall of rain came over us. Huddled under umbrellas, they exchanged their rings and shared their first kiss amongst the rain. Just as Klaus pronounced them husband and wife, a large crack of lightning shot through the sky. The thunder that quickly followed was like mother nature giving them a round of applause. It was incredible! We love when our couples embrace the elements and Ashley and David sure did on this day.
This was one day to remember and we hope you enjoy looking through all the beautiful memories from their adventure in the mountains.

Emerald Lake Elopement
Looking through the images of this Emerald Lake elopement, I’m sure you can see why this stunning place is named the way it is. When Larissa and Tyler were searching for that special spot to elope they knew they had found the perfect place after walking through Emerald Lake Lodge.
Eloping at Emerald Lake Lodge
Emerald Lake Lodge is located in Yoho National Park, BC, just outside of Banff, Alberta. Famous for its secluded shores and vivid water, it’s definitely on the list of somewhere you have to visit when road-tripping through the spectacular Canadian Rocky Mountains.
Not only does Emerald Lake offer incredible scenery, but it also offers unique cabins to stay in and a beautiful restaurant right on the lake. This year they have begun offering all-inclusive elopement packages, making the planning process so simple for couples interested in a small, intimate day.
Sun Showers and Misty Mountains
When the weather forecast calls for sun, cloud and rain, you know that you’re in for something special. These days in the mountains are so beautiful to photograph with low clouds drifting through the mountains and ever-changing light.
Larissa and Tyler got ready in a cabin on the point which has a large balcony that wraps around the shores of the lake. It’s the perfect place to watch the clouds drifting through the mountains and people canoeing on the lake. They invited a few of their close friends and family to share their day with them and when it was time, we all made our way out to their ceremony location.
An Intimate Ceremony Followed by Adventure
Tyler’s brother led them through their intimate ceremony and we all celebrated the newlyweds in front of the perfect backdrop! Afterwards, we went exploring around the lodge for their portraits. We took some time to hike around the lake before heading to a secluded area by the river. Meandering through the forests and along the rocks while taking in all that this beautiful area has to offer.
We hope you enjoy looking through this amazing elopement day in the mountains and we loved every moment of documenting this special day.

Hiking Elopement in Alberta
Canmore Elopement Photographers
Kendra & Chris
Hiking Elopement in Alberta
This hiking elopement in Alberta was such an incredible morning high above the little mountain town of Canmore. Kendra and Chris had originally planned to have a larger wedding, but with family across Canada and the US, they were forced to rethink their plans. With no signs of the border opening due to Covid restrictions, they decided to elope! What better way to do so than at the top of a mountain at sunrise!
A Hiking Adventure by Headlamp and Sunrise Ceremony
One of our favourite parts of sunrise elopement adventures is hiking up in the dark by headlamp. It’s such a unique experience watching the stars overhead as you climb up to higher elevations. Kendra and Chris only recently moved to Alberta from BC so this was their first spring enjoying the trails in the area. This particular hike is one of our favourites for early season views. The winter snow lingers on a lot of the mountain trails in the Spring, but the sun-exposed ridges on this mountain melt early.
Their commissioner, Cole Hofstra, joined us for their mountain top ceremony. Cole one of the only officiants around that you can find to hike up a mountain with you. Not only that but he crafts the most beautiful ceremonies that celebrate the uniqueness of each couple’s story. This ceremony was no exception and we felt so lucky to document these two sharing such a special moment with each other in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Morning Moments on Mountain Tops
We were so lucky to experience such a beautiful morning with these two adventurous humans. Intense colours made ribbons through the sky at first light. As the sun rose higher, the light softened due to clouds hovering just above the horizon. Low fog drifted through the valley floor as the sun came out again to create the most ethereal scenes through the trees below us. These are just some of the reasons why sunrise is our favourite time of day in the alpine. The mornings are always full of these little surprise moments.
We feel so lucky to have photographed this amazing morning in the mountains and we can’t thank Kendra and Chris enough for inviting us along to tell their story.

