I got super happy about a game with wings but the next line says that the mc doesn’t have them. Why do all ifs do this??? Like, if it’s a world of magic, the mc doesn’t have it; if the are all supernatural creatures, the mc is a human.

Trust me, I know that feeling. I love magic and fantasy as much as you, and playing an inhuman MC is the best part of them.

I don’t know if you’re going to stick with my game or not, but there is a reason why the MC is the only one without wings. Unfortunately I can’t say much because it’ll spoil the story, but the Wings of Dawn MC isn’t any ordinary human either :)

Upcoming Schedule

I’m back from vacation (or too-busy-to write break)! Sorry for the radio silence. I had to concentrate on work and so I turned off all notifications. I was really surprised and happy when I opened the app and saw that a lot of people have liked my post!

My schedule is still a bit muddled up right now, so I won’t be able to work on updates right away. However, I know that some of you have been experiencing bugs and inconveniences. I’ll start working on fixing these issues next week, and I’ll hope to brush up on chapter 1 & 2 within this month.

After that, I’m planning to throw myself into writing the upcoming chapters.

Wings of Dawn has finally released!

Thank you all for the warm support and encouragement! This is my first ever CYOA game (and any writing piece that isn’t my college essay) I have written, and even though it was hard at times, your support gave me the energy to keep writing!

As some of you know, the release date has been postponed a couple of times, and I’m terribly sorry for that. Editing took more time than I thought, and yet this WIP still has many problems. These will be addressed in the next update, and hopefully fixed.

• Inconsistency of character

• lack of MC personality/flavour text

• Rushed scenes, skipped/locked parts of the story

• The latter part of Chapter 2 in particular has parts still not written/only the bare bones of the story

• a more natural introduction to the lore/world-building

• better balance of stats

Out of curiosity, are the mentions of SA explicit? I'm lowkey asking for both me and my partner lol I recommend all sorts of stuff and I wanna make sure it's alright for them to read this comfortably. Thanks either way! I am excited about reading this the premise seems really cool and I'm all up for fantasy setting type stuff and congrats on the release!

The SA will not be explicit, and since it’s connected to a somewhat minor character, it will only be mentioned once or twice throughout the whole story. I will also make sure to warn beforehand, since I understand SA is a touchy subject.

How old is the MC supposed to be at the start? They seem to act simultaneously 8 and 18. I can't place them at all.

When I first started writing this I had planned for a younger 12-14 MC, but I later changed my mind to 17. I think that inconsistency is kind of showing in the story right now, which I plan to fix next update along with adding personality traits.

In a world where wings are everything, you are the only one born without them. You grow up in a modest village under the wing of your father until one day you are forced to flee from a mysterious attack on your village.

 Travel through the three unique nations of Askgard to find out the secret of your own birth. Along your journey, you may meet, befriend, and even romance shady merchants, runaway nobles, knights with a hidden past—and fight your way through the looming shadows threatening to engulf Askgard beside them.

Be careful, for there are threads of conspiracy spun just outside of your sight; things may not be as they seem. In the end, you may be the only one who has the power to save Askgard from ruin.

Guys, would you forgive me if I ask for 1 more day to finalise some stuff before releasing the demo? Mainly for 2 reasons:

1. I totally forgot about preparing/writing the introduction posts for Tumblr and COG Forum.

2. I want to smooth out some parts of the demo writing a bit more if possible.

Weekly Progress Update & Important Notice

Wings of Dawn has now reached 19k!

However, I still need some more time. I’m sorry to those that are waiting for the demo, but I’m pushing pack the release date to May 5, 2024, which is next week.

Don’t worry too much because most of the demo is already written. I just need a bit more time to revise and adjust some choices/stats.

Weekly Progress Update

Total word count is now 15k! Nothing much to report this week except that I had my wisdom teeth removed, and it hurts like hell, hence the slower progress. I’ll pick up speed next week, so no worries!

Weekly Progress Update

Wings of Dawn has now reached 12k words excluding commands!

While 12k may not seem as much compared to other authors with over 100k or so, it’s a special benchmark for me since it’s the longest piece I have ever written. I kid you not, even my grad thesis wasn’t this long.

The demo is planned to be around 20k, so pretty good progress as of now!

Some lore about wings:

So I promised yesterday to drop some lore/details about the wings in this story, and here it is.

In Askgard, almost every human is born with wings, either black or white. These wings are constructed by feathers like a bird’s. The wings can be broken down into types that are also identical to birds: passive soaring wings, active soaring wings, elliptical wings, high-speed wings, and some others.

Here’s a reference:

The social structure in this world is largely dependent on this feature; people with black wings usually are higher up in the social hierarchy, while white wings are frequently looked down upon.

This social structure was shaped by a war between the two races hundreds of years ago, which I’ll elaborate on some other time.

Then there are the astronomically rare wingless people like you, the MC. You’re the very bottom rung of the social ladder. The church says you’re cursed; that you’ve been denied the blessing of wings because you’ve done something sinful in your past life. But did you?
