He and She

He waits for me

Under my bed

He waits until I am comfortable

That’s when he strikes

He tears me apart

To everyone else I seem fine

But he—

He knows

Knows I’m hurting

It’s his fault

‘Get him out!’,

I scream

‘Get him out.’,

I whisper

He hurts me in ways I can’t explain

He takes control of me

Making all my decisions

Telling me what to say

All without stopping to think of the consequences

He forces me to take it out on the people closest to me

He drives them away

Sometimes he’s here for a second

A minute

An hour

Even the whole day

I never know how long he’ll be

Or when he’ll come back

But he hurts me

His red, shining eyes reading my mind

His long black hair covering his face

His lanky arms reach down to the floor

His short legs like a child’s

He finds me

He doesn’t leave me

But then she’s here

She saves me

Chases him away

Now he’s the one that’s scared

Not me

What do I see in her?

I get asked a lot

‘What do you see in her?’

I never know how to answer

‘Why do you like her?’

I never know how to answer

I give them and answer

A general cutesy aww answer

But it’s not how i feel

I can’t put into words

How I feel about her

It’s too complex

For even me to understand

But I do love her

Believe me I do

With all my heart

I love her

8:37am bed & breakfast

filled room

tables full

early morning excitement

breakfast food

busy day ahead

but me,

i sat alone

by myself

in the corner

i was sad

thinking of her

steam from tea rising

toaster jumps

cutlery hitting plates

spoons stirring

washing to do

but me,

i sat alone

once more

in the corner

i was sad

thinking of her

the last morning

juices pouring

secret whispers

couples away together

happily in love

but me,

i sat alone

for the last time

in the corner

but i was happy

i was going home

home to her
