So... I messed up

Hi everyone,

This is just to apologise that this remix event didn't end up happening this year, after I said it would. Things just didn't end up happening. Sorry for everyone who was looking forward to it.

However, I feel like this is probably a good time to ask for interest in it running Spring 2022. Sign ups in February or March, then the event running until June-ish? That seems like it will be after the Winter holiday events are over and any Valentines events that happen.

Hi!

Sorry about the delay. I have been thinking about this, but the @winterhawk-olympic-bang has been keeping me busy.

I'm going to try to put out a survey to gauge interest and timeline for this year, and see if people want anything changed from how we did things last year. And I also need to speak to the other mods to see how things are on their ends. But there should be more information within the week.

It’s been 5 days since the fics were revealed, and that means 1 thing: it’s time for the authors to step out from behind the curtain!

Did you guess any of them? Did you find a new favourite writer? Who really did write that amazing fic?

Bucky was smoking hot, after all. Clint just really hopes he doesn’t get mad when he finds out that Clint’s been telling everyone he’s Bucky boyfriend. Bottom of the Sea (just don’t go without me remix) (Rating: Teen) A remix of @verdantmoth’s bottom of the sea It was on his way out that he saw it. It looked pretty innocuous, like a bedroll or someone’s discarded coat, but he knew it as soon as he saw it. His mom’s had looked the same way, too long unworn and faded around the edges, but still silky smooth and beautiful in the right light. Clint limped over and grabbed the skin, draping it over his arms as best he could, trying not to touch it too much with his hands and the crusted-in blood under his fingernails. By Faith Alone (Rating: Teen) A remix of @badacts’ sola fide Bucky’s daemon knows full well what he wants, but it’s going to take a while for his head to get onboard with his heart.

Fractured, a Splintered Remix (Rating: Explicit) A remix of @flawedamythyst’s Splintered Clint touches something mystical at Dr. Strange’s place and next thing Bucky knows, there are four extra Clints running around. He takes it upon himself to gather them up and help them come to some important realizations about the world. You know. Sexually. I dreamed I held you in my arms (Rating: Teen) A remix of @fadedsepia’s Like Sunshine He’s just about managed to focus on the mission, mentally reviewing the details of the target, when Clint strolls out of the bathroom, long and lean and — “You’re wearing that?” James finds himself saying. Clint stops short as he loops the purple aid around his ear and presses the earmold in, sky-blue eyes wide and startled. “Yeah? Why — is there something wrong with it?” James can’t help himself, his eyes wandering the slow course from head to toe. The dress shirt is mustard-yellow, linen so fine that it’s practically transparent. The collar is unbuttoned almost midway, showing the sharp jut of Clint’s collarbone and a slice of freckled chest below. The residual steam from the shower is already making the fabric cling to Clint’s incredible musculature. It’s fucking obscene. i hope i’ll see you when it’s light (the remix) (Rating: Teen) A remix of @nightwideopen’s i hope i’ll see you when it’s light After the fifth time they sleep together, Clint knows he’s in too deep. He lowered the beaters into the mixing bowl with the speed setting turned up a little too fast, making his batter fling up in tiny flecks. “Jesus, again? How To Change The Post Date on your Remix Fic

Hey guys!

We are so excited to see all your fics in the collection just waiting to be revealed!

This post is to help you change the posting date on your fic from when you actually submitted it to the collection to 25 June 2020 so that your fic will be at the top of the Clint/Bucky tag on AO3 where it will be seen immediately and get the most views! 

If you already know how to do this, go forth and change your dates! Please be sure to change the publication date of your fic to 24 or 25 June 2020.

You will not be able to set the publication date to 24 June until 24 June. AO3 will not allow you to set future publication dates.

Hopefully if you follow the steps outlined below, this should all go smoothly.

How to Change the Date on Your Fic

You’ll have to begin by finding your fic in the collection.  This is done by selecting “Collections” on your dashboard.  From there it will show all collections for which you have a fic.  Please select “Winterhawk Remix” (it should be near the bottom, as collections are organized alphabetically).  The only fic you should be able to see in the collection is your own.

1. Select your fic or select the “Edit” button on the fic. If you open the fic first, you will need to select “Edit” at the top of the page. 

2. In the same section where you added your fic to the Remix Collection and included the URL of the fic you were remixing, there is a section titled “Set a different publication date”. When you select this option you will be able to change the date of publication for your fic.  Remember to set the date of publication to 24 or 25 June 2020, as reveals are 25 June.

If you prefer, you may change the publication date after reveal on the 25th if that is easier for you, so that your work shows up more recently on the timeline.  

3. That’s it! Now hit “Post” at the bottom of the screen, and your fic has been updated to reflect the publication date to be the same as the Reveal Date for the collection! 

4. Bask in the validation you receive when fics are revealed and everyone can see your great work!

We’ve received almost all the fics we were expecting, with only a couple outstanding. That’s almost 20 Winterhawk fics!

If you haven’t posted your fic yet...

