Sometimes I think about how lucky we are that x works the way it does: for example, an object encased in metal has a neutral electrical field inside, no matter what the electric field outside the object looks like. This means that you can have airplanes and such get hit by lightning, but because they're just a big box encased by metal, the plane and everyone inside is just fine because the electric field stays neutral inside. (Additionally it allows us to have protection against unwanted signals, any wallet that says it protects your card info from being stolen, it just encases your card in a thin sheet of metal)
Anyway how lucky are we that metal can block fields like that?
How lucky that frozen water floats?
How lucky are we that we're here?

I've decided to keep a notebook by the armchair in my room to help prevent doom scrolling: essentially I use it to take notes on the things I see online when they are particularly interesting or whatever but I'm also quickly getting into the habit of just kinda writing whenever I feel like it!
Below are my notes on ChatGPTs color analysis and I'm like %90 sure everyone gets the same color analysis from chatGPT but I like autumnal pallets so that's ok by me.

I also came up with a reference format:

Anyway it's a good time and I'm spending less of my days doom scrolling :D

I a really odd book collection that I keep expanding entirely on accident so today I'ma tell you about my best friends favorite book in my collection: 500 bungalows

Here's my favorite bungalow for no particular reason:

The author/photographer (Douglas) has apparently written 12 books on bungalows alone and I'm fairly certain he just walked around the US (mostly California) taking photos of peoples houses? There is nothing in the book that indicates that he actually asked permission before doing so???
I got this from my local used/vintage bookstore
6/10: likely didn't ask for permission to take photos, but its one of the first books people notice on my bookshelves and it's my besties favorite. Good conversation starter and allows me to immediately show that I have much stranger books available to look at.

Hi! I'm Willow!
I'm trying out a study blog for the first time here! I'm also just new to tumblr, so I'm not %100 sure what I am doing XD
I go by Wil or Willow (Wil is spelt with a singular L) and I use they/them pronouns, I live in Washington, USA, and I'm 18! I'll be studying Electrical Engineering, and I'm going to be a freshman in college in mid August.
I love working on videogames and bookbinding in my spare time, but I've recently picked up knitting. I am eternally fascinated by outdated technology (just got a cd, cassette, and radio player from goodwill the other day). My parents think I'm crazy because this was the stuff they grew up with but its one of my special interests so they can't do anything about it.
I'm making this studyblr because I want a public means to keep myself motivated next year. I hope to do fantastic things over the next four years!
thank you to @myhoneststudyblr, @studyquill, and @eintsein for creating their "how to create a studyblr" posts! Probably would be too scared to start without these as resources!

Why is your morning routine so important?

I used to be that girl who woke up to the sound of a blaring alarm seconds before school started. Got up grabbed myself a bowl of fruit loops or a bagel and left for school. Of course, I was younger back then. It didn't affect me much until I got older. Firstly, your body is hypersensitive to everything in the morning. Your brain is being activated after a long night's rest, it's hyper-aware of its surroundings. Your cortisol is at its peak in the first few hours of waking up. When you make your body wake up to the sound of a stressful alarm, and rush yourself out the door, especially with bad nutrition, it sets your day up for stress and less productivity or motivation. You may not notice it, but your body definitely does. If your body is in a chronic state of stress or even In the mornings, it can lead to a multitude of side effects such as anxiety, digestion problems, weight gain, fatigue, high blood pressure, and the list goes on. Some of us like me won't even notice how stressed out our bodies are until we change it. So don't think because you don't notice it much doesn't mean it's not there, you're just used to it. So, my solution? Here is (in short) what I did to help make my morning routines a lot more relaxing to set me up for a successful day.
1: Wake up much earlier before you leave the house, I wake up around 6:30-7 most days. Make sure you sleep early the night before because sleep is so important!!!
Tip: Stay off your phone an hour after waking up to reduce any excess stress
2: Changed my alarm to birds to make it more of a natural wake-up. I know you might think this won't do anything, but the one apple makes for the sleep setting is super loud!
3: Do a morning meditation. This can be affirmations, guided, or even just music.
4. Work out or stretch. It can even be 5 mins, just wake up your body.
5. Get some vitamin D. Getting some real sunlight on your face without sunglasses helps our body naturally align with our circadian rhythm and can help wake you up and also get a good sleep when its dark out.
6. Eat a healthy breakfast. For me, I love something with high proteins and a balance of fats and carbs.
7. Have a ritual drink. This can be an herbal tea or just some regular coffee. Having a warm drink every morning helps me relax.
8. Journalling. Journalling helps me find my thoughts for the day or plan it out, it's a game changer when I do.
Of course, these are a lot of things and many of you might have other things to do in your lives, so take it slow and just start little by little! Eventually, you can add more things into your routine to make it personalized, but this is what I've found to help most. All journies are personal and what works for me may not work for you.

Wake up and open your curtains. Your windows too.
Drink some tea or coffee, whatever pleases you. Notice every sip.
Have some fresh fruit and finish breakfast feeling full.
Stand outside and feel the air. Cool or warm, it will make you feel real.
Get some exercise. Yoga to soothe, running to breathe, lifting for strength.
Take care of your body. Have a nice shower and pamper as much as you want afterward.
If you’re going to work, remember you have the chance to make anyone’s day or to ruin it. Act accordingly.
Weed out the bad language. It’s only creating tension in your body and mind. Kind words are infinitely more appreciated.
Take some time each day to improve your mind. Keep reading that great book. Listen to an incredible piece of music. Practice an instrument or a skill. The progress is its own reward.
Pictures will help you remember how wonderful life is. But spend less time on your phone and more time seeing the world face to face.
Go to sleep knowing that you have done well. Tomorrow is there with room to become even better.
-Notes to myself on how to become a better person this summer.

Just drew my class schedule for this fall!! I will be commuting to school which means the 9 am will probably suck quite a bit but honestly I'm very happy for the two hour gap after math! Plenty of time for homework without enough time to get distracted and go home or something.
I will need to brush up on my calculus however, it's been about a year since my last math course so time to bring out the khan academy!
Anyway I'm very excited to start college <3
