I think the conversation on Hades always revolving around how hot its characters are kinda takes away from how strong everything else is. The art design is stunning, the story is gripping, and the way the game loop ties losing into progression is revolutionary. And the MUSIC

I feel the need to periodically remind people that Idiocracy is a eugenics movie.
One of the things that eugenicists believe is that it is bad for society when the “wrong people” breed.
The entire premise of the movie is that “stupid people” kept having kids while “smart people” didn’t have kids, and it ruined society because stupid genes propagated while smart genes died out. This is eugenics propaganda.
I know people will read this and their response will be “actually it’s satire” but the movie isn’t satirizing eugenics. It’s satirizing anti-intellectualism, and consumerism, and it proposes eugenics as a solution.
When eugenics was first conceived, it was used as a way to justify inequality. The idea was that people who held privilege were able to do so because they were smarter and genetically superior to lazy and stupid people who don’t have privilege. Obviously this is bad and wrong, but it is also the core lesson of Idiocracy.
The movie literally ends with the main character becoming president and having “the smartest children in the world.” Because he and his wife have smarter genes than everyone else. The proposed solution for the things that Idiocracy is satirizing is for the smart people to have children that can be in charge of the world.
I know it’s fun to use this movie to dunk on anti-intellectualism and the MAGA movement, but we need to stop. When you quote and reference this movie you are spreading eugenics propaganda.

Episode 13 Spoilers Below:
Rage, Fire, and Conquest as corrupted Righteousness, Springtime Daylight, and Justice! And domain gatekeeping!
Brennan Lee Mulligan you hack (affectionate)
My theory for the unnamed god/Cassandra's dead spouse is that their domain was something related to dawn/morning, revelations, and "blinding" faith, in addition to being a spring deity, that might have probably had a familial relationship with Sol, and potentially was "corrupted"/shaped/transitioned into current day Helio.
If Cassandra is the goddess of night, mysteries, and doubt and is related to Moon goddess Galicaea; then to me it stands to reason that a power couple/arranged marriage would happen between two siblings of the major Celestial bodies representing equal but opposite sides.
And if their domain was related to faith/conviction/knowing, that would be easy to corrupt into rage from a conviction and devotion standpoint, with a paladin's Smite being an evocation of the radiant dawn which could be corrupted into fiendish fire. Especially given how Cassandra has multiple corrupted aspects; the Nightmare King (from my view, corrupted nighttime peace) and the Night Yorb (corrupted night and eternal darkness).
These aspects, again to me and my overworked brain, would also explain why it's a Helio follower that replaced Lucy Frostblade. Sol and whichever god(s) are also involved want Helio either back at full power or operating with additional domains to potentially establish a singular god or a select few all powerful gods.
This would also allow the Ratgrinders' paladin to fill the roll of the "Deus Vult" / "smite the heretics" problem paladin player archetype.

I LOVE Dungeon Meshi's Realistic Fantasy Races
Ok, I had to stop for a moment to gush about the fantasy races of Dunmeshi, and all the consideration that's been put into them, because they actually follow a degree of natural/evolutionary logic not found in most fantasy stories!
Half-Foots (halflings/hobbits):
Tumblr media
So we all know these fellows have excellent hearing and smell, but have you considered WHY? It's an adaptation to counteract their size. Humans (called tallmen in this setting) rely so much on eyesight because we're really tall compared to most animals, giving us a fantastic vantage of our environment. Half-Foots don't have this advantage, and therefore rely on their other senses. It's also much more important for them to be able to detect unseen threats and move quickly, because their size makes them ill-equipped for direct conflict.
Dwarves:
Tumblr media
So Dwarves are depicted as MUCH stronger than tallmen despite their size, right? This is because strength is determined not by size, but by mass, and dwarven bodies are very dense! Yet this comes with the downside of their bodies burning more energy and overheating much faster, which is why dwarves are also shown to be heat-resistant, and why they tend to wear lighter clothing that exposes more skin! Their night-vision is also better than humans' due to their semi-underground lifestyle, while their hearing remains about the same since sound naturally carries in caves. Their hairiness is also likely a direct adaptation to counteract magic, as it's been shown to form a natural buffer when left unwashed.
Gnomes:
Tumblr media
Gnomes are supposed to be evolutionary cousins to dwarves, and it shows! They share a similar height, but are less muscular and have peculiarly-shaped ears, almost mirroring the difference between human and elven ears. Their affinity with nature and spirits also makes sense, because physically they're in an awkward spot compared to the other short races, lacking both the hefty strength of dwarves and the light nimbleness of half-foots. Being less equipped both for fight and flight, it makes sense they'd instead adapt the instinctive ability to read their environments and mitigate its threats through cohabitation.
Elves:
Tumblr media
Like gnomes, elves are in a physically awkward place, however it's even more extreme. Their relatively light and weak bodies make them ill-equipped for direct conflict, and while likely able to move faster than tallmen due to weight, they lack the half-foot's danger-detection senses. This makes them seemingly helpless, however interestingly it actually explains why they're so advanced compared to other races! They were basically forced to coordinate problem-solve, and control their environments out of necessity, which is reflected in their more controlling and direct relationship with magic and nature compared to gnomes.
This actually mirrors the real-world difference between humans and neanderthals. Anthropologists believe neanderthals weren't actually dumber than humans, but that their superior strength and durability meant they weren't forced to problem-solve or control their environments like humans, meaning they seemed less advanced.

When the Harry Potter HBO series comes out, I better not be seeing any of the bullshit justifications that you guys used to justify your Hogwarts Legacy purchases.
"Oh, she won't be making any money from it!" She's the executive producer.
"There's no ethical consumption under capitalism anyway!" That excuse applies when you're talking about things that humans actually need, like food. That excuse does not apply when you're talking about a TV show.
"I have to support the creators!" No you don't. No you fucking don't. If that excuse was true, you'd have to consume every piece of media that was ever created. Besides, Warner Brothers is a billion-dollar corporation. You won't hurt their feelings if you boycott one TV show.
"But it was my childhood!" I don't care. I legitimately do not care.
I don't wanna go through this bullshit again. Just don't fucking watch the series. It's that simple.

when I was especially depressed, I would often ask myself things like 'what is my purpose in life', or 'am I wasting my time', or just in general, I would beat myself up for not being as productive as I would like to be.
more recently I don't feel that way as much, I think life is actually pretty long, even though people like to tell you that it's short. you have plenty of time to do all the things that you want to do at a pace that makes those things enjoyable, and you don't need to rush through things attempting to live life to the fullest. I don't think it's possible to have a 'wasted' or 'unproductive' day, I think we just have days

So I found Aaron Bushnell's reddit and went through his comments/posts. That young man was well read and stable as they can be. Nothing in his writings pointed to someone who was "unstable" or "brainwashed".
He held leftist and anarchist ideals. He belong to the ACAB subreddit. He recognized the evil of the US Military even though he himself was a part of it. He hated TERFS and called out fatphobia. He understood the dangers of white supremecy and the evils of capitalism.
He had a cat. He liked the show fleabag and played elden ring.
Apparently in his will he wants to leave any money in his name to palestinian relief funds. He was trying to find a new owner for his cat.
Rest in peace Aaron Bushnell. The world won't forget & we sure as fuck won't let the media paint you out to be some crazy conspiracy theorist who had no idea what he was doing.
