Sorry but I LOVE the teifling/vampire purring headcanons so much like I HAVE to gush about it !!!
I feel like Astarion would definitely already know that teiflings could purr when they're very happy/content/in love. So the first time he gets Tanit (my teifling Tav) to truly purr deeply, with her whole chest, he is SO proud of himself it's almost insufferable. Those warm, bubbly feelings in his own chest are a LIL more intense than expected, but it's only because his nice simple plan is going so perfectly. Of course he's happy.
BUT I'm willing to bet NEITHER of them knew about the fact that vampires can purr because it's simply not very common for vampires. They only ever do it when they feel exceptionally content and safe, usually among another member of their kind that they form a rare bond with. Such happy circumstances are rare for vampires and Astarion has had a shitty life even by vampires spawn standards so of course neither he or any of his siblings ever got to experience such a thing.
And so one night they're cuddling, maybe after Cazador is dead and Astarion finally has that threat no longer looming over him. He feels amazing. He feels more loved and safe and happy than he can ever remember feeling. Tanit starts raking her fingers through hair. He instinctively lets out a sigh of contentment, but instead what comes out is a...low rumbling??
They're both lying chest-to-chest so for a moment he thinks maybe it came from her, but no. This purring is much deeper. The vibrations very clearly came from his chest this time. They both look at each other and Astarion is maybe a little confused and embarrassed and possibly wondering if he's somehow involuntarily picked up her mannerisms. Until they both learn it's perfectly natural for vampires to purr as well. Just another thing they share in common.
And then they proceeded to spend every cuddle session thereafter purring together like two very happy big cats.

The same is true for any of my characters! Either Tavi or my Durge, Aravae!
Baldur's Gate 3 Companion!Tav Ask List
What if your Tav was a recruitable companion, instead of the main character? (contains major spoilers for the game, and for some dark urge runs as well)
General
Where can your Tav be recruited?  Are they first encountered on the Nautiloid, or in the Nautiloid crash region?  Or are they not recruitable until a later act?
Do the other companions have special comments or reactions upon recruiting your Tav?
Does your Tav have any comments or advice when you recruit other companions?
What sort of general actions raise or lower their approval?
Are there any instances where your Tav can permanently leave the party, depending on player character actions?
Do they have any secrets that can be revealed?  What are the prerequisites for this secret coming to light?
Do they have their own personal quest that spans the course of the game?  Can it take different branching paths depending on the choices the Player Character makes?
What do they say when the Player Character asks them to stay in camp?  How about when the Player Character asks them to come adventuring again?
Does your Tav have any escalating conflicts with one of the other companions, like Lae’zel and Shadowheart’s knife-fight?
Are there any unique NPCs associated with your Tav that can show up during the course of the game?
Are there any moments in the game that trigger unique dialogue for your character? (Like Gale’s anecdote about the barfight after you save the goblin prisoner)
Story Specific
How does your Tav advise the player character when it comes to the Dream Visitor?
How do they advise the player character on Raphael?
How do they react to Astarion biting the Player Character?
How do they react to the Player Character letting Abdirak whip them?
How do they react to the Player Character taking their first tadpole power?
Will they stay with the Player Character regardless of siding with the goblins or the tieflings, or is it possible for them to leave the party permanently?
What can they be found doing at the tiefling/goblin party?
Do they have comments on who the Player Character chooses to spend the night with?
Do they have unique dialogue if the Player Character lets them die when they steal the Blood of Lathander?
How do they react if the PC licks the dead spider in the Gauntlet of Shar?
What do they say if the PC tries to force them to go up on stage with Dribbles the Clown?
Is it possible for your Tav to be kidnapped and replaced by Orin?  How is Orin's deception revealed?  How do they react to the PC rescuing them in the Temple of Bhaal?
How do they react to the PC either allowing Astarion to ascend or convincing him to spare the 7000 spawn?
How does Tav react to the PC becoming a mind flayer?  Can they offer to become one themselves?  Does their reaction change if they’re romanced?
How do they react when the Dark Urge first reveals their amnesia and murderous thoughts to them?
How do they react to the Dark Urge killing Alfira?
If romanced, how do they react to the Dark Urge trying to kill them in Act 2?
Romance
Is your Tav a romanceable character?  Are there any specific requirements to romancing them?
Does your Tav need to be flirted with to start the romance, or will they approach the PC themselves if approval is high enough?
Are they a polyamorous or a monogamous option?
Do they have a special romance scene at the tiefling/goblin party?
Does the romance have different branching paths, or just one route to take?
How do they react to the player character breaking up with them, or choosing another character over them?
What questions can Zethino ask the PC about Tav in the Love Test?
If they’re poly, do they have a reaction to the PC engaging in a relationship with Halsin?
How do they react if the PC has sex with Mizora? The Emperor?  Haarlep?
Will they join in with the PC and the Drow Twins, or no?
What are Tav’s plans for the future?  Do they propose to the PC, or is marriage not something they’re interested in?
Free space! Share anything from your companion!Tav au!

