it occured to me that i yelled "fraser mcluskey" in my s3 renewal post without explaining who he was. he was the chaplain to 1SAS and dropped with them into france, and continued to serve alongside these men throughout the war. after the war, he travelled visiting the families of sas men who were lost. he also was one of the people who gave the service for paddy mayne's funeral.

there's a book he wrote that covers some of his experience with the sas called parachute padre, which i understand can be a bit difficult to get hold of. i got a copy a few years ago, and i thought i'd share a few things from fraser mcluskey's first meeting with paddy mayne (plz forgive quality, i was manouevring around an insistent cat).

anyway the thing about fanfic is that it's not essentially bad or good; it's essentially amateur. some people are absolutely out there writing award-worthy prose (some fic writers ARE award-winning writers IRL!), but that's not the point. the point is that we're all telling campfire stories. it's a community, and it's a way to spend some more time in the worlds and stories that we love.

I have a fic I wanted to pitch to the fandom. Inspired by the kiss, David attacked Alastair Cram with.

AU : David and Alastair manage to escape Gavi. Instead of parting ways, they decide that they have a better chance of survival if they stay together.

Naturally, that kiss and everything it caused must be unpacked. Their journey across Italy is filled with self-discovery and bonding, both in friendship and matters of the heart.

This IS going to happen. I just wanted to give you guys a heads up.
