Someone on twitter said that the real raeson why magnifico is a villain is because he has a book of evil spells, like why would you, a king, someone who claims to care about his people, have a book that can only do evil things? The book is actually labeled as "forbidden" but not to magnifico he can use it when ever he wants, if you allowed a evil demon to possess you so you can do evil things then that is villainous, whats not villainous is a 17 year old girl asking if you COULD grant her 100 year old grandfather's wish on his birthday.

Someone on Twitter actually having common sense and actually paid attention to the movie? Call me shocked.

The thing is that Magnifico kept the book at arms length in case of a "potential" danger comes to his kingdom. But seeing the kind of person Magnifico is, he would most likely use any inconvenience as an excuse to use said book as it contain powerful but dangerous magic.

His own people questioning him and asking assurance from him is enough for him to use it. After all, it's his own doing that made he conditioned his people overly rely on him and him alone.