So there's one Astarion debate I haven't put my two cents in yet, and that's changing today guys. Buckle up.
Astarion's eyes are either green with golden flecks or blue with golden flecks. I'll tell you why.
Astarion is a high elf. High elves have 4 subraces. Of the 4 subraces, 2 have the possibility to have silver hair like his. Those two races are moon elf and star elf. From there we can narrow by personality.
Moon elf personality description: Impulsive, with a strong distaste for complacency.
Star elf personality description: Aloof and cautious.
Now, I love Astarion, but he's not aloof. That man cares too much. So personality wise that narrows to moon elf.
Moon elves have one of two eye colors: green with golden flecks or blue with golden flecks. So Astarion's eyes looked like one of these two:

Opening chests - A guide by Astarion Ancunín
As someone who's been merely seen as a body to use in the worst kind of ways, Astarion enjoys being needed for just about anything else.
You first noticed this when the rest of the party struggled to open a promising looking treasure chest which you all hoped would contain some direly needed riches - or at least something to make for a good dinner.
You were just about to step in and offer your expertise when Astarion made an entrance.
“By all the gods above and below! You bunch call yourself adventurers and can't even pick a simple lock such as this?” he exclaimed as he strode over with a swagger and a viciously teasing smirk. Gale moaned. He knew just like any of the others that Astarion was about to be insufferable when he put on a tone like this - more insufferable than usual that means.
“All these books and not a single one to be useful, just as always? Am I right - oh great Gale of Waterdeep?” the vampire barked back at the wizard's annoyed reaction.
Gale just pressed his mouth into a thin line, not willing to hand his pale companion more opportunities for snide remarks.
“I could always smash it with my axe,” Karlach chimed in and immediately grabbed for her martial weapon and took an enthusiastic step towards the chest.
Astarion threw out his arms to hold her off: “NO!” The tiefling just shrugged and casually hammered her weapon into the ground and leaned against it - an impressive show of her strength.
“My dear Karlach,” Astarion began “your uhm… enthusiasm is deeply appreciated.” (The sarcasm in his voice told another story. But Karlach still beamed at him) “But stuff like this is in need of a little more finesse,” the rogue finished and wiggled his long fingers.
You watched all of this as you crossed your arms over your chest. The lock really wasn't that big of a challenge. You could have probably done it in the middle of the night, with no light source and drunk out of your mind. But Astarion was keen to make a show of it seemed - and by now you were too interested to watch it play out as your less roguish companions watched.
Astarion produced his thieves tools out of his pocket with an artful flip and a wink he aimed specifically at you. You grinned at him. Despite his sometimes goofy or weird mannerisms and the cheesy lines he dropped on about everyone ( but especially on you), you couldn't helped but to be charmed by the vampire.
Astarion made to get to work.
“Now watch,” he exclaimed cheerfully “and take some notes,” he finished dryly with a pointed look at Gale who just threw his hands in the air at another unneeded jab towards him.
It was merely the blink of an eye and suddenly the lock made an very audible a click and fell to the dusty ground.
Astarion jumped up again almost as quickly as he had kneeled down in front of the chest. “Hah!” he exclaimed, twirled around to the party and made an obnoxiously gracious bow.
Karlach clapped, honestly impressed.
You just smirked.
Shadowheart rolled her eyes.
Gale immediately went to open the chest and- “It's empty,” he declared. “What a grand treasure you have revealed to us, oh great Astarion of Know-it-all,” the wizard spat. “It was all for nothing.”
The glance the vampire threw at Gale couldn't have been more sharp had he used his dagger on the wizard. “You all got a great learning opportunity. You should be grateful!” Astarion answered and pursed his lips
“Learned what exactly, Astarion? We could see nothing,” Wyll commented dryly, earning another dagger glance.
Astarion clicked his tongue and strode off as the others seemed to have lost interest in the damned chest now that it had proven worthless.
“Don't come to me again then, crying for help,” the vampire snarled as he walked off, shoulders slumped a little. There might have been just the tiniest tinge of hurt in his voice.
“No one asked him,” Gale muttered. But now he earned sharp looks from the others too.
“What?” the wizard asked offendedly looking around the others.
“Every once in a while even a Know-it-all like Astarion deserves a little praise,” you said as you looked after the vampire. “The next time he opens a lock up for you, you better give him a little pat on the back. We all should, actually,” you closed and then went to go after Astarion.
The others muttered in quiet agreement.
And in fact, from there on out, Astarion became the designated lock picker of the party. And you were happy every time you saw Astarion's ruby eyes sparkle a little with pride when you asked for his help.

