Jewel rank changes:
In the Black Jewel series, Bishop uses 13 jewels (6 light, 1 in-between, 6 dark) to determine one's magical/psychic strength. Combine that with the fact that you get a starter jewel at birth and a second one later in life, and the range (the second one can be up to 3 jewels darker)... well, let's just say that makes for a lot of membergroups!
In order to lessen the workload and to simplify this system, Witch Songs will be using 7 stones (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, and white; red is the weakest, white is the strongest), with the ability to ascend two spectral colors.

Why only loosely based on BJT?
Simply put, Anne Bishop has stated she does not want people to use her world. That and Rockett already had a world in her head!
