Reading my own fanfiction is basically just a rollercoaster of emotional whiplash.

20% of the time: “Hold on. I wrote this? This is fire. This is emotionally devastating in the best way. This scene is dripping with tension. I’m a literary perfectionist. Someone give me a book deal.”

80% of the time: “Straight to jail. Immediate prison. Why is everyone’s breath hitching?. I used the word ‘gaze’ three times in one paragraph like I was possessed. Did I think 'his eyes darkened' was profound? Why is everyone clenching their jaws? Why is someone whispering 'their name like a prayer' again?? No one talks like this. What is this dialogue. Why are there so many weird metaphors and em-dashes…”

Still find it wild that people dont forget me the second im not talking to them. What do you mean things remind you of me and you think about me when im not there?

I think a lot of what makes fanfiction so magical is writers taking the time to explore tiny elements that were imagined into existence in the source material and then abandoned. It's the deep dive into that t-shirt, the forgotten gift, the nickname, the spare key, the anger they swallowed down, the trauma they supressed, the love they denied, the story that wasn't mainstream enough to make it. It's the little things getting their moment to shine and I fucking love that and I will fight for it always.

tobias and gabin are so special because they immediately matched wavelength and so organically developed a style of communication for the most part unintelligible to everybody else, and i'm not just talking about made up words, it's about deviating from typical conventions. both tobias and gabin are accepted or at least tolerated but they're generally not understood. but they make their own conventions. they understand each other.

anyway get you a man who understands the whoosh and does NOT skip it