Saw someone complain once about Astarion's reaction when you lose your magic to the Susur blossoms ("Uh, can you get it back? I don't travel with you for your personality you know") and it was kinda funny bc they were like "I thought he'd be nicer/less teasing about it if you're romancing him :("
Skill issue. I'm sitting over here giggling and kicking my feet over how much of a mean little bitch he is.

Astarions Agonies
Why WOULD you want to love someone after everything has been taken from you? Everything but your name. Everything but your name
Your sense of taste, the warmth of your skin, your own heartbeat. Your reflection in the mirror. Your home, your clothes, your friends, your family. Your history, memories, your life.
Stripped of all of this, left with only the ability to feel. Mentally. Physically. And then that, too, is broken. Because it cannot be taken, so it must be controlled.
Anyone you care for, murdered. And not just murdered, but you have to do it. You have to bring them to their death. Maybe you have to watch. So you protect yourself, you protect them- whoever they nay be, whoever they could have been. You cannot care. You cannot. The consequences are too high.
Your body, every touch you delight in is perverted by the same solemn end. How can you enjoy this, even as a distraction from the more violent touches you are forced to endure, when you are still being forced? You cannot choose the sweet, the kind, the gentle, for they meet the same fate as the cruel, the evil, the fools. Picking soft touches over harsh ones fades to picking at random, to grabbing whoever you can get. Because it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It all ends the same way.
And then there is the pain. The Punishments. At first, tastes of who you are- who you can be, are traded out; exchanged for physical torment and 'correction' of your behavior. But the punishments so hea ily outweigh the benefits of a snide remark, a night out too late, a prank, a room visited after being informed it is off limits. A victim you refused to hand over.
This life- no, this Un-death allows for a greater torment than any living person could survive. Hunger, thirst, pain, psychological abuse, sexual abuse. Never, ever ending. There is not a second in the day for two hundred years that you are not watched, used, handled, beaten, starved. Even in your rest there is no relief, for you cannot sleep but only enter reverie- a skill wherein your mind re-lives what you have been through, over and over.
So why would you choose to try to love someone? Why try to trust? Why, when you know what happens when you do?
Perhaps you've been allowed to believe you made it out before, only to have been captured and dragged back. Perhaps you've been allowed to believe a friend or a lover has escaped before, only to be called into a room and advised to clean up their corpse.
The only difference now is the sun on your skin.
The distance between you and that place.
The days, and days, and days that begin to pass with no retribution for your insolence, for your escape.
And these people, these idiots keep... not trying to kill you. Even when they find out what you are. One of them keeps looking at you like they might really care. You can use that, can't you?
Why would you love, when you could use their love to get your revenge?
But... in the wee hours of the morning, in the arms of a living, breathing person who has bedded you more than once and still is not gone forever, you think... maybe, maybe He didn't take it All from you.
Maybe even if he did, you could get it back.
Maybe you could love.
Maybe you could... try living, again.

