"her appearance was altered, as I had told Heathcliff, but when she was calm, there seemed to be an unearthly beauty in the change."

this is by far my favourite book. ever. there is something so beautiful about it. it is a story of revenge, of undying devotion, of love, and hatred. it has inspired me so very much. i shall never stop loving cathy and heathcliff, however unlikeable they may be.
i imagine their spirits, resting together atop the hearth at wuthering heights, eternally united, in death. catherine and hareton have their own family, move away, new tenants reside at the estate, grow old, followed by a fresh set of tenants. the process repeats over generations and generations. but one thing remains constant. the spirits of cathy and heathcliff live on forever. finally, together once more. and they shall remain that way. until the sky falls in on itself, and the oceans swallow the land.
for eternity.
