Chapter 8 Something Just Like This

Lyanna, Jaime and Ashara - the three bestfriends having a blast

Lyanna saw the two of them still dancing to NutCracker. Ashara moving gracefully was too immersed in dancing, the sad expressions when she had entered were nowhere to be seen. But Lyanna had a hard time keeping her eyes off Jaime who continued with his endearing movements.

He was a caring friend, a kind man, a good human being. Behind his dry sense of humor and arrogant demeanor was a kind heart.

It was hard to tear away her eyes from him. The way his emerald eyes sparkled when he was happy. The way his lips curled when he smiled. The way he closed his eyes when his laugh was sincere.

The way she felt about him could that be called love?

The Mad King was at the height of his madness after the Harrenhal tournament, he was in such an unhinged state that seeing his son's wife was not able to have other children, he ordered Rhaegar to marry a second wife, no one in court especially Rhaegar wasn't very keen on that but under the promise that if he didn't do so Aerys would murder his children Rhaegar's second wedding was put into planning. All people thought that Cersei Lannister was the obvious choice but to anger Tywin Lannister even more the Mad King insisted the crown prince would marry Lyanna Stark, the ice maiden. Of course her father was very happy to give her away, she would be more important as a queen than a storm lady.

Rhaegar and Lyanna were familiar with each other, before they married, he was the person that knew her secret of the knight of the laughing tree, she wasn't too happy to get married, but Rhaegar had a reputation for being a better husband than her previous match. When she entered the Great Sept of Baelor, she was dresses strangely, not like a southern lady, but she was beautiful anyway. They got married under the seven gods, but at night on the time they were supposed to consummate their marriage Rhaegar took her to the Weirwood, and got married on a ceremony of her religion, when they got back he punctured his finger letting blood spill over their bed, telling her that this was going to be their new secret. That was when she fell for him.

actually, thinking off from my last post, i often see rhaelya referred to as "selfish" and it never sits well with me. how is it selfish to want autonomy over ones life? i mean their contemporaries would see it that way yes because they live in a terrible medieval society but its absolutely wild to me to see modern readers insist characters are selfish for not idly going along with important life decisions that other people made for them

theres no such thing as divorce in westeros really, your parents pick your partner and then you have to live with them for the rest of their life. or yours. and the whole act of marriage is still very intimate, since heirs are expected usually. its very much a bad, traumatic thing and this is further driven in with the customs where both parties are literally stripped naked by the public. its normal in westeros but as a modern reader, it should be clear how invasive and uncomfortable that is?

and ive never seen an anti provide alternatives either. so lyanna didnt want to be married and forced to have sex with a guy she didnt like - what were her options? because rickard was ambitious, her marriage was important to him. so what theyre suggesting is that not wanting to enter a coerced/forced relationship is 'selfish' and good, selfless people just go along with what their families want?

and rhaegars case is a bit more complicated but he was still in a similar situation. aerys chose his wife and its not clear how much say rhaegar had in it exactly. but even if he agreed, there was addictional pressure because he was the heir, one of the last few targaryens alive and his father was going insane, he needed to marry whether he liked it or not. and its also important to consider he was both a private person and someone whos witnessed his parents arranged marriage turn from toxic to horrifically abusive, its understandable why the concept of marrying a relative stranger would not sit comfortably with him, especially since once they married and consumated the marriage, thatd be it until one of them died. i dont really think his marriage with elia was toxic or anything near that but the element of choice was still missing there and thats. very important actually? again, wanting to choose who you want to be intimate with is not selfish, to modern readers it should be a given. as should be the right to end a relationship youre not happy with (especially if, again, the relationship wasnt your choice to begin with)

by modern standards, there is literally nothing self centered or entitled about wanting a consentual relationship with someone you actually like. insisting that the morally right thing to do is to just quietly suffer lest other people be scandalised sounds like something medieval people would say and not 21st century people who believe themselves progressive. and insisting you should prioritise other people when it comes to the matters of your own autonomy is equally weird behaviour. do no harm yes, but there was no direct harm done by rhaelya, all the shit that followed happened once decisions by other people got involved. brandon decided to scream bloody murder, aerys decided to commit murder, robert and the rebels decided to replace a whole dynasty and tywin and gregor decided to brutally murder the innocent. all these things happened because they intentionally decided to do it. the only thing rhaelya intentionally did was run off together and by modern standards, good for them?

Lyanna Stark, or better know for her cover name James Bond goes on her first mission as a 00. going after the banker to the world's terrorists. She knows he is participating in a poker game in Montenegro, where he must win back his money, in order to stay safe amongst the terrorist market. The boss of MI6, known simply as "B" sends Bond, along with Vesper Lynd the cover name of Rhaegar Targaryen to attend this game and prevent the banker from winning. Bond, using help from Howland Reed, and having Vesper pose as her partner, Bond enters the most important poker game in her already dangerous career.

She is often depicted as a peerless spy, notorious detective, and mysterious woman. She is also designated as agent 007 in the British Secret Intelligence Service, or MI6, after the last 007 had retired the first to not have died on the job. She has a slim build, thin vertical scar on the right side of her lips, it wasn't something too notorious, but yet it was still there, she has blue-grey eyes, and "gentle" mouth more than what a scared mouth would be, short and black hair.

rhaegar is melancholic and introverted while lyanna is emotionally expressive and has a “touch of wolf blood”. rhaegar is interested in “feminine” (within the context of asoiaf) stuff like music and poetry while lyanna wanted to wield a sword. rhaegar was unable to openly go against his father but he saw lyanna getting justice for an innocent man while unknowingly defying the mad king. they both don’t fit into their society but at the same time they complement each other like two pieces of puzzle and i think it’s fascinating <3

She slashed the boy across his thigh, so hard that his leg went out from under him and he fell into the pool and began to splash and shout. “You be quiet, stupid,” the girl said, tossing her own branch aside. “It’s just water. Do you want Old Nan to hear and run tell Father?” She knelt and pulled her brother from the pool, but before she got him out again, the two of them were gone.

The dragon prince sang a song so sad it made the wolf maid sniffle, but when her pup brother teased her for crying she poured wine over his head.

“That’s my father’s man you’re kicking,” howled the she-wolf.“

The fever had taken her strength and her voice had been faint as a whisper, but when he gave her his word, the fear had gone out of his sister’s eyes. Ned remembered the way she had smiled then, how tightly her fingers had clutched his as she gave up her hold on life, the rose petals spilling from her palm, dead and black.

It all happened so suddenly that even she couldn’t understand at first, what had transpired. Even though it had all been her doing. She saw the tinge of the sadness in his eyes, his pink lips slightly parted, his godlike face melancholic, his warm breath inches away from her face and before she knew she had leaned forward and planted a kiss on his lips.