Hey @wizardarchetypes people who use large words are super sexy and those asshats in your comments ought to expand their vocabulary before they start talking shit. I got your back, yo.
Also Gale never came across as mansplaining to me who has been surrounded by mansplainers constantly. He's damn respectful in comparison, honestly, and is just excited to share his extremely vast knowledge of the arcane with a fellow scholar. If there was a moment where he came across as a bit of an ass, it was when he implied that my sorcerer wasn't versed in magic. Which went promptly corrected.
the truth about Gale is I really don’t think he “mansplains” I think he’s genuinely always very earnest and overly excited to share information with people but he’s an academic so he just sounds like that

The only one Tavi trusts with the brain cell is either Jaheira or Lae'zel after she disowns Vlaakith.
But honestly, none of them can be trusted with a bottle of Baldur's Grape, let alone leadership duties.
That and if she ever did get kidnapped, there's about an 85% chance the bad guys would return her after spending about ten minutes with her.
yoinking off a reddit thread, which companion would step up as leader if your tav/durge was kidnapped in Act 3?

People are always saying Astarion must be really kinky
And sure, I mean that comes with the whole vampire thing. He's not vanilla that's for sure. But on the other hand he's also oddly...Gentle? He cradles tavs head during bite night and checks on them the morning after.
He is very soft and loving in the first romance scene, if you don't invite him to bite you, it's basically just sweet kisses and gently being set down on the ground. The "roughest" thing that happens is getting pushed against a tree. He's playful. He doesn't do anything "kinky" or rough unless invited. When partnered, his kisses are very sweet. He always takes a moment to look into tavs eyes and smile after and tells them how amazing they are or how much he enjoys being with them.
He only gets rough by default if he's ascended. In which that is a whole power dynamic that tav is consenting to (hopefully, otherwise don't ascend him). I feel like with all the things he has gone through, he cherishes being soft and gentle with his love more than anything else.
TLDR: Astarion is a big softie by nature and I think that's cool. Especially with the stereotypes of how vampires act towards their lovers in most media.

okay FINE I’ll write a post about the emperor, if tumblr’s going to give me thirst posts either way I might as well. huge endgame spoilers for bg3
the emperor is a goddamn masterpiece of game design, because he’s YOUR powerful, abusive manipulator. Wyll has Mizora, Shadowheart has Shar, Lae’zel has Vlaakith, etc— and Tav has the emperor.
They position him as your guardian. They let you design him a face so he’s trustworthy to you. MOST of his advice is… technically true. You CAN get power from the tadpoles, the githyanki ARE dangerous, you CAN beat the elder brain without Orpheus.
But it’s all a misdirect. He doesn’t care about you. If you do his “romance” scene, he’s pulling a nastier version of Astarion’s “I slept with you so you’d protect me” stunt. He needs you to obey him, to trust him, to see him as an equal.
You learn the fates of his last two “equal partners”— Ansur, whose death the emperor tries to keep you from discovering by claiming he never existed at all, and Stelmane, who the emperor claims was his friend and business partner right up until you mouth off too much, when he admits she was his thrall, and you aren’t because you’re more useful with your wits about you.
Can you really trust his “ethical” brain harvesting claims, given the other lies and half truths? Whether you think eating criminals is a lesser evil or not, there are cages in his quarters. He had thralls. His “shared memory” where he shows himself as a mindflayer in a cloak doesn’t account for the record of a glamor in his quarters that kept kitchen staff from noticing human brain meat until leftovers were removed from the room. He was manipulating people’s senses when they were around him.
But he CAN help you. He IS on your side. As long as you’re on his side, of course. His own self preservation comes first, and that’s not inherently terrible, but he will twist whatever he needs to to get you to help him, no matter how much harm it does.
He’s an incredible character. He fascinates and horrifies me. He’s perfect for his role and I love how they used mind flayers, how he’s setting you up before you even start the game.
TL;DR: long live Prince Orpheus, asshole
