even beyond the fact that you also shouldn't be cruel to poly people, like, it's just really very hard to ignore that every single joke about "[regional] polycule" or poly roommates or whatever else seems to lead back to some very nasty statements about fat people, disabled people, and/or trans women at its core. which isn't surprising at all if you understand these to be affirmations of the norm per monogamy but you see them soooo often from people who purport to have the politics of those who fucking know better

Three of my friends and I went and took some money to buy a kilo of flour, which costs $85, and we were on the way.

sorry I'm still harping on this but the TMEs are still in my notes and it's just so frustrating to be told I need to know my lesbian history when I do and what I know is that lesbian communities in the US in the periods they love so much fucking hated trans women many of those people are still around and still do. but I'm supposed to celebrate those people and their subculture and revere it because it's beyond reproach, it's critical to loving other women actually.

i do think that people kinda miss what's going on with the anti-Irish sentiments in Steven Universe. Rebecca Sugar is Irish-American, so it's their attempt to grapple with being a member of a diaspora, as well as Irish history in general. Pearl's writing is a bit strong at times, but she's not supposed to be in the right when she starts talking about how the British should have finished the job hundreds of years ago. i think it's tasteless at times, like I don't know if such an upbeat mood was really the right sound for that musical number, but i can understand where they were coming from