...and haven’t got in touch with us, we have sent out an email asking about your status and whether you’re still participating in this event. PLEASE REPLY TO THE EMAIL or contact us via an ask to this blog. We need to know as soon as possible if you’re just running late or if you’re dropping out so that any pinch hitters we need will have as much time as possible. If you haven’t replied within 12 hours, we’ll try contacting you directly via tumblr. If you don’t respond to that, then we’ll be asking for pinch hitters first thing tomorrow.

Hey guys!

How are things going? Hopefully you’re all full of inspiration and your remixes are coming along well!

This post is both a reminder that there’s now just under a month left before fics have to be posted - all fics should be posted to the collection on AO3 by 20th June - and a guide to how to do that for those of you who haven’t participated in an anonymous challenge using AO3 before.

We’ve set up a collection on AO3, so hopefully if you follow the steps outlined below, this should all go smoothly.

How to Post Your Fic

Mostly, you just follow the usual steps for posting a work to AO3, but there are a few little extra boxes to check. Please make sure you follow these steps, or your fic won’t show up in the official remix collection and won’t be anonymous (unless you set it that way yourself).

1. About half way down the posting page, you’ll find a section where it says “Post to Collections / Challenges” and across from this is a box. Type “Winterhawk remix” into the box and you should see the option “Winterhawk Remix 2020 (Winterhawk_Remix_2020)” come up in the drop down list. Click on it.

2. After that, your form should look a little like the screenshot below. Then, below the “Gift this work to” header, you should see some radio buttons. Click on the top one, labelled “This work is a remix, a translation, a podfic, or was inspired by another work.”

3. Once you’ve clicked on that, several new options will appear. As everyone who is taking part in this challenge has put their work on AO3, you shouldn’t need to bother with most of this. All you have to do is put the URL of the fic you are remixing in that top text box, across from where it says “URL”.

4. Finish posting your work as you would do normally.

You should be able to see your fic, but no one else will. The only people who should be able to see all the fics before we do the first reveal on the 25th June are the mods.

Because the collection is set up to be anonymous, your fics should automatically be shown as anonymous without you having to do anything more thanks to the wonders of AO3 being designed specifically by and for fandom!

Closer to the time, we’ll post another update with how to change the date on your fic so that people see it when it’s revealed.

Hopefully, that all makes sense! And hopefully it works!

Hello everyone!

This is your official 1 week reminder. There are 7 days left before the official deadline for the Winterhawk Remix.

One week today - Saturday 20th June, we’d like all fics to be posted to the Winterhawk Remix collection on AO3.

We’ve already had some fics posted, which is great!

We hope you’ve all been having fun with this challenge, and you’re not stressing out over it too much. It’s always important to prioritise your own health and happiness over fandom, and the world has been a very stressful and worrying place lately. So make sure you take breaks and that you’re properly fed and watered. We hope you’re all alright out there and you’re staying as safe as you can while doing what you need to do.

Tell us if you’re going to need a bit more time, or if you’re going to have to drop out entirely so we can plan accordingly and get pinch hitters mobilised.

By or on is fine, We’d like every fic to be posted to AO3 by the end of the 20th - 11:59 pm British Summer Time. That gives us 5 days to chase people up and check on everything (and maybe get last minute pinch hitters if necessary) before the fics are actually revealed.

Hey guys!

How are things going? Hopefully you’re all full of inspiration and your remixes are coming along well!

This post is both a reminder that there’s now just under a month left before fics have to be posted - all fics should be posted to the collection on AO3 by 20th June - and a guide to how to do that for those of you who haven’t participated in an anonymous challenge using AO3 before.

We’ve set up a collection on AO3, so hopefully if you follow the steps outlined below, this should all go smoothly.

How to Post Your Fic

Mostly, you just follow the usual steps for posting a work to AO3, but there are a few little extra boxes to check. Please make sure you follow these steps, or your fic won’t show up in the official remix collection and won’t be anonymous (unless you set it that way yourself).

1. About half way down the posting page, you’ll find a section where it says “Post to Collections / Challenges” and across from this is a box. Type “Winterhawk remix” into the box and you should see the option “Winterhawk Remix 2020 (Winterhawk_Remix_2020)” come up in the drop down list. Click on it.

2. After that, your form should look a little like the screenshot below. Then, below the “Gift this work to” header, you should see some radio buttons. Click on the top one, labelled “This work is a remix, a translation, a podfic, or was inspired by another work.”

3. Once you’ve clicked on that, several new options will appear. As everyone who is taking part in this challenge has put their work on AO3, you shouldn’t need to bother with most of this. All you have to do is put the URL of the fic you are remixing in that top text box, across from where it says “URL”.

4. Finish posting your work as you would do normally.

You should be able to see your fic, but no one else will. The only people who should be able to see all the fics before we do the first reveal on the 25th June are the mods.

Because the collection is set up to be anonymous, your fics should automatically be shown as anonymous without you having to do anything more thanks to the wonders of AO3 being designed specifically by and for fandom!

Closer to the time, we’ll post another update with how to change the date on your fic so that people see it when it’s revealed.
