DID SOMEONE SAY HIVEMINDS
Listen, sometimes a ship is less about wanting them to kiss or have sex or whatever, and more about needing them to be so endlessly intertwined and connected to the point where they might as well be one creature.

"everybody hates me" factoid actually just a statistical error. The average person doesn't hate you, especially not your friends. You, a person who sits in your room experiencing self loathing every day, are an outlier adn should not have been counted.

Skyrim actually really did something by creating a video game grey morality™️ conflict where the issue isn't that both sides have a point it's that both sides absolutely suck balls and barely have any semblance of a point about anything. unclear if what they did was good or bad but they did do something

they were contemporarily hated for just being these giant grey monoliths
like there probably could've been an easier way to get rid of them, but they probably needed to go either way

We actually run into a similar problem in the AI safety field; people think a superintelligent AI would "be smart enough to know what's right and wrong."
The classical response is called the orthogonality thesis, which says that most goals are compatible with most intelligence levels.
Eliezer Yudkowsky's "Sorting Pebbles into Correct Heaps" discusses this.
Say it with me. No animal is capable of evil because the concept of 'evil' is based on human-made standards of morality and thus it is ridiculous to expect an animal to adhere to them or to look down upon it for not doing so. Okay thanks