Revelstoke Waterfall Elopement
Karmen & Kory
BC Elopement Photographers
As BC Elopement Photographers, we love exploring wild views like this epic waterfall location. There are so many incredible places to choose from for an elopement day in the mountains, making it challenging to pick just one! Karmen and Kory knew they wanted to get married by a waterfall in the forest close to Revelstoke, BC. There are a few quiet options outside of town, making it the perfect destination for a waterfall elopement.
Road Tripping to Find the Perfect Elopement Destination
Once they had decided on Revelstoke as their elopement destination, we sent over a list of our favourite locations in the area. They took a week off for their wedding and planned a road trip out to BC. Driving out from their home town in Saskatchewan, they spent the day before the wedding visiting all the different waterfalls and together. Tucked in the forest with the sound of the waterfall rushing beside them, they decided on the perfect place to get married.
Spring Melt and Private Vows
Karmen and Kory chose a beautiful spring day to make their promises to each other. Spring in BC is such a fleeting time filled with energy and breathtaking scenery. As the snow melts rapidly from a long winter, the rivers flow with so much water! They said their vows to each other in an intimate setting with the sounds of the forest and the water surrounding them. All of their details of dried wildflowers, delicate lace and bare feet complemented the setting perfectly.
We hope you enjoy looking through this amazing day!

Intimate Wedding in Kananaskis Alberta

Intimate Wedding in Kananaskis Alberta
This intimate wedding in Kananaskis, Alberta was such a beautiful Spring day in the Canadian Rocky Mountains! We met Mallory and Martin in the mountains on one of the first warm days of the year. The sun was shining and it was a perfect day for a wedding! With Covid restrictions still in place, these two planned a beautiful small ceremony in a secluded field surrounded by mountains. After they shared their vows and exchanged rings we all set off to a beautiful picnic area to celebrate!
Spring Weather and a Picnic Reception
It was the perfect weather for picnicking by a lake and Mallory’s family organised charcuterie boxes and cold drinks for everyone to enjoy. This is our favourite way to celebrate in an intimate way in Kananaskis Country. After a fun little hangout, we said goodbye to their guests and explored the area for their portraits. Taking advantage of the beautiful forest, lakeside and mountain views that this area has to offer. While most people immediately think of Banff National Park when they think of the Canadian Rockies, there are so many other unique areas to explore. We spend so much of our time scouting out quiet and different locations for our couples for their elopement or intimate wedding day.
We had so much fun with these two and it was a fun adventurous way to celebrate spending the rest of their lives together. Cheers to this beautiful couple!

Canmore Sunrise Hiking Elopement
Canmore Elopement Photographers
Cynthia & Richard
Canmore Sunrise Hiking Elopement
This Canmore sunrise hiking elopement was one of those mornings in the Canadian Rocky Mountains we will never forget! Sometimes you look through your lens, at the moments unfolding in front of you and you feel so lucky that you are the one right there at that moment capturing it all. This is how we felt every second that passed on Cynthia and Richard’s sunrise elopement day.
While it’s easy to look through these photos and think how lucky we were to get such a beautiful morning in the mountains, that isn’t the full story. Cynthia and Richard had a long journey to get to this point on their elopement day with many unknowns and last-minute changes. This morning came together through their unwavering love for one another and their flexibility and easy-going, fun attitudes.
A Global Pandemic and a Snow Storm Couldn’t Stop These Two from Having an Epic Sunrise Elopement
These two were originally planning to have their wedding in Hawaii. With family in Canada and Indonesia, they chose a destination halfway to celebrate intimately with their family and friends. Due to the global pandemic, they were forced to postpone and re-think their plans. 2020 passed by and was a hard year for these two. They both experienced loss, in what was already a challenging year. Having seen the love and respect that they hold for each other, we can see how they got through it all side by side.
This is where we came in. C and R reached out to us one evening with the idea to escape the chaos and elope. They resonated with the stories on our blog and wanted to create a special moment for themselves to say their vows and get married. They both enjoy hiking and going on backcountry camping adventures so a hiking elopement only seemed fitting. We had planned a different hike on a different day. Due to weather and snow, the day before we were all meant to meet we decided to switch up the plans. There was a snowfall warning moving through the mountains which lasted all week but we could see one clear morning in the forecast. So they changed up their plans for one last time and that was their new date!
A Perfect Snow Covered Sunrise Over Canmore in the Heart of the Canadian Rockies
Because of all the fresh snow, the alpine scenery was incredible. Fresh snow blanketed the trees and cliffs as we made our way up to their ceremony site. Guided by headlamps, we pushed on as the mountains slowly revealed themselves in the dawn light. There wasn’t a breath of wind as we approached our destination. As the sun peaked over the mountains Cynthia walked up to Richard. It was so emotional as we could see the happiness and relief these two felt for it to finally be the moment in which they were waiting for for so long. I don’t need to say much more as you can see how the morning unfolded in these photos. Far more beautifully than I could ever articulate.
So yes, it’s easy to look at these photos and think how lucky they were, but it was their story up until this point that led them to this place in the mountains. Somewhere between Heaven and Earth.
