babe, give me some tips on how to read non-fiction (I am trying to be an adult lol). Ive been trying to read newspapers, editorials, non-fiction books etc, but it's like, my brain barely remembers anything I've read so far. Like I'd be reading a full page and I won't remember shit. Pls help.

this is a delulu porn blog, you think I'm interested in real life???? XD
Being serious, I have a scientific background so that's what I'm mostly paying attention to. Consuming information without a clear purpose or natural curiosity won't be effective. You have to want to know. Connect and apply your readings to your everyday life. Also, for the record, you can be an adult and not constantly read non-fiction.
One can't read non-fiction blindly, because every author - even in scientific articles - is biased and trying to convince you of something. Even news that is supposed to be "reporting" use techniques to sensationalize and push a specific agenda. When you read fiction, you can just believe in the world created, but non-fiction requires critical thinking and constant analysis. You should question the author and the information presented to you (how and why). Accept what facts you agree with but have reasons for it. Even science and history has gray areas. Learning new techniques requires also knowing why they're effective or useful.
Regard the world around you with a curious lens. Nothing is ever black and white. The truth is relative to who is speaking it. Figure out where you want your knowledge to take you and go from there.
You don't need to know everything to be an adult. You can't, realistically. If anything, having the open mindedness and curiosity of a child is more beneficial, because then you'll never be caged in thinking you know everything. You can also educate yourself by surrounding yourself with experts in the fields you're interested in. Who says you gotta read? Have insightful conversations with those who know better. Someone always knows more than you and sharing information orally is much more fun than on a page.
or you can be like me and have sex first and ask questions later
be responsible and don't be like me

10th July 2023
I will admit, the first few days were quite unproductive, but to be fair, I was just
getting into the flow and mood of studying. Only did a few questions and read a little.
It was quite a bad day on the 4th of July, so I had a mental breakdown. Spoke to a friend on the 5th of July and he gave me a lot of motivation to start studying again. I feel super grateful to have the support of those on whom I can still rely.
There were a lot of feelings of uncertainty and scariness because this time I would not be having the support of fellow aspirants, my main supporter (who gave me a lot of guidance and pieces of advice last year) with whom I do not speak anymore, or the support of the faculties. That's alright, I seemed to have done well during CMAT without either of these things, so I am not worried about it anymore. I have to have faith in myself and keep a check on myself and keep doing what needs to be done.
I stuck a calender on my study room wall, along with the syllabus, and my weekly study plan (until November end). I also record my daily tasks on my calendar and cross off the day every day (so that there are visual reminders of how many days up until the exam is there). So I started on 6th July and have maintained to read every day. I also created an exercise plan and exercise every alternate day.
I was also busy taking care of the household and my mother who had gotten bedridden due to sciatica pain. So she was in bed for approx ten days and I handled a lot more responsibilities than I am used to. A little grimace would be that my mood was quite bad during those times. thankfully she has recovered now.
I also cleaned up my bathroom which hadn't been in use for quite some time, shifted stuff, cleaned up the guest room, created my study spot, and got the ac in the guest room fixed.
Overall I am pretty happy with how this time has been spent. Hoping to recreate and give even more of my hard work and come out with flying colors.
Toodles. See ya next time!!!
(P.S. Attached below are the photographs of my study plan and how I am planning to stay organized through this time.)

Hello
Well, I am not really sure who I am writing to, but this introduction is just so that I can outline what this blog will be about, my plans, and document my journey along the way. I plan on being as honest as I can, writing my innermost thoughts so that I can look back on them in the future. I will be concealing my identity for the sole reason that it doesn't get discovered by the people in my life. (not that they're avid Tumblr users but you never know :P)
I am hoping it continues for a long long time.
A little info about me:
I am 25 years old and graduated with a design degree in 2020. And since then I have been bouncing around here and there without anything solid. I plan on doing my master's in Business Administration from a top institute but for that, I need to qualify for an exam and this year would be my third attempt. The reason I have started this blog is that I have been struggling with keeping myself motivated, spending days and days in bed, without an ounce of passion or zeal (I mean, I ain't surprised that I am here). This will be an attempt to keep me on track, document my journey along the way, and accomplish our goals.
To be honest, I am concerned about my future. But there is a weird optimism too, that some way or the other, it'll all work out.
Things I plan on posting on this blog which would be found under the hashtag in the parenthesis:
detailed monthly/weekly (as required) to-do lists (#to-do lists)
check-ins on every 3rd day (#check in day)
accomplishments (#accomplishments)
things I did [it is a journal after all, lol] (#story time)
random thoughts/musing/realizations (#musings)
month-end review (#month end review)
Final words: let's achieve our goals and dreams. let's do this. I can do this. LETZZ GET THIS BREAD
